I found an interesting comment in this afternoon's at the very end of a Matier and Ross article in the SF Chronicle about the 49ers hiring consultants to aid them in dealing with Migden's bill in Sacramento. It seems that the team is very intent on moving to Santa Clara.

Having worked with Steve Schmidt on the Governor's reelection, I can tell you that he's a brilliant political mind and will be a huge asset in getting the stadium deal finalized. Plus, having him on the team only increases the chances of Arnold vetoing any frivolous legislation targeted at forcing the niners to stay in SF.

There are follow-ups on the thread about the City Council's meeting last night (around page 10-11, I think). There's a lot of information there about what transpired in the momentous historic evening.
