People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said it has sent a letter to Blank asking the owner to suspend Jonathan Babineaux, who has denied responsibility for the death of his girlfriend's dog. Babineaux faces felony animal abuse charges in the case.

PETA is urging Blank to suspend Babineaux until the case is resolved.

Gwinnett County Police were dispatched Sunday evening to the Animal Emergency Center of Gwinnett near Lawrenceville, where the staff told them that 24-year-old Blair Anderson had arrived with a pit bull mix that was dead upon arrival.

Police said Anderson and the 25-year-old Babineaux had argued at their home. She said she went to the movies, and when she returned, she found the year-and-a-half-old dog named Kilo in "severe physical distress."

That sucks messing with a defenseless animal like that, for something he didn't even do.

LOL @ suspending him in the offseason. PETA takes an L, and as for Babineaux, if he killed a dog with his bare hands, he should start next season.

Felony animal abuse has a pretty big sentence attatched to it...like 1-5 years or something...but he won't get any jail time...they prolly make a deal or he'll be found innocent...

It'd be more impressive if he had killed a tiger or something with his bare hands.

Anyways, "PETA" is pathetic. I've read articles that they euthanize animals if they can't find them homes. I don't condone animal abuse, and I'm reserving judgment on Babineaux, but I can't stand hypocrites.

He killed a Pit Bull? Wow... For as much as I would dislike him for killing a dog, a pitbul is rather impressive. That takes balls

- I stopped like PETA when I found out that they euthanize more animals than any organization, something on the order of hundreds of thousands per year and they have the shortest time limits too. It's cheaper for them to kill animals and spend more money with BS stunts like this one than it is to try and find them actual homes.

- I started hating them when they actually sent letters to Green Bay saying they should stop calling themselves the packers because it invokes a memory of the cruelty of the chicago area meat packing industry during the industrial revolution. Especially when they said they should rename themselves the Six-Packers. Apparently renaming yourself and encouraging alcohol consumption in a sport where its players cannot condone alcohol products themselves is a better idea. They wouldn't cause any bad feelings with references to a 100 year old industry but MADD would be picketing their gates every weekend.

PETA are a cult of deranged, dishonest, sociopathic cretins. They're doing more harm to animal rights than any other group on earth - reading pretty much anything about that band of merry tossers makes me want to starve some Black Mambas and set them free in PETA HQ.

As for Babineaux - it's his word against hers at the moment. Maybe she kicked it in and blamed him... who knows? This trial-by-media **** has got to stop - all media should be gagged from reporting it. The public has no right to know when a sports (or any kind of) star has been charged with something, only if they've been found guilty. Or if it's funny.
