Old uniforms or new uniforms?

Let's finally put this to rest here. Personally, I think the old uniforms are garbage and need to be kept in a storage box somewhere in a dark basement. They're old and look outdated. Same thing with the old logo. But that's just my opinion. Vote on the poll.

Personally, I never realized until today how much I like the old unis. With the unis on and the team playing like they did, I could have sworn it was some year in the 80's. The old unis and alot blander than the new ones, but it just reminds me so much of the domination those NINERS! had over the rest of the league. As long as we keep playing like we did today, they could wear their jockstraps for all I care.....:sf49:

I like the old ones, but they're associated with the great teams of the 80s.

It's a new era in San Francisco 49ers football, and I think we should stick with the new unis.

Yeah, but I think that's a part of the problem. Whenever people see those jerseys on they get a joygasim and still think it's the eighties. We need to let that thing go people. It's 2006. We're not even a shadow of our fomer selves.

I understand what you are saying Black, I really do, but I disagree wholeheartedly about the past. We have a prestigous past, we should be proud of it, and we should aspire to play at that high of a level. Use the past to build the future. It will be different, yes, but we should aspire to be as dominant as we were in the 80's and into the 90's. Living in the past and using it for the future are 2 completely different things. Personally, I relish in it because no other team can claim to have a past as beautiful as ours. I agree that we shouldn't live in it, but we should never forget it and continue to honor it. :sf49:

The old one rocks......and I love the khaki pants too. The old insignia isn't only nostalgic but none of it came from the "black" accents being used to "toughen up" an image trend so prevalent in the 90s and now.....

Even the "49ers" insignia on our ENDZONEs aren't that good compared to our old fonts....

But that is just me.

1849 is being evoked again.....that is what it is all about and there is something about the old scarlet red and khaki combo that makes me think of the 49ers above anything else or any team.

But this is highly subjective.

I think the new niners need to start playing like the old and outdated ones. I like the old jerseys and think they should keep them. It reminded me of the glory days especially with the great defensive win. One question though...
Why didn't Nolan and the rest of the coaching staff listen to what Tom Brady said about the Viking defense and start throwing on first down. Almost every first down they ran up the middle, got stoped for a short gain and had second and long. Alex Smith should of had more than 105 yards passing yesturday. Let the kid throw the ball.

Half the problem is that people want the old Uni's because it reminds them of "the good ol' days" and think it will rekindle some kind of form...but them days be gone and just because we start suiting up in retro uni's won't make us a winning team.

Everytime I see those old kits, it reminds me of the glory days too, and if it became the norm to wear those kits, it'd be a link to our great and storied past gone because we'd be more used to seeing the team lose in that kit and it would lose that great distinction that the kit has now.

I would be curious to see what our new uniforms (all shiny) would look like with white stripes, rather than black.

Its all about the old. I hated it when we followed the trend in sports of adding more black to our uniforms. Watching the game yesterday, the large white stripe down the pants just visually made me feel like our guys were faster. And the brighter red in the sun is just more appealing to me. The BIG solid numbers were better to me as well.

I'm for the hybrid design. Take away most of the black, bring back the red and white stripes to the current helmet, jersey and pants, and use the crimson red that we had. I'm not a big fan of the dark burgundy garbage that is there now. That way, we'd have a modern look while still paying homage to the past.

I saw it mentioned in this morning's SF Chronicle. Said Nolan liked the classic look and wanted to switch back to it permanently. It also said that the change would take a year to implement, so the it wouldn't go into effect until 2008.

Like I said in another thread, don't use the throwbacks. Leave those jerseys for the greatest period in our team's history.

Bring in some new jerseys, incorporate the old gold pants and the bright red, and do something new. A new jersey for a new era. :doubleup:

If the team goes back to the classic uniforms, I'll be super-happy (I love those uniforms and even use them in my football video games (except for the 360 version of Madden because EA charges for them)).

There would be 1 change I would make to the classic uniform though.

1) I'd retain the small logo on the pants (its about hip level).

Other than that, the uniform should remain the same (the helmet defintely needs to stay the same, no messing with the facemask or anything else).
