The old mascot costume was very hot and heavy and actually had a air conditioning type system in it but did not help much. Maybe that is why they changed up. I know there was a change of person playing sourdough during last season and actually had tryouts this past off season for sourdough.

Yeahhh.......not so good. Somewhat resembles a coked-up George Michaels...too friendly looking to pull off the pseudo-scruff. Agree with previous posting...needs to look at least a little bit nasty (not the George Michaels kind of nasty, either).

Yeah, I too liked the old Sam. But I can deal with change. Things I don't like .... well, he does sort of look a bit like a Cowboy. (Gotta ditch that bandana and Miner's did tend to look a bit more scruffy.) I am not happy with anything which might draw comparisons with our rivals in Dallas.

He looks a lot like Woody from the toy storie to me. I want people to fear our mascott.. when kids see him they should cry. He needs to whipe that goofy smile off his face, paint his eyes pure white and grow a goatee.. and after all that, pop his collar and flip off the opposing team.

Last year's mascot, even compared to the guy in the above photo, bigger head for the bigger red beard down to his belly, better hat with logo right on the front. Better shoes, olive-brown 'rubberized' cartoon shoes, not the floppy clown shoes seen in the photo. Large welding-type mitts. And no cheap white pants. And he had the pickax, which was bigger than a lot of kids. But even the old mascot did suggest a Disney character, and had the face like you see, here. But that was okay.

I have no idea why they went with the new version. Unlike Sam, who had, again, a lot more costume than in the above photo, the new mascot seems just like a guy wearing a mask. He just looks like one of the fans, rather than the official mascot. They should just go with the costume from last year.
