Thats why they are fans and couldnt make a living making these decisions. A smart deal could be made but only if CJ dropped down to atleast 6 or 7 and thats not happening. The dream is over wake up and take the BDPA.

I don't care if he has a 1.5k yard, 17 TD, 85 reception rookie season. Herschal Walker looked like a great athlete to Minnesota. New Orleans thought Ricky Williams was the next coming of Jim Brown. There will be competition, we don't have the draft picks, and we'd be IDIOTS to bank this draft and half of next years on one player. History shows that that never works and even recent team history shows when we trade up (Stokes, Carter) in the first round to get a 'sure thing' athlete, we never get a dominant player.

So many juniors came out at WR this year, next year's "Johnson" will probably fall into the 2nd round for a fraction of the cost.

My position is that I want Calvin Johnson to be a Niner. However, not at what we would have to give up for him. Trading up to #4 would cost us a fortune in draft picks. On top of that we have other pressing needs on defense.

And let's be honest here. How good will Calvin do on our team when we have Alex as our QB? Alex will not be great next season regardless of who he is throwing to. That would be like giving a 3 year old a PS3 for his birthday. He would just be likely to break it and you wasted a fortune on it. Before we get a huge profile WR, we should wait for Alex be an above-average starter. I think that will be the year after this upcoming season.

There are alot of great WR in this draft. Get Robert Meachem at #11 and that will get one need out of the way. I think CJ is going to go top 3.

Definitely not worth all the draft picks we'd be giving up for him. Absolutely not. The defense needs too much help.

I think we could get him for a first this year and next, and maybe a third this year. As for our d, we could get 3 guys in FA to start for us if need be, as well as spend our 2nd,
3rd, and our 4 4ths on our D if need be as well. That's 9 defensive players this offseason, compared to 1 offensive. I'd actually rather get Steinbach instead of a FA starter anyways. a 4:1 defense/offense ratio definately helps our d.
