This is the most realistic mock draft that I've seen and I completely agree with each and every pick. http://www.northwestscouting.com/2007mockdraft.html
To sum up our picks we take:
1 DE Alan Branch Michigan
2 DE Justin Harrell Tennessee
3 CB Tarrell Brown Texas
4 WR Adarius Bowman Oklahoma State
4 OT Mike Otto Purdue
4 SS John Wendling Wyoming
This doesn't include a com pick that we will more than likely get for JP either, I think an ILB would be great in the third round. :banana5:

I agree that this is a great draft IF we pick 12th overall, the way things are looking right now I think we are going to be picking somewhere between 5 and 9 in which case I would love to see us take Adams or Woodley (there is now way he falls out of the top 15)

The Falcons have no need for another RB, Dunn will safely play next season and Norwood is in wait. Griffith is at FB, so we would be wasting Leonard's exceptional talent. As for a CB in the first, unless Webster is cut I don't see that happening either.
P.S. And yes I know Webster sucks, but Mora doesn't care so oh well

I'm not his biggest fan. He hasn't really ever impressed me as a player at Fresno State. However, he has great size, and is an excellent athlete. If he works out like he should, he should have no problem being atleast a second round pick at worst. Potential as an NFL prospect outweighs how good of a player someone is in college when it comes to the NFL draft.
this is his money year and he's failed to do simple & basic things...i wouldnt pick him...Richard Marshall came out last season because he had a great 2 seasons that i think out weighed his "potential" but McCauley seems to be the opposite

I'm a big fan of Alan Branch. I'm currently also thinking of taking our 2nd and packaging it to move into the 2nd half of the first. Player I seek is
Lamarr Woodley.

If we passed on Meriweather for Harrell I'd be really upset...

And, when OAK signs Matt Schaub...
Also, Woodley will play himself into a top 15 pick.
CLE should get the best DL they can get, a RB will fall to them in round 2...they always do.

No way woodley drops to the pats at 31...He's definitely going top 15...I just hope its us thats picking him. and I think cleveland would probably take branch if he were still there.
Oh yea, and wheres aaron ross!?

I think we'll draft #8 or #9. I like Branch...but LaMarr Woodley is better. This guy is a great pass rusher. He'd be a great addition to our defense.

One problem. Actually, more.
Justin Harrell will have to have a great workout and more to earn that spot. He has only played 3 games (which were very average) and his season was ended due to injury. Tarrell Brown will likely be a second round pick as long as his suspension doesn't F him over. John Wendling will be a second round pick AT WORST.
Harrell will go 2nd round. He was injured in the first half against AF. The hole defense was great against Cal. and he played with a torn bicept in the Florida game. I don't think he is going to be good in a 3-4 so I belive that he will go to another team in the 2nd round.

Exactly and Branch will Eye Ball test himself out of the top 25!

what, maybe i'm misunderstanding you but no way possible Branch isn't a top 25 pick! he will be top 15 as well.
I agree he is in potential but he has a lot going against him.
1. Michigan DT's for years have been known a goliath rocks with 0 to little work ethic and unfortunately there is little any prospective team can do to dispell that possible impression about him pre-draft. (thank Carr for that impression, since 97 he's done nothing but ride the coattails of his NC)
2. The Eye ball test so many HC's use will fail him miserably and also contribute to a "lazy approach" to fitness and work in general. He is very Gabe Watson like in body style.
3. He cant take on double teams yet, he has major issues with strong linemen because he stands so tall and loses leverage.
4. Much of his "performance" is going to be attributed to the pass rush they have and the secondary playing so well.
5. As much as I hate to say it, this year in particular the NCAA gods have been kind to Michigan in regard to the running games they have faced. At this point it seems to me that most teams have just given up trying to run (though OSU and other top teams wont do the same) on them. The DL for Michigan after first down is always looking pass first and most of the time thats what is called.
6. He's agile but not fast, not that thats a bad thing but just as M Williams stock exploded on the news of his 4.6 40 a 5.1 or 5.2 40 for Branch would do the same for his stock falling. I would not be suprised if he were at the lower end of most speed and explosion drills for DT's, and he blows away everyone in the shuttle type drills.
Now that being said I dont actually think ANY of that is true about Branch. I've seen every game he's been in and liked him since his time in Michigan. He reminds me a lot of that Baby Shaq center from LSU, a mammoth manboy who has yet to realize his full growth in terms of muscle development. That IMO is his biggest drawback, other players his size just seem to be so much stronger than him. It may just be leverage and technique but I dont really know enough about the position to say for sure.
He is deadly when matched one on one when he can use his speed, but if thats taken away he becomes very average. I think he is a 1 year project once in the NFL untill he becomes accustom to the rigors of everyday football. After that though he could be a dominant force for a decade, he seems to lead well on the field and that may give him some bonus points.
I absolutely think he is worthy of a top ten pick but I think he will slide down the boards come draft day for the "trendy stat guy (Williams, Bush, VD)" or just because he doesnt quite fit the system. Of course I have no facts or times to prove any of this just my impressions form an avid Michigan fan. Take it for what its worth.

nice points except he in no way is close to Gabe Watson. Watson is the reason Michigans D played so poor last year and Branch is the reason it is playing well. Watson was known to be lazy and give up on plays whereas Branch has never been given that label and has a very good motor especially for a big guy.
the only similarities is they went to Michiganand played DT.
No no no I'm not saying he is like watson (except in appearance only, i absolutely agree he is loads better in performance) but just like taking a LB or TE from miami in years past there is an eaqual negative connotation in terms of the NFL with michigan linemen. I just fear that connotation will aid in some slippage. Who knows though long way to go till then.

I agree with Ace's assessment of the possible stigma of the Mich DL-man. Obviously, teams will do their homework on Branch, and if he proves to vary from the trend, he'll slot into a higher draft position...otherwise, he'll take the typical Mich DL-man slide come draft day.
