Are you?

There's a reason why a Seahawks fan chose Daunte Culpepper (even with THAT injury) over Hass...

But hey, it's ok with me. You wanna believe you got the best 3rd QB, more power to you. We'll be grading everyone's teams except each's own anyway, so there may not be homer grades.
i originally said top 4 in the nfl and could make an argument for the 3rd best in the nfl. now we can, and probably will continue this argument later, but i need to catch some shut-eye. its after 2 am and i need to wake up in 4 hours!

Nolandynasty, after you pick you should stay on for a few minutes to see if that player is available or not so you dont get skipped again like with your Tommie Harris pick. plus there is a good chance you will be picking again real soon so after your pick, at the absolut longest you pick 6 hours after that so check back on if you can so we dont have to wait. or you can leave a list of players so we can draft for you.

that might be believable but as we all know, if Dorsey stiff armed anyone that if anything was going to break in two would be his arm.

Wow. I was at ESPN all day today and just KNEW I'd be passed when I got back. Imagine my surprise when I come back and it's not even my turn. Saw Steve Levy and Dee Brown but no Stu Scott. Bummer. Anyway, got to take a picture sitting at the SportsCenter desk which was pretty ****ed cool.

But here's the hilarious thing: I wanted to take a picture out in front of the campus right about where the guy that does the ESPN mobile commercials stands. As I stood there about to take my picture, the guard comes out of the shack and tells me that I can't take pictures of the building... after I was just INSIDE the gate taking all the pictures I wanted. The funny part is I ended up feeling just like the guy in the commercial - chased away by security. Hilarious stuff.

Sounds like good times. Were you there on an interview, or pleasure?

BTW, I just had to edit my selection post to include "The Hammer's" highlights in there. Pretty vicious stuff.

I work for ESPN's parent company and I was there giving a presentation. The group that I was presenting to then got a tour and I got to tag along. That place is in the middle of freakin' nowhere. Glad to be back in N.Y. cuz Connecticut blows. Can't believe all of those on air talent guys live way out there in the sticks.

So, you're a city boy? I'd love to have the income to move out to the sticks, and be comfortable out there.

by far my biggest regret was picking up jake plummer as early as i did. i thought everyone would be rushing around after a qb, i think only one or two has been taken since that pick. i personally feel hes better than anyone on the board now, or at the time I picked him, but i figure he'll just get lumped in with all the other second tier qb's once we get to grading. oh well, my mistake.

im sorry but im going to have to respectfully disagree;

QB Rating- manning= 75.9/Plummer 90.2

Int's- Manning =17/ Plummer = 7

Pct.- Manning= 52.8%/ Plummer = 60.7%

comparable yardage and td's for both. Plummer's will be at the top of his game for a good 3-4 years to come, hes only 32 whereas manning is still coming into his own.

Knobs, you asked me earlier if I thought the best OLB in the league had been drafted and I just read it just now. Yes, he has. IMO, Derrick Brooks is still better than Keith Bulluck. While that may be up for debate, I certainly don't think that Bulluck is the "hands down" best OLB in the league as you stated.
well i would completely agree with you if this was 2002 when Brooks was the defensive player of the year but Brooks is now 33. Bullock is a much harder hitter, better blitzer, and better against the run. now i will admit that Brooks may be the best coverage LB in the nfl, Bullocks is also up there. i just see Bullocks stats over the past 4 years and notice he averages 18 tackles per year more, 1.5 sacks per year more, and more forced fumbles. now i understand your opinion and it's hard to answer because both players play in different schemes.

as long as you have 11 offensive players you can use any formation you want. it can vary from 5 WR's to 0 WR's, it's completely your call.

.....the same goes for defense, you can set up any defensive formation you want as long as you only have 11 players.

PTR, i see you are on now. i notice we dont have a set number of rounds to draft yet there is 25 roster positions in this game. what happens if someone fills the 25 starting spots before they draft 25 players? (for example i notice some people using a starting Wr also as a return man) it would seem pointless for a person to draft that extra player because we are only comparing starting rosters. what are we going to do?

I for one, am not for including KR / PR.

I think it should just be your starters and then a kicker. So 23 total.

Anyone interested in doing a Team Mock Draft:

Rules: I want to use about 10-12 people to do this. Each person will pick a player currently in the NFL (including Rookies) when it's their turn to build their team. Each person will pick 11 Offensive Players, 11 Defensive Players, 1 KR/PR, and a Punter and PlaceKicker.

this is my point, what if say someone is using Steve Smith as a starting WR and as KR/PR as he is doing. what would he do with that extra draft pick??? does he pick to take a player away form someone else but not use them in his final roster or just not draft that last roster spot at all?

