Each day, Wright has been summarizing whose scouts/staff have been talking to which prospects. We were shut out the first couple days (since we get to scout by coaching), but he had a couple from today. Quentin Moses ... interesting. There's your 3-4 rusher. ...

That guy sucks, definitely not worth our #11, worth our 2nd rounder though.

he's had a very good Senior bowl week apparently. I agree he's not worth #11, but if we were to trade back 5-10 picks ....

We'd pick Jarvis Moss or Patrick Willis.

Thanks for the link Nevyn.
I'm not quite sure which Moses people have been watching this week. Before this week he was pencilled in as a very probable top 15 pick and probably the 3rd DL and 2nd DE picked. He had a brilliant breakout junior year but was fairly average his senior year. A lot of people wanted him to break out into a solid tweener role but didn't show any flashes of it until today. He routinely got manhandled on running plays and has shown almost no hip and foot control in space. He's looking more like a pass rushing 3-4 OLB only who will struggle a bit to play in space and too much of a run liability as a down DE.
That said, I'm not shocked that we're looking at him. He still has more open field potential than Haralson and he's got a better array of pure pass rushing moves. He likely lost a lot of stock this week. He's not en edge demon like Freeney was but lacks that point of attack or improvisational edge as well. We could be targeting him without our 2nd, he'd be an excellent value if we never get our mits on Thomas out of BAL.
Pittman I imagine we must be looking at as an OLB convert. I don't see any 3-4 DL in him nor a 3-4 OLB unless we're talking run stopper only. Perhaps we see enough in him to think he could be our 2nd OLB in a 3-4 to keep Haralson and Green fresh. He could be someone that we look at in the combine for some good measurables as a 4th round type of value. I don't know him much but so far he seems like he might be better off as a large OLB convert.

Mike Nolan said in his PC today that he thought Buster Davis had work to do and would begin as a special teamer in the NFL. Could be misdirection, but ...

It's all about Patrick Willis. All reports are that he's been BY FAR the most impressive line backer on the South squad.

This was in the same guys blog for the day:
• 5:15pm - As mentioned earlier I noticed something very interesting after the South's practice this afternoon. South Head Coach Mike Nolan, who also happens to coach the San Francisco 49'ers, ran both Quentin Moses of Georgia and Chase Pittman of L.S.U. through linebacker drills for about 5 min. before leaving and saying "I saw what I needed to see". Are these the potential 3-4 outside linebackers he alluded to at the press conference last night?
so thats the basis for his observations thing
