Moments ago, the guys working the combine for the NFL Network said that Dwayne Jarrett recently has been timed in the mid-4.7 range while working out privately.

If he can't improve his speed before the USC Pro Day workout, there's no way he's a first-round pick.

How does a potential WR run a 4.7? Did he have an anchor tied around him or something? Players dont normally get faster when they put on pads either so this cant be good for this guy. I hope he runs his routes like a mofo.

I hope he runs faster than a 4.7. I want as many good recievers as possible to be pushed into the later rounds. Lets go Jason, Steve or Paul.

It's just some guy saying something. Everybody's freaking out over most likely nothing.

If he runs a 4.7, that is terrible. But didn't Anquan Boldin run a 4.74 ?

Could you imagine Jarrett dropping to our 2nd round pick?

It's not like he was known to be a burner...

I don't know, ask jerry rice or anquan boldin...I believe they ran somewhere in the 4.7's(Even larry fitzgerald was somewhere in the 4.6's I believe). I'm not a big fan of Jarretts, but you can't everyone to be a track athlete out there.

I would love to have him in the second round.

Boldin ran at 4.72 and dropped from a first round prospect to a lower pick. However, he also played as fast as he runs. He isn't a swiftness only guy who puts on a few pads and the extra weight reduces his ability. The same went for Rice who history says by stopwatches ran anywhere from 4.62 to 4.68 at the combine. However, when you don't skip a beat catching the ball and you've got sticky hands, it didn't make a difference.

Fitzgerald never ran anything that slow. He wouldn't be a top 10 pick in the modern NFL if he had. He had in the high 4.4's which wasn't stellar but he wasn't a speed player. He was a big prospect because he had an NFL level game in college, he was running routes and doing the small things better than most prospects ever do. Johnson may be taller, heavier, and jump higher and run faster but he isn't anywhere as good as running routes and playing WR as Fitzgerald was out of college.
