Good, now people can stop pissing and moaning about signing VD to be the highest paid TE in the league.

Isnt graham the backup TE? Scheffler was great, and they go and give another decent TE about 12 mil in guarantees?

Sheffler was OK. I wouldnt say he was great. He almost had 300 yards receiving which isnt too bad for a rookie TE. But he fell out of favor towards the end of the year and he had a couple of drops. Graham is def an upgrade at the TE position. He was solid in NE, then Ben Watson came and he rarely got looks. He'll excel in Denver IMO

I'm kind of glad this drama is over. The bidding was between Seattle and Denver and as expected, he signed in the city where he has played since high school. While I like his attitude, the guy hasn't been anymore productive than Jerramy Stevens - in fact much less productive in the past two years.
I like Graham but I think he's a tad overrated.
Hawks should go after Eric Johnson imo.
Dang that's a lot of money for Graham.

Graham reminds me of Bubba Franks in that he got some unwarranted hype as a pass catcher despite averaging out at about 30 catches and under 400 yards a year got a nice deal and probably will spend the duration of it doing what he does best in blocking.

I'd rather the seachickens sign johnson than them having graham.

The interesting thing here is that Daniel Graham is considered a "solid contributor" at TE while Jerramy Stevens is looked at as an "underachiever". It's kind of funny because Stevens and Graham have almost identical production and Graham was drafted ahead of Stevens. In fact in the past two years, Stevens has actually been much more productive than Graham.
I wish the front office would quit thinking the grass is always greener and just re-sign Stevens. While he certainly has his issues, he's a solid receiving threat and will not command Graham type of money because of ther perception out there about him.
Our front office is operating out of character this offseason, looking for the big splash guys when they should be looking at the solid contributors. IMO, we should either re-sign Hamlin or grab Deon Grant ASAP and re-sign Stevens. We should also try to sign Mahan from TB to backup the center spot and then chill out and get ready for the draft.
I think the reason people say Stevens is overrated is because he all the tools to be a great TE and he's really only average. While his size makes him a great red zone target his drops have really hurt his and the teams confidence in him. It seems once he makes a mistake in a game then it just kind of snowballs. I think the amount of money Graham got is a little much for him. Having said that I think his production will increase in Denver also he will surely help Travis Henry and the rushing attack. Graham is definitely one of the better blocking TEs in the league.

The only part of that I disagree with is how much his production will increase in Denver. Remember, they drafted Tony Scheffler in the 2nd last year and him and he seemed to already be one of Cutler's favorite targets.
While Scheffler can catch his blocking in general leaves a lot to be desired. He's a marginal blocker right now and if he ever wants to be a great TE in Denver he'll have to learn to block. You don't block you don't see the field in Denver. Graham is also being brought in so that we can get rid of Stephan "glass hands" Alexander. He's an upgrade in every possible way over Alexander and I expect Graham's production to go up willn't sky rocket, but it will go up.

I agree with that. That's the reason I didn't see Denver being interested in E. Johnson. Johnson's got great hands but his blocking is suspect. Scheffler already fills that role as a receiving TE. With Shanahan's offense you've got to be able to block to play TE. I've never been impressed with Alexander at any of his stops, has the tools but just can't put it together.

He had drops yes but he was clearly Cutlers go to guy in a pinch, Graham was brought in more for his blocking capabilities and to add another pass catcher in the mix on double TE sets that they run and lastly for insurance in the case of injury to sheffler. Sheffler was one of the most productive TE's the second half of the season, which was when Shanny finally let him into the games.

I agree with needing a blocking TE, but they could have easily signed someone like kyle brady early on in FA, for a ton less, and still have a good developing TE in scheffler.

I could live with this...
Raise the SLEEPER alert on him if he lands in Seattle!

For some reason I remebered him playing good midseason and not playing towards the end. I guess i got it mixed because I just checked his stats.
