03-02-2007, 08:56 AM
Next week, the California Senate will be having a hearing regarding the controversial bill, S.B. 49. Which in essence, can prevent the 49ers from building a new Stadium in the Bay Area.
The bill that was proposed by Senator Migden will be heard at the State Capitol in Sacramento, CA on Wednesday March 7th, at 9:30 AM.
Some members of Club 49 and other 49er faithful are going to be at the State Capitol on that day to support the 49ers and speak out against S.B. 49. We encourage any other 49er faithful that can spare some time to come to this event.
We will have some sings made and shirts available to those who attend. If you are interested in coming to the event. Get in contact with me in this thread or send me a Private Message.
There will be several camera crews and reporters covering the event
Come through and support the 49ers and hang out with some of the 49er faithful.
Much 49er love,
RaiderHater

Raiderhater, I'm way too far to go. But is there a way to submit written comments and/or add our name to a petition for these guys to quit wasting taxpayer dollars on their own personal squabbles with private businesses?

Right on!
More and more people are starting to get involved and looking to take a proactive position on this. I expect a good turnout and a lot of media attention.
There are some of us that aren't going to let these San Francisco politicians run the 49ers out of town with their loopy legislation. Not without a fight!
Come on 49er fans, this is a 4th and goal situation and we need to get loud in support of our 49ers. Let’s bring this fight to the doorstep of the other team and shut them down. The 49ers need us right now. This is a historical moment and if the fans don’t turn out in force, we could lose our team.
Join us as we tell the world that the 49ers are too valuable to those of us who live in this area to let the politicians chase them out of town with bad laws and legislation.

Why would you support a bill that would force the 49ers to move out of the Bay Area?
Perhaps you know that the City of San Francisco can’t get a deal done because there aren’t enough 49er fans there anymore to support a deal to keep them there and you would prefer the team moved far, far away?
If this bill passes and the 49ers move out of the bay area what will you do then? Hate on the 49ers some more?

I would be proud to be a supporter of the 49ers AGAINST SB49, but I'd like to know if we could get enough fans to hire a BUS to take us together. We need the Faithful to put their money and signatures where their hearts are!
If we could get enough fans to charter a bus for the trip, it would be so much easier than trying to get x number of cars going to Sacramento. I don't know that the train would be any cheaper...
How many of you would pledge your money to speak up for your team? It's a matter of pride. If this idiotic bill passes, the 49ers would not be allowed to play within a 100 mile-radius of SF! That would be terrible for everybody who is a 49ers fan.
I can ask Steve Fine of the 49ers to organize a chartered bus--if we have enough people to pay for a bus trip. It might cost $49 (nice number), but if you drove there, you'd pay that much in gas, anyway!
I would wear my new stadium shirt that I designed, too. Steve Fine has one, too. And I have one more left.

Who:
The hearing is open to the public, so anyone who would like to attend and show their support is encouraged to do so.
What:
Hearing on Senator Carole Migden's proposed legislation, SB 49 (for more information, visit: http://www.supportourniners.com/speak_out_sb49.php).
When:
RESCHEDULED - We will post the new date and time as soon as it becomes available.
Where:
California State Capitol Building (Large white building located on 10th Street , between L and N streets) Room 112
Sacramento, CA 95814
(Plenty of parking garages are located nearby on 10th street between L and K streets.)
Directions: Google Map (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=1255+10th+St,+Sacramento,+CA+95814&sll=40.513799,-96.064453&sspn=40.013136,81.738281&layer=&ie=UTF8&z=16&om=1&iwloc=addr)
Why:
In reaction to the team’s decision to explore the feasibility of building a new stadium in Santa Clara , California State Senator Carole Migden introduced Senate Bill 49. It’s bad legislation that would prevent the 49ers from forming a public-private partnership with a Bay Area city outside of San Francisco . If passed, the bill would make it nearly impossible for the team to build a new stadium and remain in the Bay Area.

The chartered bus is a great idea if we can get enough people from the Bay Area who plan to attend. I can make the arrangements for a charter bus but I figure we will need at least 25 people who plan to go and are willing to meet up somewhere centrally located like the 49ers headquarters in Santa Clara or someplace in Hayward.
Obviously coordinating something along these lines will be contingent upon the new date and time the hearing is rescheduled for.
If the bus doesn’t work out for some reason, I could probably help put people in contact with others driving up from their area and possibly arrange some carpools.

No, at this time the scheduled hearing on the bill has been canceled by the bill's author, Migden and no future date has been set.
I think we scared her. :madgal:
I suspect we will have a couple weeks notice before the next hearing date is scheduled.

I will come out clean. at 1st i wanted this bill to pass. then i read it over and over. i realized that the niners are all over northern cali and else were.. ( except oakland LOL! ) so to answer the question and giving my opinion heres what i think.
This bill wont pass. Congress will not favor one bill just because a city ( yeah my home town ) of san francisco had over 15 years to build a new stadium for the 49ers. if passed it would have alternating effects for the A's baseball franchise in oakland towards fremont also. and also the quote on quote LOS ANGELES ANGELS OF ANAHEIM. ms. migden must of been eating one of them hemp invested brownies or what? personally i dont really mind now just from 5 years now to just get my luggage back for saturday afternoon leave towards santa clara saturday night waking up sunday morning and just being at the new stadium and leave after the game.
I know im sadden but i learnd that things will never go peoples way and personally it was time for a change.. Santa Clara or San Francisco, i will tell you one thing.. I WILL AND FOREVER WILL BE A 49ERS FAN!!.. FOR LIFE!!
THank you!

Just checking in from time to time to see if anything new has come up RE the SB49 (Midgen) dummy bill.
I hope the Director will post something in the NEWS segment (home page) so that we will KNOW when the bill has been rescheduled or scrapped. That's where I go to first, any way...for NEWS. Messaging back & forth comes AFTER I read the NEWS, IMO.
I don't want too miss out on the action, so RaiderHater, keep us informed, please. (When did you move to the Sac area? Didn't you live in the Bay Area? Seems like I used to bump into you at the old Fan Club in Santana Row.)
Maybe the state legislators had a chance to THINK about the silly, vindictive idea of SB49, after all, and will let it die of smotheration... :towel:

Amen to you jan.. besides california is in enough trouble economically and in city streets to be dealing with a silly stadium.. like i said earlier i dont mind taking the capitol corridor or driving from richmond ( i was born and raised in san francisco ) to santa clara, dump my bags at the hilton hotel ( this bathroom better be clean or else ) and wake up next day all amped and ready for the 49ers game or as i call it.. I looked into the charter bus. It isn’t very cost effective for such a short trip.

It really depends on how many people sign up (and pay) for their share. I go on day trips with our Senior Center, which schedules busses all the time, so it's a possibility, 9erMan. Of course, we'd need to have enough people to warrant chartering a bus--and Sacramento isn't THAT short of a distance. The day trips I go on are closer than Sacto.
I mentioned it to Steve Fine at the 49ers and he didn't think the idea was far off. Besides, if push comes to shove, some of the 49ers staff (workers) might want to go, too, to fill up seats and make it feasible.
