Here's how it works...

The object of this game is not neccessarily who has the best roster, but who has the most improved roster. We'll have a grading process when the game is completed.

Since Free Agency won't begin until March, we're playing this game using the rosters each team finished the season with. Refer to NFL.com (http://nfl.com/) for your team's roster/depth chart (don't forget your IR players). Drafting players, and making trades is the only way to change your roster. You need to finish the game with a 53 man roster, a little under is your choice, but no more than 53.

We will not have compensatory picks during this game, as they have not yet been announced.

************************************************** **************************

Time Frames
Round 1: Each team has 12 hours to make their selection (no window). The game will begin @ 12pm PST on Monday 1/22. Oakland will go on the clock, and have until 12am PST of Tuesday 1/23 to make their selection. If the selection is made prior to the deadline, round to the nearest quarter hour (15 minute increment), and the next deadline is 12 hours from then. Since we are allowing for an entire half day for round 1, there will be no 'rest' window. The deadlines will continue at 12 hours each until round 1 has been completed

Round 2: Each team will be given 8 hours to make their selection (no Window). Sames rules apply as round 1.

Round 3: Each team will be given 6 hours to make their selection. A 'rest' window will be implemented to allow for work/sleep/life to happen. This window will last from 10pm PST until 6am PST. So, if your team goes on the clock at 7pm PST, you have 3 hours before the window plus 3 hours after the window to make your selection, therefore, your deadline would be 9am PST.

Day 2: Rounds 4-7 will give 4 hours for each team to make their selection, using the same 'rest' window as Round 3.

If your time limit expires, then your pick becomes "passed", and you may make your selection at anytime. However, the next team's time frame begins when your pick expires. When you come back to make your pick, the current time frame stays in play.

After you have made your selection, feel free to announce who is on the clock next, and give them their deadline. I won't always be here to do so. If you have a pick coming up, and the deadline wasn't announced, it is still the time frame from when the last pick was made, do the math yourself if you have to.
************************************************** **************************

Trades
There is no trading between teams with the same owner.

When presented with a trade offer, make sure to get confirmation before announcing it. ie. don't just post a trade happening when all you have is a proposal, as most owners will have several proposals floating around, and will take the best offer. Make sure you and the other owner know the trade is going to be announced before posting it.

************************************************** **************************

Game Threads
Use the Roster Thread (http://forums.49ers.com/messageboard/showthread.php?t=16726) to keep track of your players and picks.

Use the Trades Thread (http://forums.49ers.com/messageboard/showthread.php?t=16734) to post your Trade Blocks, Completed Trades, and other trade related stuff. Remember, when making a trade involving a draft pick, you must include the round number and pick number (ie: JAX trades Rd3 Pk15 (79 overall) to CLE for Rd4 Pk4 (100 overall) + "Player's Name"...or something to that degree), make sure we know what pick(s) are being traded.

Forgot to include that part...I edited it into the original post:

If your time limit expires, then your pick becomes "passed", and you may make your selection at anytime. However, the next team's time frame begins when your pick expires. When you come back to make your pick, the current time frame stays in play.

Draft order is set!

If we get to IND and CHI's picks before the Superbowl, they'll go based on record (IND 31 and CHI 32).

The game begins at 12pm (Noon) PST today (1/22)...Oakland will go on the clock at that time, and the deadline to make the selection will be 12am (Midnight) of Tuesday (1/23). If the pick is made before midnight, Detroit's 12 hour time frame starts at the next quarter hour from when the pick was made, and so on and so forth.

Not in the same trade.

Break it into two seperate trades, and you can.

And irvin was an all rounder but ran the possession routes and drew the double teams, and Harper was the deep threat. We don't have the deep threat. And you chose the YAC guy instead of the deep threat guy. Also, Irvin was much faster in his own right than Colston.

Look, I'm not saying it was a bad trade. I just thought we needed more of a deep threat. Colston had lovely stats, but got them catching short passes and making moves after the catch, often on designed plays where another receiver set up a block for him. Those plays won't be there under Turner.

Colston is fine. Henderson would have been better.

So the speed guy who cant draw the double team is more important than the guy who constantly draws the double team? I see. :spy:

Bryant and Battle have enough speed to get as deep as needed and Colston is no slouch himself then I have a TE that runs a 4.3 so "speed" is not a concearn at this point.

I don't think its that unfair, he said he wouldnt pick until morning anyway. If he had submitted a pick or trade Id call it unfair, but as things are I think it's fine.

ManCans asked how grading worked. There are actually a couple of different ways we did this last year.

1) Everyone who wants a chance to win has to grade every team (1-10) on Offense, Defense, and Overall. Those three categories get added together, and the total is your team's score. 3 judges are appointed to handle grade challenges, and if teams are tied, they re-score them, and the winners are determined. But, if you don't grade, you can't win. This is the most thourough, and probably the funnest way, but it is time consuming, and arguous.

2) We can just do a Top 5 format, where everyone just submits, in order (1 being the best) their picks for top five most improved rosters. #1 gets 7 points, #2 gets 5, #3 gets 3, 4 gets 2, 5 gets 1 point. Those totals get added together, and the winners are determined.

3) I think we did a third method last year, but I don't remember now, so let's just decide between the first two

Once they relaunched these boards, I was around for a while, but I tend to hang around this board more often when the draft rolls around to be a part of the annual mock draft held here, and to talk about prospects.

Besides, its a bit strange to single him out as a reach when Levi Brown and Dwayne Bowe both went much higher than expeted right before him. Not that I think either is a bad player or unworthy of a reach, but I've seen a lot more of Carriker projected in the mid first than I have those 2.

well you would lose your bet. the two bets we currently have are:

1. Aaron Rouse is the 2nd Safety drafted

2. Robert Meachem will be the 2nd WR drafted.

~ both scenerios were personal guarantee's of yours and i'm still feeling really confident about winning both of these and think the above two are not going to happen. heck even in this mock draft in a board that overrates a bunch of SEC players these scenerios didn't occur.

then again, we will see.

I thought it was just Rouse will be a 1st rounder. How long ago did I say that anyway, like October? Meachem will be the 2nd WR drafted, I'm still confident on that one.

And this would be almost the exact opposite of that, Meachum is more than an impressive 40 time, around 10 picks lower if memory serves, not to mention Williamson isn't a bust yet, he has shown the ability to get open (he just needs to learn how to catch:hide: ).

Not to mention, Meachem isn't that fast. He'll probably run a 4.47-4.50. He's just the best all-around WR in the draft, behind Johnson.

01-27-2007, 09:18 PM
yep and people mocking me for asking you to watch Okoye for me because i was missing the first half of the Lousiville/WVU game. i remember very well. and in my mock drafts\ i slated us taking him in the 2nd and caught some heat but now it looks he is a mid first rounder who may creep up even more.

but Reggie Nelson has been my boy for months and i was pretty much sold on him early in the year and it didn't take some recent momentum to convince me of what he could do.

Do you still think Paul Posluszny is the second best LB in the draft and a surefire 1st rounder as well?:whistling:
