Guys do think it will be possible to sign Adalius Thomas and Lance Briggs this off season to correct our LB core? Also what do you guys think we need on offense? IMHO we need another wide out. If the team had the chance to take Calvin Johnson, would you be upset?

On defense, our LBs aren't the problem. They aren't the best in the league, but I think we need a top notch CB or DT or Pass Rushing end 1st!...Those guys would be nice, but our LBs would look a whole lot better with a better surrounding cast.

I hope by the end of the season we won't be in a position to draft Johnson, but if we do draft high sould we take him, I would rather draft a lock down corner:ninerh:

I think it all depends on what defense MN is going to run next year...will it be 3-4 or 4-3?!
Depending on the sort of defense we will run, we will pick the best LB that will fit our defensive scheme.

Briggs wants to play in Miami. Thomas will probably be available for the right price, along with Cato June. Kawika Mitchell might be worth taking a look at.
As for Johnson, yeah, I'd be upset if it meant Adam Carriker, Gaines Adams and Quentin Moses were left on the board.

I highly doubt that Mike Nolan is going to waste his first pick on an offensive player, knowing that the defense is the unit that needs the most help. I think Mike Nolan will draft the BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER AVAILABLE...wether it'll be a DB, LB, or DL. I personally believe that Nolan will draft a pass rusher. Depending on the type of defense we'll run next year, Nolan will pick a pass rushing LB for the 4-3...or a pass rushing DE for the 3-4. Gaines Adams from Clemson will be a GREAT DE in the 3-4. Quentin Moses from Georgia and LaMarr Woodley from Michigan will be GREAT OLBs in the 4-3. Personally Id rather have Lamarr Woodley. I have watched Michigan's last 3 games...and LaMarr Woodley is no joke. He had 2 sacks and a forced fumble last week.

Then we need to be working Moore into the starting lineup as an ILB and get Smith and Ulbrich off the field.
I wish you were the coach....

No, I would not. But I think he might be gone by the time we pick. I wouldn't mind DeShaun Jackson either/

How do you know Briggs wants to play in Miami. Either way I think we will pursue Thomas moreso than Briggs due to his ties to Nolan....I would love to get June because I personally think he can be a poor man's Urlacher....don't know too much about Mitchell...might be worth it

I say we bring in Terdell Sands and Aubrayo Franklin for the defensive line. Then sign Orlando Huff, who can play ILB and OLB, and Antwan Peek as a situational pass rusher. I'd also sign Lenny Walls, assuming he's gotten over his vendetta against Denver, and Terrence Holt.

If CJ was still on the board I would love to take him. I know that defense is a MUCH bigger need, but he is the best WR prospect to come out in 10 years. He is a can't miss and we do need another WR.
I doubt he will be on the board by then so I would go with Gains Adams. He is going to be a pretty good DE and our D-line is our biggest problem. I would also love to get Laron Landry b/c he is the nest big safety like Palomalu, Ed Reed, Sean Taylor, Roy Williams etc.

The only starters that don't need replacing are Spencer, Lawson, ulbrich and douglas. The last 2 are on my list of keepers cause maybe they would be better if they were not surrounded by 2nd and 3rd srtingers.

Id really like to see them get a true Tackle for a 3-4 scheme. It seems you can easily pick up a pat williams, grady jackson, ted washington type guy and not blow the bank on them. Right now we are so weak at tackle its just unacceptable. I still remember a few years ago watching the draft and pleading the 49ers to draft vince wilfork at 16. But no Terry Donahue had his eye on woods...sigh.

We've had a tough schedule these first few weeks, but I still think we can get to about 7-8 wins if guys step it up. If we are in position to draft him... I wouldn't say it would be a STUPID move, because we'd be getting a potentially great player with amazing ability, but it's obvious that we are desperate for help on the defensive side ofthe ball.
We do need a lock-down CB, but I'm not sure that there is that good of a CB coming out this year... but this years draft IS deep in good Safeties, and since we need a safety just as bad, LaRon Landry would probably be the best choice for us. Explosive hitter in the secondary who can help on the run and cover.

Ya, somebody who knows someone heard that Briggs said he wants to play in Miami... even if its true, there is no guarantee he will go there. I'd love more than anything for him to come to 'Frisco.
Adalius Thomas would be a GREAT addition because he is that perfect size for the 'tweener OLB/DE position we need, along with superior athleticism and skill. 30 years is not old at all for a LB, he will have another 5-6 very good years left in him, and would be a good investment.
I'd like to see Cato June, too. Brings tremendous athleticism to the LB position.
I RULE you!

I don't think I want Cato June in here. He's too small to be a 3-4 LB, can't really shed those blocks. PLus, the added height is nice when he's gotta cover TE's and large slot receivers

isn't the CB at CAL whats his name Harris or something, aren't people saying hes a NFL caliber corner right now. I would like to see us draft him, in the top ten, and have Spencer and Walt Harris, and our starters and have the Rookie Harris as our nickle and see how he does befor starting him oposite to SPencer.
It kinda looks like we'll be picking top 10 again if not top 15 sohe could be a possiblility, or if we draft real high like top 5, trade down to between 5-15 and get another 2nd or 3rd rounder to get another player. i wouldn't even mind tradeing one of are many 4th or other 2nd picks.
i hate to start talking about the draft now, but with the possibility of picks we'll have after the comp picks are handed out we look to be having the best draft out of the 32 teams
