As Chad Pennington lay on the turf rolling and wincing in pain after Mario Williams, the Texans' 6-6, 293-pound rookie defensive end, fell on him midway through the third quarter, the state of his twice surgically repaired right shoulder was the last thing on his mind.
Pennington had a more immediate concern.
"I just wanted to breathe," Pennington said, smiling with relief as he recalled the harrowing moments after he had the wind knocked out of him during the Jets' 26-11 victory over the Houston Texans yesterday at Giants Stadium. "The simple things in life. Let's just breathe right now and we can worry about the shoulder later.
"I thought I wasn't going to make it. If anybody ever had that happen, you know it's the worst feeling in the world. You're sitting there like, 'Oh my goodness, I'm not going to make it.' Right here on the football field. But things worked out well."

That's gotta be scary. Glad he's okay.
