Well it seems this is the first post on this section!...

I just cant wait for next weekend, as we all know Vernon Davis will be selected in #6, i will love to have Mario Williams, but that wont be the case. Now who will be the best pick at # 22, i have heard a lot about Manny Lawson, but is he that good? Maybe Carpenter could be the best pick in there....

what do you think?

I think that we will for sure be taking Vernon Davis at #6, but when pick #22 comes up I have no idea who we are going to take, and of course a lot of it is going to depend on who falls to us.

#22: Manny Lawson/Jimmy Williams/Bobby Carpenter

I've come to the conclusion that Lawson most likely won't be there for us to take at 22....Dallas,KC, or NE could easily take him. I hope he falls but if he doesn't i don't know what we're gonna do.

I believe we will get Vernon Davis, but when it comes to the 22nd it's still up in the air. If we were to get a OLB like I believe, Lawson and Carpenter will both not be there so we'd get whoever is available out of the two. A corner is also highly likely, and I won't be surprised if DeAngelo Williams is available that he will be our 22nd pick.

For some reason I doubt that we'll take VD first. Don't ask me why it's just a hunch.

A lot have been saying that. But the more one sings the praises of a prospect, the more other teams might want that player, even against any particular need. I wonder if that's partly why Vince Young has been considered a better prospect in the last few days? Davis might not be there at 1.6. Williams and Ferguson will probably go higher, and Bush and Leinart. One never knows. Williams or Ferguson or Davis could fall to 1.6. You could have two QBs in the top five. But it just seems very unlikely.

It's possible the choice will be between Hawk and Huff. Either looks like a sure winner. But people have been laying out those names, and a group of 4 linebackers named Hawk, Ulbrich, and Smith, with Moore or Lawson/Carpenter/Sims, looks pretty decent back there. I don't know that the team has spoken with Carpenter. But I think they've spoken with Sims.

On the other hand, while Williams seems very unlikely, I suppose there's an outside chance for Ferguson - somehow. Then it would appear that the team is emphasizing the O-line, for that one player, rather than the linebacking corps. It just seems, not having perfect hindsight on Saturday night, that it will be Hawk or Huff, and they might just go with Hawk.

Yep! I agree. I think somebody unexpected is going to fall to us . . . like Mario or Reggie.

fall to us
Nolan was hoping the same in that KNBR interview. It doesn't seem likely, though, does it? I think his best case scenario has Vince Young somewhere in the top five. Obviously, that pushes out someone. Maybe there's reconsideration about drafting an offensive lineman so high - so Ferguson is there at 1.6? Maybe there's sudden anticipation of 'buyer's remorse' paying Williams so much, and he's there. But I honestly don't know who a team would prefer, instead - Davis? It will be interesting to see. But I would think Young will be there if the Raiders want him at 1.7. And Hawk or Huff will be there at 1.6. That really doesn't sound so bad, particularly if the Niners pick up a linebacker at 1.22. That could be two solid starters on defense, in their rookie years.

ahh, we're all so smart. look how we thought vernon and lawson are the players to have.

maybe it would be easier to draft players "pin the tail on the donkey" style.

Considering how little Davis and Lawson have contributed through 3 seasons, I still can't believe we passed on Ngata! That's who I was pushing for, back then. Look now, Davis is hopeless, Lawson is a backup.....
