Ill pass. I like our OLB core right now. We have 4 solid guys and 2 very good pass rushers coming off the bench.

I watched Michigan a number of times this year and was very impressed. He was disruptive. He did not seem to play as well at the end of the year which is one reason I think his stock has fallen.

I am a huge michigan fan......and let me tell u he excelled in the 3-4 last year. Ron english ran a four man front this year which really quieted him down. I like him better as a DE than an OLB

I don't understand....you say he excelled in the 3-4....and this year he was put in a 4-3 and it quieted him down.....but you like him in the 4-3 better than the 3-4?

You prefer your players to fade into the background and not excel?

I don't know if he is better in the 3-4 or 4-3...just want you to clarify that obsurdity...

I was just about to ask the same thing. My guess is he meant to say he likes him better as an OLB than a DE but I'm not sure.

I'd pass on him unless he falls to the late 2nd round and then it might be worth it to jettison a 4th rounder to move up for him.

He ran on a track he's been running on for months now. That's his top end speed and then some. The combine track is neither asphalt or rubber and is considered slower. Yet a whole lot of other similar players outpaced him. Adams was faster. Crowder was also faster and is bigger, stronger specimen by the numbers. Moss showed similar burst and is better sized for an OLB prospect.

I don't see what he has that we don't already have. Lawson is a converted DE. We could resign Green and he's a quick 2-first-stepper at down DE. We're already converting Haralson and Banta-Cain can pass rush.

I think Woodley will get picked up by a team looking for value in the early 2nd round who sees him as a 3rd down pass rusher his rookie year. He's just not tall enough to be a premier DE prospect nor is he fast enough. But give him a year or two and he could be a solid starting backside DE.

and then instead of looking at numbers alone you turned on some game film.

40 time bla bla bla, combine bla bla bla, pro day bla bla bla.......people comment on a prospect based off numbers is almost laughable. when you watch Woodley first of all you see his versatility. then you see his very solid build. then you see his production on the field. then you see a team leader with a great motor. sorry i'll take a football player like Woodley who will's himself to get it done over some athlete or combine wonder anyday.

I think they call that the "Bill Belichick Approach"....

I was responding in the form of numbers because that was the basis of the original post. That said, my opinion is still that we would be better off choosing another player. I've seen plenty of tape on him. However, I do question his versatility and he's best as a 4-3 DE and clearly building his body into that mold so he can be a more 3-down type prospect.

But at what point do you continue to load up on "leaders who are football players"? We already have half a dozen 'football' players like Haralson, Robinson, Walker and Bajema learning into roles as backups. Having football players is great but even last years 1st round, grabbing Lawson and Davis, is necessary. Football players are tough, dependable, provide character as a team, and fill whatever needs your team has. But sometimes you've also just got to add athletes.

He could be a great pick up in the second, he has alot to prove as well if he were to fall that far considering he was a potential top 10 pick last year. But now it also depends on who fall with him, if say Jarret or Robert Meachem or even Ravies fall to the second I think we would have to look at them first.

I really like Woodley but it is highly unlikely that we choose him with the OLBs we drafted last year and the fact that we got Banta-Cain in free agency this year.

With things like that you never know, because he could have been playing through some kinda injury or something that was slowing him down that he just never played through and didn't want nobody to know about.

Do you guys know that USC only ran for 48 yards total in the Rose Bowl? Off of 19 attempts. USC has a great OL, and couldn't get the yarding on this team.

I don't know what these scouts are saying but I have been impressed with the Michigan front 7. Particularly the guys in the middle like Branch and Harris. If the Rose Bowl was a bad day for Branch, I can only imagine what a good day would be like...

Ya, I saw that, their run defense was excellent.

But also couple that with the fact that USC's running game wasn't worth beans this year. They didn't have any real "playmakers" at RB.

I think the Niners need DE's with size.
