Just kidding. The world's greatest 4th quarter choker is about to be dealt for a bag of chips and a sixer of Schlitz Malt Liquor...
...for the second time in a year.

Rattay is a solid QB and i think could be a great back-up QB in the nfl.

If he can get his 4th Qtr game togather Rat is a solid QB.

Backups make league minimum or a contingent contract like Dorsey is good pay if you make the team.
Timmy is a good QB, and with a stout line could do well, but any team that needs a QB as badly as Tampa did, will not have a stout line.

1.2 mil is a lot for a backup, I can't blame em. Mckown is a lot cheaper.
Someone will take Rat, he's a decent backup, and on the right team (pocket passer friendly), he should be able to shine.

trade Dorsey to TB for Rattay and a 4th round pick :nana:
Im sure they would if it was offered. :nana:

I'd take Rattay over Dorsey, Rat man had some pretty impressive throws, but then again...

Tim was at times a very good QB, but all people think about when they think of Ratman is his 4th qtr INT's which isnt really fair, i would not be upset if we brought tim back at a vet minimum

I'd wait until Rattay gets cut, then re-sign him for backup duties. He already knows the system and what's going to happen. He knows he won't get to be a starter anywhere anyway.
We traded him because he still had value, and was pretty pricey for his position. Wouldn't be all that bad to get him back for cheap.
But I would dread those 4th quarters...

You sure he doesn't have any ill-will towards Nolan and SF for making him pack his bags mid-season, and after professing confidence in him only to give him the boot?

If the Bucs would take a seventh rounder for him, I'd love it if the Seahawks picked him up. They've been wanting to get a true backup QB so they can use Wallace as a slash player. I think Rattay would fit nicely.
EDIT: I just popped my cherry. This is my first post. Pardon the mess.

Ray Felix continues to prove why he is the biggest ***** in the history of mankind.
Do you ever have an opinion that isn't wrong? I mean, seriously...T.O., Jeff Garcia, Tim Rattay, John York, music...you're wrong about every single topic known to man. It's unbelievable. We seriously need the government to step in and execute you.
Not only that, but even with your wrong opinions, you're too much of a ***** to really delve into anything. If someone confronts you, you'll deliver shallow responses that are borderline non sequitur.

Explain to me how he "already knows the system".

That is what I was gonna say... did he honeymoon with Turner somewhere that I didnt know about?

My bet is he ends up in Chicago, Miami, or Cincinatti as the backup, and that he doesn't get moved until Harrington does.
If I was cincinatti I'd be offering a 6th/7th for him now. He'd be pretty good insurance for Carson not being ready to start the season.
Maybe Oakland will pick him up. He and Brooks could split every game. Since they both seem to have about one good half in 'em every week, ya put 'em together and you've got a decent quarterback. :tung:

honestly
all quotes and references from Nolan is that Turner isn't going to drastically change the system as that wouldn't benefit all the work Alex has done to learn the current system.
so the current system isn't going to be drastically changed and neither is terminology as it would impede alex' progress so technically speaking Rattay would be rather familiar with the system and wouldn't have to completely learn a new system...
Sure he wouldn't have to completely learn the system, but the way the NFL is these days, are there really that many differences from team to team? And the guy wasn't here for half the season last year, and that was his first year in that particular system. Couple that with us having a all new OC, I think he's farther away than you are alluding.

honestly
yes honestly. if he stayed on one place to learn the system behind a good QB, i think he could be an ideal back-up QB. Rattay is a team player and is a pretty darn good QB. Rattay could go to a team with a great QB like Indy, Pit, NE, KC, Sea, etc. and just play behind their star QB's andif they went down for a game or 2 Rattay would be just fine. every great QB usually has a career back-up behind him, and Rattay fits that mold.

In this modern sport of hard tackling and freakishly fast passrushing heavyweights, quarterbacks are in need to evolve from great pocket throwers to adding footwork speed a.k.a. Vince Young. So I do not think Tim Rattay has a chance to shine.
yea Rattay could be a solid backup, someone will pick him up im sure of it

When I saw the title I was like WTF? Chris Simms did well last year. I was scratching my head wondering why they would start Rattay.

Since the 70's the football players have been growing taller and stronger, and Rattay's size really hampers a lot of good throws he would make had he been a bit taller.
Give him some protection and he could be a Doug Flutie kind of player. However, Doug Flutie had some wheels -- Rattay has two lead feet. I think given a tremendous amount of time he could be a good QB, but I think Gruden's actions tell me a lot about Rattay. It shows that a good judge of QB talent like Gruden clearly seees Rattay as not NFL material.

Rattay would never bow down to some young punk who never proved worthy of starting over him, might kick his butt though!

Of course it's "fair." It's part of who he is and what got the poor man's DeBerg out of SF - "Just good enough to get you beat."

Could not have agree with you more,i did not know what Mike Nolan saw in him at the beginning of last season. The guy can have a great game thru 3 quarters and come the 4th he chokes.

Rattay and Jeff Garcia got one thing in common:
BACKUP QBs ONLY
I'm still trying to forget tim Rattay's 4th quarter nightmares! I urge teams to take him out by the 4th quarter.:sam:
I urge TB to try and play him against us in the 4th qtr. He's not a Iner anymore, so I don't care how much he plays as long as his results are the same. Choke-fest!

he may have been a little tired come the 4th quarter from being pressured, knocked down, and sacked all game.
the only knock on rattay is his arm strength isn't the best but he gets by just fine and hes a bit injury prone, although if the o-line could give him some time he wouldn't have been as injured all the time.
i like rattay, a lot. if you put at least a solid team in front of rattay he would do a good job.

No way man!! Dorsey is better than Rattay. Dorsey almost beat the NFC Chamnps last year and only lost by 2 points.
He is a proven winner in high school and college... :banned:

The same can eb said of 90% of the QBs in the league. Hell.. give me a solid team and I'll start at QB too!:thankyou:

I think highly of both....it is just that it is unfortunate that our system and personnel condition aren't intact that they haven't been enable to play the way they know how to play.
I think RATTAY will just be alright....wherein DORSEY, I still think that he can make it here or somewhere else.
Hmm, I think RAT is better than Dorsey...although, Dorsey has had less opportunity to shine.

Riiiight - Rattay needs to add some speed like Payton Manning has....
