View Full Version : 49ers gear selection where I live is terrible! (rant)

I hope the Niners make the playoffs. I MIGHT be able to go into a store in this area and buy 49ers stuff!

Seriously, I did an inventory at the most expansive store in the local mall, right? Of the 29 NFL teams to choose from (Bengals, Browns and Steelers are always automatic givens here), you can't get a 49ers jersey.

You can get Edge and Leinart, or Carr and A. Johnson from the Texans. You can get a choice of seven different Cowgirls jerseys. You can get at least a jersey of one player from any team, EXCEPT the 49ers.

The manager was politely and tactfully told of this.

So I figured, hey, I live 90 minutes from the Pro Football Hall of Fame, right? Maybe I can check out their website and if they have something good, my best friend and I can take a trip up there and enjoy a day in Canton. We like to do that from time to time and frequent a few places up in that area.

Well, I checked. They have Alex Smith, which is alright, but I was kinda hoping to get another player if I got a jersey. But this one bothered me: Kevan Barlow.

They're STILL selling a Kevan Barlow jersey! For full price!!! What the heck?!?

Thank goodness for NFLShop.com and a few other online sites I've checked out. Once I decide exactly what it is I want, I can get it with no problems. (Still debating on a new jersey or to replace my winter coat.)

But still, it's a slap to my face as a 49ers fan to see stuff from teams that are equally, if not less, supported available for sale. Or for the Hall of Fame to be behind the 8-ball.

it's 2006, use the internet. You can find jersey's for WAY cheaper than you'd find in any store anyway.

Well, it depends. Like shopping, sometimes it's cheaper here or sometimes it's cheaper elsewhere. You just gotta shop. And don't forget shipping fees on things (pending the item) that can make the Internet just as expensive. (Though I just got a Frank Gore jersey for 20% off the other day through a special.)

NONETHELESS... the point is, I can find any team I want to around here, even for generic stuff, EXCEPT the 49ers. When you go to a store that sells NFL stuff but they have no 49ers gear, something is wrong.

That's why I ranted. Maybe if they make the playoffs or flirt even more seriously with it down the stretch, things will change for 2007.

you will never see a 49ers jersey/piece of memoronilia or anything in NJ, aside from the occasionaly jerry rice autograph, never anything current whatsoever..and if you ask they laugh at you and tell you how much alex smith sucks and it results in this big argument abotu alex....true story

There used to be a lot, during the glory years, here in NJ. Heck, I remember as a kid, the only place to get NFL was sears & they Never had anything by us but Jets/Giants. Saw a Packer uniform once at 2 Guys. I also remember being in 3rd grade & getting a catalog from a place in MN, The Button House--only place I could get 49er stuff in the 70's.
