Lions designated defensive tackle Cory Redding their franchise player.

ESPN's John Clayton reports Redding "is not happy" and is hoping to be dealt. Detroit had been trying to sell Redding on the idea of being part of a potentially dominant interior duo alongside Shaun Rogers, but he'd have none of it. It currently seems unlikely that a long-term deal is in the works. He'll get $6,775,000 if he plays under the one-year tender in 2007. Feb. 21 - 6:39 pm et

Yeah...who wants a young perfect DT/DE tweener for our 3-4 system....where oh where would he help us....

Redding would have been a nice pick up.

He got kind of shafted with his tag since he has mostly been a DE, but move inside to DT last year, he got DT money ($6.775m) instead of DE money ($8.644).

Yeah, but not really...

The guy isn't franchise quality at DE, but at DT he is...so it kinda makes sense...

I was critical of the signing at the time and look now, 1 sack and they had the 23rd ranked run D.

Typical idiotic Matt Millen move, the guy has 1 good season and they give him top 5 DT money. Hes not even a top 25 DT. They did the same with Jeff Backus, panicking and overpaying him.

I've never seen anyone worse than Millen.

Because after that, he went and had a *******ty year, showing how overrated he was and not worth being signed by the Niners like a lot of people wanted.