It clearly says you have to pick a return man, so if someone decides to use a strater then so be it they just dont get to use one of their picks.

knobs27
06-05-2006, 08:46 AM
Wouldn't the time to make this change have been in the beginning before people actually used a pick on a return man? If we remove the position, you're basically telling people they've wasted one of their picks. I don't think anyone would have selected Dante Hall as a receiver. It's not fair to the people who have selected a return man just to say "never mind" now.

We should stick to the rules as they were originally designed and not go changing them with only a couple of rounds left IMO.
i am with you and agree. i was just wondering what we are going to do. so i guess if someone is using a starter as a return man then they just dont use one of their picks because that player wouldn't be used anyways.

MasterShake
06-05-2006, 09:12 AM
You have to pick a dedicated return man, if you use a player like steve smith as your return man you have to pick someone else to play reciever. Those were the rules in the beginning, changing them now is unfair.

so people can't use a starter as a return man, that changes some things but should be fine since we aren't addressing the issue too late in the game.

Yeah, since we new that from the beginning we drafted with that strategy. Even though I have Nate Clement on my team who is a good returner, a guy like Terrence McGee would have carried a much higher value due to his good CB play and great return ability. Gotta stick to the rules the way they were laid out.

nope. he never did. he admitted to using a ben gay type of cream and he admited to using a nother substance which the media took as his admittance to using the "clear" and the "cream". ESPN page 2 even did an article on how the media took what Bonds admitted to using and twisted it to fit the discription of what they wanted it to be....bottom line is this. if he openly admitted to using steroids then why would they need to be doing all this running around and wanting him to admit to using it still?
in his grand jury testimony he did admit to using "the clear" and "the cream" just as Gary Sheffield did, but both say they were rehabbing and didn't know what the substance was. this way they both admit to taking it without actually admitting to it because they say they don't really know what the substance was. Bonds also called his trainer personally for "emergency help" to slumping players and it was to be flied immediately to Gary Sheffield and other players.

oh here we go, this is the completely wrong thread to do this and i am so tired of the whole Bonds/steroids/Balco debate that i dont even want to get into it.

i.e. if he admitted to using why would you want a 2nd admission?

i dont think people want a 2nd admission, i think they want MLB to just do something to Barry because of their dislike for him and the overall cloud over baseball in the 90's-present.

nope. that's the issue, bonds admitted to using a cream product that was a ben-gay type of muscle relaxer and the media intrepreted that as the "cream". that's exactly why the media is still lookin for admission instead of accepting the previous "claims" as admission.

i.e. if he admitted to using why would you want a 2nd admission?
To clarify both Bonds and Sheffield admited that they never "knowingly" used steroids. They both admited what Tiz said as well, the media (however right they may be) made the conclusion thats so popular that the two players admitted to taking roids, neither have nor will they ever imo.

its way to coincidental that Barry Bonds trainer Greg Anderson subpoenaed for perjury perjury. and i see plenty of articles that all point to barry Bonds and none are ESPN articles just looking for a story or to pin Bonds with false accusations.

But yes i understand what your saying, Bonds 'says' he thought they were flagseed oil and arthritis cream but what he explained was almost identical descriptions to "the cream" and "the clear." not to mention the person (his trainer) and the lab (Balco) he got these creams from are the exact distributors that are accused of running this littler steroid ring in the nfl.

well on Sheffield...

Sheffield used injectable testosterone and human growth hormone given to him by Barry Bonds' trainer, according to a new book.

Sheffield allegedly used the performance-enhancing drugs in early 2002 when he was working out with Bonds and trainer Greg Anderson.

Mark Fainaru-Wada and Lance Williams made the allegations in their book "Game of Shadows" based on a calendar showing when Sheffield was given the drugs.

Sheffield has previously admitted only to unknowingly using the designer steroids "the cream" and "the clear" when training with Bonds. This is the first time he has been tied to testosterone and human growth hormone.

The book says Sheffield paid $10,000 for the drugs and was told by Bonds "don't ask any questions."

Sheffield was not immediately available for comment this afternoon before the Yankees played the Red Sox at Legends Field.

Calls it accident

Gary Sheffield admitted to unwittingly using steroids from the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative in testimony before a federal grand jury last year, according to a report in the Oct. 11 issue of Sports Illustrated, which hits newsstands tomorrow.

Sheffield told the magazine that he was shocked that the infamous "cream," which he believed was "like a cortisone to heal" his surgically repaired knee, was actually a designer steroid from BALCO.
