NEW YORK -- Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams was suspended for the 2006 season by the NFL on Tuesday for violating the league's substance abuse policy for the fourth time.

The league announced the suspension after Williams' appeal of a his latest positive drug test was denied. Williams met with NFL counsel Jeff Pash on April 10 in an attempt to have the league overturn the test.

Previous positive tests were for marijuana, which Williams acknowledged using. The latest test apparently involved a drug other than marijuana.

Williams retired and sat out the 2004 season but returned last year to play for new Miami coach Nick Saban.

Before being allowed to return, Williams served a four-game suspension at the start of the season for his third violation of the drug program. He ran for 743 yards and averaged 4.4 yards a carry while sharing playing time with rookie Ronnie Brown.

i personally think its hilarious, he quit so he could be a druggie, but then realized he wasn't gonna get much money that way, so he came back, self proclaimed non druggy and he's gonna give it up, and now he goes right back into the stuff, its his own fault, no matter how good he is.

I feel bad for the guy. From what I hear it could have been a case of over testing and it was not even anything that big. It could easily have been a false positive from taking something as simple as allergy medicine.

I think most have this pic in mind though.

I remember reading that it is suspected that his failed drug test may have had something to do with his hloilstic medicine approach. Doesnt matter though, he should have known what he was taking and if it is something doesnt meet the NFL's drug testing policy, he shouldn't have been using it.

Maybe he can help Brandon Lloyd with his rap album for a year...

Kinda sucks that it wasn't for weed, probably something accidental and not even for recreation. Most of the other fun drugs I figure he'd be into are things like shrooms or LSD, which wouldn't show up in a test. Maybe somebody laced his shrooms with something.

SO can he smoke weed while he's suspended? A year can go by pretty quick if you have enough weed.

I think Saban just should have not let him come back last season.

They had already drafted a RB, and Williams is becoming more of a distraction that need be.

On our sports news show (sorry dont know what to call it; rival to sportscentre) ....the guy stated: "IF ricky does play for Toronto you can bet his first trip out to BC (British Columbia) will be circled on his calendar"

...BC has defenetly have some of the finest!!!

I have never been to an Argo's game in my life & I live downtown Toronto (I have though been to 4 Bills games & now hold seasons seats)

...But I will admit IF Ricky does come to Toronto; I would at least go to 1 game

Looking at the 2005 regualr season stats:
http://www.nfl.com/stats/teamsort/NFL/OFF-SCORING/2005/regular?sort_col_1=4

49ers offensive TDs scored: 23
Ravens offensive TD's scored: 25 :sam:

I'm sure you and Boller are very proud of yourselves! :tung:
