I feel like I'm living in a Comcast commercial....we had a minor storm Thursday here in Maryland, and my DirecTV is unable to get a signal ever since. They are unable to get anyone out here until Monday, meaning I will miss the Niners-Seahawks game!!! Trouble shooting on the phone with customer service for over an hour no help, unable to get a servicer out here even after multiple calls explaining the dire importance of this. Dammit, the whole reason I got the **** thing is to watch Sunday ticket, now it chokes on the biggest Niner game of the year!!
I will hit up a sports bar if need be, but I'd rather watch it at home where I can concentrate on the game and hear the sounds...can anyone hook me up with a reliable way to watch it on the net? I've seen a couple of postings about that here in the past.
Help!! :ninerh:

You'd rather watch it on the internet than at a sports bar?
WTF!?

Thanks brotha, will check it out.
Yeah, I would rather watch it on my monitor than a sports bar. Too loud, the Niners game's sound is never on, and very few if any Niners fans around anyways.

Well...you could try to point the dish yourself buy purchasing a satellite signal finder. It's about $30 but well worth it. I installed my own direct tv dish and the signal finder has worked wonders. Or, you could use a compas.
Good Luck!

Hey cool, I've never heard of that. Did you just get it at Radio Shack or something?

But will it tune in the Niners game for me even though I'm outside the Bay Area? I'm on the east coast.

Yeah, If I can see it in the UK, I'm sure you'll be just fine...:jay:
The only reason the niners are on there week in week out, is because the person who is streaming it to the net is bay area based. you just see what he streams, regardless of your geographical location.

Don't do any of that other stuff! Simply unplug the power cord of the satellite receiver for about 10 seconds and put it back in,The satellite system should then search for the signal by itself upon reboot.

Yeah, but there's a huge shift in quality...I know if I had the choice, I'd be paying to watch every game on TV as opposed to a 6 inch window on my PC...

Yup. That's step 1
if that doesnt work...
Step 2) go to the menu, and setup section and test your signal strength. You'll get a little bar chart with a
booping
sound. the sound gets higher pitched as the signal gets stronger.
I would then go out on your roof and adjust the dish yourself with the tv loud enough for you to hear. (I've done this a few times myself) The most common adjustment is for the dish to have sagged downward from weight. loosening the bolt and tilting it slowly upward while listening to the sattelite signal sound usually will get your picture back.
If not, go to directv's website, search around for the sattelite setup guide. Which will tell you the angle to point at, the regular dish and the HD dish point in slightly different directions, so make sure you pick the right one. You'll need a compass to make sure it's pointed the right direction on the globe as well.
If that fails you can try the sattelite finder someone mentioned... I've never had to do that. Usually just slowly moving the dish around has gotten my signal back, and usually better than it was before.
If they're coming out in a few days, even if you screw it up, it doesn't matter, cause you don't have a signal anyway now, and they'll fix it.
good luck

Thanks guys, unplugging didn't work, and while I'm tempted to see if tossing the whole **** thing off my 4th story balcony might fix the problem, I'm going to try to adjust the satellite as directed. Good to know I've a couple of backup plans. I'll let you know how it goes.
