Well, Hershall Walker was on the radio the other day talking about how impressed he was with the new stadium layoout and the megatron that would strech from 20 to 20. He was talking about it like it was a possibility, and not a certainty.

Lisa Lang was quoted as saying that the league has assured the team that stadium money will be available. It sounds to me that one funding program is ending but another is planned to replace it. The NFL has never been reticent in spending money to increase the value of its franchises. My bet is that this will work itself out in favor of new stadium funding for us.

The Niners say that the money couild be available, but this could put a serious damper on the plans for a new stadium. It amazes me that a league that makes as much as the NFL can have the cajones to say that they don't have enough money to help fund stadiums that they use. IMO, that is not a good start for Mr. Goodell.

The article quoted is an opinion piece by Ray Ratto. A local sports writer who makes every effort to live up to the first three letters of his last name. (Yeah - that's just my opinion.)

But it's interesting to note that he claimes the league has zero money to contribute to stadiums, then quotes the commisionner who says there will be money, and then spins right back around and suggests Los Angeles and/or San Diego may get the money first. Jeeze, c',mon - get your story straight Mr. Rat.

I mean, you're still claiming the Niners and Raiders had conversation about a joint stadium, even after the Niners 'bout near sprained something in order to produce a public statement that nothing of the sort had ever transpired.

Please, please please let's keep the discussion of the stadium grounded in some form of reality, somewhere, anywere (except for Hunter's Point that is.....)

ratto wasn't the one who created the article about the 49ers - Raiders stadium.

Make that a DOUBLE quote (for me, too). I can't stand him! He can never be negative enough about the 49ers...nasty fellow!
