Agreed... If we take a LB at #6 I would look for us to take a DB or CB with the other pick. If we take VD at #6 I think we'll take a LB, DB, or CB with #22.

people just dont like the picks but they are very likely.
The way Nolan sounded yesterday I dont think we will be taking the same side of the ball with the first round picks. And even if we did that I doubt we'd take two of the same position.

Anything is possible....I know Nolan and his staff are ready for anything. They probably 5 or 6 different mock drafts of who take depending on what happens. They key is not so much going after who you want, but reacting to someone taking the guys your after. They will be prepared.

I don't see our offense going anywhere next season without a player like Vernon Davis. We have Antonio Bryant and Arnaz Battle as recievers and none of them are even proven #1's. We won't be getting Javon Walker, he'll most likely be with the Broncos. Leaving us with no playmakers and forcing our D to play way too much again. Vernon Davis is what this team needs.

I wouldn't be mad with getting Aj Hawk, but I don't see the team going as far without having Davis.

Why?

Before the Coin Flip, Big Vern was the consolation prize because we would miss out on the non-QBs in the "Big 6". We wanted Hawk or Super Mario but were going to have to make do with Vern, Huff or Jimmy Williams.

Somehow, he's now become the second best player in the draft (maybe even the best ahead of St Reggie)? I think there's an awful lot of rationalisation been going on, finding reasons why we "never wanted Hawk or Mario or D'Brick anyway :rolleyes:" that have now become "We always wanted Big Vern really".

I dont understad why 2 OLBs would be so bad. We need to starters at OLB, some DB help, and an offensive playmaker. We just invested a decent amount of $ on our offense, why not get the D almost completely fixed.

THe smart choice, if VD and Hawk are both there is to take Davis, and grab a LB at 22. We need that LB at 22 more than a corner (we're not hurting as bad at corner as we are at LB) DeAngelo williams may be a **** good player, but we're much healthier at RB than at LB.

Our Defense, ISN'T our weakness. They've been on the field too much because of our poor offense. With an improved O line, a better running game, and a weapon like Davis, our D will do fine with someone like Lawson, the corners we have etc....

while I do agree we should get VD with #6, if we go defense for both I wont be that upset as they will still contribute.

I'll agree with that. I don't think I'd be too upset to see Lawson and Hawk on the field.

I think it'll be pretty hard to be upset with the picks unless we REALLY screwed up. We're gonna get a couple very talented guys no matter how you look at it.

No way Cutler goes #4. If the Jets really want Cutler, it seems they would try and trade down to pick him. Makes no sense to pay #4 $$ to the #3 ranked qb in the draft.

...but VD's got quite a vocal fanbase around these parts and the "Nolan is lame" / "Our offense is gonna suck" threads would be pretty overwhelming Saturday afternoon.

I personally want VD out of the 2, but would still be ecstatic with Hawk. Either way, we should be able to get a quality player at that position with the 22 pick easily.

notice that they say in that draft that they supposed hawk will go 5 and that they only think its a chance that ferguson will go GB.. i want VD anyways.. very rare player and much needed..
