The only pick I dont like is DET with Okoye. They're set inside, they need a DE badly and I think they'd go for Anderson over Okoye.

I don't agree that they are 'set' inside. Rogers may be wearing out his welcome, and Redding can play in and outside. They already signed a pass rush specialist with Dewayne White, and most of the rest of their ends are smaller, pass rush types. If they put Okoye at UT, and keep Rogers at NT, move Redding back to LE, and have White at RE, they'll have a solid starting 4. With Edwards the top end back-up and Cody the top tackle back-up.

Okoye is a better pick for them then the ends on the board there. For me at least.

They would have to show good faith towards Redding and work on an extension for him though. It would be a slap in the face to franchise him at the lower DT salary, then move him to the higher paid DE position right afterwards.

Redding did nothing at DE and exploded at DT this year....moving him back outside would probably be the bone-head move of the year. They won't pick a DT in the 1st round.

That Denver/TB trade is insane...Denver would have to either give up their 1st round in 2008 or a player because they aren't giving up NEARLY enough in your trade.

The Buffalo/Washington trade is also a little crazy....Buffalo has 2 good young safeties...why would they want that scrub archuleta. I also don't know if the Redskins have the cap room for TKO, but who knows with there cap magic.

I don't see NE wanting Mike Williams after signing 3 WR's this year.

I also think the Niners would rather pick an ILB before a C/G...maybe somone like H.B. Blades.

Overall not bad except the trades.

The trades all fall within the realm of trade value according to the charts. In most instances, I have the team trading up giving more than they are getting back.

BUF would use Archuleta at LB, like what they do with Wire. It's a win-win for both sides, BUF moves up to get their RB, WAS moves down and adds a solid LB in the process. Archuleta is more or less filler, throw in for the trade.

NE has Caldwell and Gaffney up for FA after the season, and if Stallworth and/or Washington don't pan out, they have club options to let them go. Again, Williams is just another throw in that could work out for the team, if not, they loose nothing in the process.

I'd rather have Waters as our ILB pick, and I have us taking him with our 3rd round comp pick. Meanwhile, we need to refortify the interior OL with Smiley gone, and Allen on his last year.

I like Waters at ILB too.

I could possibly see Archuleta at LB for Buffalo, but I still think thats a long shot.

You need to look at your Denver/TB trade again...

Denver gets: #4 (1800 pts) and a 2008 5th rounder (~25 pts) = ~1825pts

TB gets: #21 (800 pts), #70 (240 pts), and a 2008 2nd rounder (~250 pts) = ~1300 pts

Denver isn't even giving up equal value because picks for the next years draft are usually devalued about one round. For a prospect like Joe Thomas they will have to give up more value, not less. Maybe they can do that with a player or another 1st round pick.

Hmm...I thought I added everything up right. That's what I get for doing math after a few Black and Tans. I'll have to re-evaluate that one, and fix it.

EDIT: I had Dre' Bly in the trade on paper, and didn't put it in the thread. That's where the discrepancy was.

Round 1

01 - OAK - Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech
02 - MIA - Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame [DET gets: Rd1-9 + Rd2-40 + Duante Culpepper; MIA gets: Rd1-2 + Rd4]

Why would miami move up that high for brady quinn?

If they did do that, don't you think they would rather have russel?

Not so much more so from what i've read there are doubts as to his conditioning and want for the game. 2005 was the only year since highschool he completed a full season and some scouts are skeptical that some of his injuries were present when he missed games.

Not a reach at all for what i believe is the second best WR in the draft. With the new FA's i think we will go WR in round one and i think that Meachem fits best for the niners.

He did finish a game after tearing his bicep. So the guy has toughness, both physical and mental. I think he's stout enough to eventually take over at NT when he gets a couple years under his belt. He plays with great leverage.

Good overall Mock. Just some comments.

104- good pick
110- Is he a OT or a G?
124- Good pick. I suppose we are drafting two young ILB to replace ulbrich and slaughter, right? Although i wouldnt mind if navies stayed.

Waters is the better ILB. Shaw is an edge rusher, and would be a WOLB in a 3-4, or a PRE in a 4-3.

This would be an A+ draft, imo. We add great depth to ILB(picking 2 of my favorite players), DE(incluiding an instant starter), and o-line, while adding a future starter at WR. There's really not a thing that I don't like about this draft. I'm pulling for our actual draft to go something like this.

Really nice work, if our first four picks went like that I would be freakin ecstatic. I'm a little surprised though that you didn't put in a playmaking safety like Piscitelli or someone else. That will be in the version with trades?
Have you done a Niners version with trades? You brought up some good names in later rounds so I'm curious. Bishop is a good call and I'm likin what I'm reading about Otto too.
On a side note, to anyone that cares to respond, who do you think are the best 3-4 ILB's in the NFL right now? I feel like watching some of their highlights and comparing that to the 3-4 ILB prospects coming up. The draft can't come soon enough... :pullhair:

Thanks, but I just meant who are the best 3-4 ILB's in the NFL now?

The more I look at this draft the better it gets, it addresses our major needs and brings in players that look like they will fit our system. If I had to quibble I'd like to see us go with a midround QB or a cover safety instead of that 2nd ILB even though I like Bishop a lot.

I'm really interested to see just the Niner's picks with trades factored in, maybe we trade Smiley to Miami for a late 2nd to pick up Ramirez, Weddle or Alaima-Francis?

Tedy Bruschi

Bradie James

Ray Lewis is conspicuously left off this list, he's just better with 4 lineman in front of him. He showed considerable drop in range and tackling last year.

Majesstik, well done. It's realistic and I would be very pleased. Like the pick up of Desmond Bishop. I've attended many of his games and watched him make quite a few game changing plays late in the game when the score was tight.

I'm surprised that you have Raiders picking defense with their first pick. Once they traded out of that spot you don't think they would grab Levi with that pick or someone to help that horrible offense? I haven't disagreed with you often, but if it goes down like this I'll never doubt you again.

Maj.. I'm surprised! You don't have any potential immediate starters in this draft, except Hill...Willis, "if we get him, might start by mid-season"...
