I'm kind of lost on this, Sweets. Can I just say I live in the Bay Area and somewhere in the 9 Bay Area counties? I'm still hesitate about giving my actual location. Let's just say I burned too many bridges and on another forum, some 'prying' eyes are reading some of what I'm saying. I"m not saying I don't want to do it for I do, but I don't want to end up in a witness protection program.:francis:

Rolling all you're giving us is your zip code, and I doubt if anyone can find you with just a zip code, but if you feel uncomfortable then just put a zip code from a city near you, it isn't that big of a deal.

I'm glad you're on the map Sweets, and good to see other variety of female fans like Tahoegirl.

Fez, one has to be careful. I rather say I do live in the Bay Area, but not say exactly where in the Bay Area so I leave it at this when I say I live in one of the 9 Bay Area counties. I want to look at this map first when I get back to see how it works, and say I live in opposite of where I live. Trust me, on some of the other 49er forums I"ve been on, I unfortunately made a lot more enemies then friends, and some of them were sadly 49er fans as well as zealous opposing fans. Much as I try to engage in football talk with these people, it only wound up being turned into WWE and Jerry Springer. I'm not being fickle for I do want to take part, but at the same time, I prefer to keep parts of my life personal so that I stay safe.

Just give a location close to what your real location is, though it's not your *true* location. Maybe that might work for you.

Ahhh, they're opening up one of these near me in southern CA. If it's the best steak, I'll have to give it a shot. There shouldn't be too much difference in taste, I"m thinking.

or easier than that.
simply don't do it. it's not a forced thing and if you're going to spend numerous posts telling people why you can't do it. just don't.

This will probably be the best thing to do. After all, you don't want to wake up with Tiz at your door wearing all that purple gear. The kids might think he's a giant crayon.

The best deep dish pizza i have ever had was in Philly... :hide:

But my comments about the steak in Chicago is not a slight one either, i lived in TX for a year and i travel there 4-6 times a year for business and the best steak still to this day is in Chicago... I think it's cause they broil it for a quick minute in these super pots like at 800 degrees from what they have explained and then they grill it, leaves the nice crispy taste on the outside, and great juicy taste in the middle. Jesus i am foaming from the mouth right now, lol.

I just put Bay Area; I guess that is accurate enough. 49ers BACKYARD is another way to put it!

We used to have a map with everybody's location on it, but when things changed some time back, the FAN'S MAP got deleted, probably accidentally. But if everyone lists his area from which he posts, it gives everyone a good idea who's from where, so in case some local yokels want to get together to tailgate or watch a 49ers' game together, that will help them out.

Thanks, Sweets, for bringing up the request.

Incidentally, Peter Harris, former 49er President and CEO, is the one who used to call me the ULTIMATE FAN. He is no longer with the 49ers; I wonder where he landed...

Fabie gave me the nickname of Den Mum! And I call myself NINER MOM because I consider each of the 49ers my sons. That way, I have a family...

If we had availability of using TABS, I could start up another FAN MAP. But it got too hard to maintain with only dots to separate the columns. Then, if eveyone fills out his LOCATION, it will shape up rather quickly. The new Administration would have to enable tab formatting.

Thanks, Sweets, for the heads up on Peter Harris. He was such an upbeat person that I always enjoyed seeing him on 49er events. I have a souvenir 8x10 photo of him and me which he signed and personalized for me.

I bought some boat paint from West Marine to paint my 3 bridges out front in my 49ers park. The bridges were built from scratch out of light oak by an engineer (took him a week to build the 3 bridges). I was advised to get some boat paint to preserve it against the elements, so I did. I guess that's the same company where Peter is the CEO. I'll have to check it out. I miss Peter's buoyant spirit! :banana4: :sam: :hyper:

I believe the meals at Ruth's Chris is closer to $75 and is ala carte, but I've heard nothing but great things about it.

But back to the topic here, I hope that the members are clicking the link in the first thread to actually put in their info to be counting on our map. Stand and be counted people, let us know if anyone is having trouble doing that.

I finally succeeded in getting myself on the map. I think the markers are too big; some of them cover up other markers where the fan density is greater, as in California. Can the size of the markers be smaller?

Why doesn't everyone list their zip code so that we can really tell where the fan population posting is from? Maybe attention can be called on the various segments to fill in their zipcode in their PROFILE. Would that automatically put them on the map, Sweets?

Niner Jan

This map is much better than what I was doing some time back! Pictures are definitely a thousand times better than words! :hyper:

Sweets
05-26-2006, 06:01 AM
Jan, once you add your zip code that's what the map uses to chart where you are. I know that some areas are congested but if you put your cursor over the area you can see the different names that come up and just click on the person you're looking for it will then bring up their name and zip code and anything they may have added to say. I don't think you can made the markers smaller but will ck into it.

Jan, the map is offsite, so newbies adding their zip codes wouldn't automatically add them to this map, and since this map is voluntary, I would rather have them come here and list themselves.

Niner Jan
05-26-2006, 11:00 AM
Thanks, Sweets, for the added information. Using STICKIES was a great idea. Are you responsible for getting us the 49er Fan Map? Thanks, if you are. If not, thanks to whoever set it up. It's much better than the old tracker I used to try to keep up with centuries ago (seems that long ago).

At least I'm invisibly there on the map--not that anybody is breaking down my door to find me. :rolleyes2:

I just want to be counted where it matters.

Niner Jan

So a sticky is something that can be copied to a different segment of the MB likek a "pointer"? Good feature. Thanks to the Admin for adding it.

I hope everybody jumps on the MAP bandwagon. It's fun knowing that there are others from your "neck of the woods"--especially when the woods are far away. Kind of acts like another BOND between 49er fan brothers and sisters. Love the idea!

I live in a place called Rosyth which is approx 10 miles away from Edinburgh the capital of Scotland. Its a fairly big town and has a port in it where alot of British war ships, submarines and some American ones sometimes dock at.
You can see the Forth Road Bridge from my town which is quite impressive but nowhere to the extent of the Golden gate, its Scotland.
