I've got an awful feeling that they will give Favre V.D. as a going away present. Then he will make Rogers look great for years to come.:(
Saturday is turning into a scary day for me.

Supposedly GB really likes Hawk, but he may not be worth a #5 pick to them. But they can't trade down, cause if someone grabs Davis at #5, we'll grab Hawk at #6.

I don't think they're that interested in Davis. And Favre loves Bubba Franks, so it won't be a gift either.

I can see GB taking Dabrick if the Jets pass. Thier line is depleated and Farve for sure wont be back with what they have now, and a rookie could realy use a HOF LT.

We'll get a good guy either way, but it would really suck to not get Davis. It'll be very easy to pick up a quality defender with the 22nd, it would be a lot harder to find a playmaker that could improve our offense so drastically with the 22nd.

Really? Long standing joke on the old boards, VD= Venarial Disease, or another STD, sexually transmitted disease.

I prefer to say, I want the Duke! I think if Vernon makes it past the Jets he will be in SF. The Jets have quite a few TE's on there team, just gave up a pick for Jolley and Baker is coming of injury, so who knows.

Worse case scenario..Hawk and VD are gone.. Which means either Young, Leinart, Williams or D'brick fall to us. If a QB falls, we have Oakland 7, Buffalo 8, Arizona 10, That all really want a QB and would probably be willing to trade up. We fall back a few spots and take Micheal Huff. Then everyone will cry on the boards for a week. Then the dust will settle and every new member will have Huff in his name and every old member will have Huff in his sig. And all will rejoice and say he is the 2nd coming of Ronnie Lott. Then this lil guy :bohoo: will come in and play us all the way to training camp.

Well, with 6 & 22 we're in a great position to add talent so I think we'll improve no matter which way it goes.

Of course how much we improve is dependent on who we get.

I know Nolan and crew have a plan - but I'd hate to be in his shoes if I had to choose between 2 or 3 great players once the pick 6 comes.

GAWD, I wish I could fast forward the week to Saturday!!!

I wont be sad, because I have Faith of Nolan and the 49ers making the right choices.

I DO feel concerned about what A.Rodgers would do with a weapon like VD and that chip on his shoulder for not drafting him. He's probably got a big time grudge against us and would love to try to put the hurt on.

I'm sure we'll have an answer tho.

If the Niners decide to pick VD if he's there, will Norv employ a 2 tight end offense and use VD and EJ at the same time with Bryant and Battle as the receivers. It sounds good to me on paper, granted if EJ stays healthy, but will it be effective on the field?

The search for a 3rd receiver can also be addressed in a later round, granted that defense is addressed with the 22nd and the Niners pass on a receiver like Holmes.

Well, if it'll make you feel any better there is a chance the Jets take Davis.

no cause then we could get AJ Hawk and D Williams or some other offensive player.

i think that whoever we pick at 6 will make an impact.

huff, williams, VD, Hawk.....who wouldnt want any of these guys on thier team? they all have talent, im not worried bout it. i have faith that whoever we pick and coaching staff will mold into a great player for years to come.

There are a lot of "worst case scenarios" out there I have read but all in all I think these teams’ needs are going to outweigh their desires. Also I think a lot of the Davis hype is more from the fans than from the team’s respective draft boards.

Any way you cut it we end up with 2 first round impact players. Even if we trade down in the first round we just move down a bit and pick up extra compensation down the road.

Notre Dame's TE: FASANO is of another TE if VD wasn't available.....That meant that if the JETS would pick VD...we can get SUPER MARIO.

or

if GB takes VD, then we can get A.J. HAWK

Then on #22, it is either Manny Lawson or Greenway or Fasano....

lots of possibilites.

Agreed.

It is going to be a productive draft any way you cut it. I think many, including myself have talked about getting VD for a long time and there will be a sense of disappointment if we are not able to get him but lets not forget that he could fall to us and we still may not pick him. Nobody knows what our board looks like or how we will go about our business in this draft.

What ever goes down I am going to role with it and trust in Nolan and crew. So far they have made all of the right moves and they deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Without a pass rush, drafting any secondary player in the first 3 rounds of this years draft is a wasted pick IMO.

Let's worry about the seondary next season along with WR.

if the pack take VD i will swear really loudly, then walk to my fridge and get 2 more beers and start double fisting. but the pain wont be so bad if we can get AJ next pick.

I second the motion on drafting someone to put immediate pressure on the QB rather than a secondary player with an early pick.

I think what everyone is worried about is both Hawk and Davis gone by #6, or VD available at #6 and SF picking someone else. In fact, I could see the latter scenario because I think Ngata is rated higher on our draft board than Davis. He's a playmaker, AND defensive line is a greater need than TE.

ManCans
04-25-2006, 07:57 PM
don't get confused but Ngata is not higher than any guy you mentioned. Ngata is athletic for a big guy but is soft and gets pushed around.
And you have this on what authority? How do you know Nolan and McCoughlan don't have Ngata rated higher than Davis?

The first 5 picks are going to be nuts. GB could take Ferguson and move one of their tackles over to guard, as they do have a need there, although I don't know how well that transition would be.

To me Green Bay looks to be headed towards disaster, and is my pick for the #1 selection next season. Favre will be gone next season, as well as Javon Walker (likely), so things will likely get worse.
