Hey guys Im currently expanding my league from 10 to 12 teams. Our current roster limits look like this:
(starters)
QB-2
RB-2
WR-3
TE-1
K-1
DST-1
with 6 total back ups allowed. It really works out perfectly the way we have it set up. Draft day will make you or break you. Do any of you out there play or run your own 12 league team? If so what works for your league as fas as roster limits?

Seems like on a team that small you really shouldn't be able to keep that many backups. i mean w/ 12 ppl that is 72 players that are being horded / not playing. Seems like it would make more sense for you to limit it more to say 3 or 4, which would allow ppl to keep backups but not so many back ups that they could prevent other players from having them just so their own scores would be better.

yeah your right that would be to many players for a 12 team league. Those numbers I gave you was for a 10 team league. I was just wondering how should I set up the new roster limits if I were to expand the league by 2 more teams.

Depends on how your transaction process works.
I run two 10 team leagues, and we have 8 starting, and 8 on the bench (would probably stay the same if we had expansion---which is something we've tried to do in one league). The reason I mention transaction format is because, in my leagues it costs $5 to drop/add a player. So, to save a little cost, we keep 16 Player/DST rosters, in case of injury and/or bye weeks, this allows you to have someone ready to fill in. It also makes your late round picks, and early free agent pick-ups important. There is still talent available on waiver wires, and people still spend $20-$40 making transactions throughout the year, which adds to the Superbowl pot. Trading players with other owners is free, as to encourage it.
Another thing, we close the transaction period at the end of our regular season, in week 13 (trade period ends week 10), so teams not in the playoff hunt can dump some guys, and pick up rookies, or players that have better potential for the following season.
The best way to figure it out, is to talk to your other owners. See what they like. Try to think of every possible scenario, and decide what will work best for your league.

Anyone have a league I can join? I was in a random league last year and it was no fun.

Yeah random leagues aren't nearly as exciting b/c ppl don't pay enough attention / care enough about those leagues usually to make em fun.
