I don't know but it seems to me like the Minnesota Vikings are to D-linemen as the Detroit Lions are to WRs. It seems like they have taken so many in the first round this past few years and they all haven't worked out that well. I think this time they turn to offense so I chose Ted Ginn Jr.

Why is Ted GInn and Dwayne Jarret on the Poll and not Robert Meachem?

Honestly, that makes me think they're looking for a WR after pick 7. Ginn and Jarrett should both be around near 25, and they may trade up, or wait and see if one slips to them in round 2. It's obvious they need a WR, so I wouldn't count anyone out.

they wont be drafting meachem

Why is Ted Ginn getting votes is the bigger question. :nonono:

Just cause his name is not and that stupid site?
why is it stupid? i'd like to know what makes you think you have more insight than them?

yes the site is great both ginn and jarret are better than meachem.....:ok:
you can't say who is better, all three wr had awesome seasons. it will take years to see which one is better
but most experts have meachem going late first round

yea those experts are good!
I would Draft Ginn at #11 because hes so fast!
or maybe he could actually be a good football player, but you seem to know more

I cant see Minnesota passing Peterson if hes available all the way at #7.

cleveland picked up jamal lewis to a semi big contract, so i think theyll take quinn insted. i think for lack of need, he falls to the bills at #12

I'll go with Anderson just because their pass rush was horrid last year and Udeze looks like a bust.
I agree. Anderson or Landry.

Anderson, or Peterson if they think he's a star in waiting.

And Peterson might challenge CJ for dominance at his slot when we put Houston on the clock.

i actually think it may be too early to give up on Udeze. Landry might go here.
He was the only player in the NFL to start 16 games and not record a sack. Plus, he has two monsters inside and he Udeze couldnt have seen a double team all year.
Bust.

Houston has already said they aren't looking to go QB or RB but people won't acknowledge that. i bet Peterson wins the Houston poll even though they would draft Levi Brown or Landry over him easily.
I think you buy into what coaches say too much. Coaches and FOs throw out smoke screens all the time. I think HOU is definately giving strong consideration to AP, Quinn and Russell.
They have barely anything at RB and even though Kubiak can find good runners late, he doesnt have any where near the line he had in DEN. As for QB, they're running Carr out of town and the only reason why hes still on the team is cause its hard to find a starting QB.
I dont think you can write off the Texans going QB/RB just cause the said so. I dont buy it.

yes but when teams draft a player in the first they don't try to replace him the first chance they get. if anything they are afraid to draft that position again. Udeze has only been in the league 3 years, i find it hard to believe they want to replace him already and bench a former 1st round draft pick after only playing in 3 NFL seasons. i just don;t see them going DE again.
They'd get a lot of flack for going DE again but it looks like him or Landry.
They definately dont need DT. They're set at CB and the LB core looks good. They could surprise everyone and go for AP or Quinn but I dont see it. I think they could Levi Brown also but their pass rush was awful last year. If Adams somehow falls to 7 that ones a no brainer but I dont see that one.

Adrian Peterson has fallen pretty far.
SBbound49ers
03-19-2007, 10:45 AM
teams aren't going to give up on a full-time starter drafted in the 1st round after only 3 NFL seasons. do not expect them to go DE again. remember they also just drafted Ray Edwards, another young DE.
i'm not saying they won't go DE but it is highly unlikely.
Well, for all we know the coaches in MIN may think Udeze has no room for improvement so drafting a DE isnt out of the question. However, Edwards did have a good rookie season and if James can come back strong then DE may not be such a need but you can never have too many pass rushers.

No team admits who it's targeting before the draft. Any source is more reliable than the GM or HC when it comes to draft rumors made public.

exactly my point. no team says who they are targeting but when they say they are not going to draft one player or one position they aren't lying. like i said, if teams are sending smoke screens they don't say anything at all or they leave things ambiguous but they don't say with certainty they aren't going for a specific position.
for example, when Nolan says he isn't drafting a QB or ILB early i don't think he is lying. the same is said about Houton when they say they are not going RB or QB.
they could be though. for example when nolan said he wasn't going to trade barlow, we know how that turned out. if peterson were to fall to houston, they will take him, he is by far the best player available.

fans like the flashy pick but AP is not the BAP for houston at all. they have a good backfield with Green, Dayne, Lundy, Gado, and maybe Domanik Williams. they do not need a RB.
what they do need is LT like Levi Brown, or a safety because Houston definitely has the worst safeties in the NFL. Levi or LaRon will be ranked higher on Houston's big board and as a result are more likely to be drafted.
I think they'll draft defense. They liked Spencer alot at LT and he had some serious injury that I cant recall but hes 24, he should be fine.
I think they'll go for Okoye or Landry.
49ers Ephon
03-19-2007, 12:39 PM
i agree. they go defense, the only player on offense that has a chance of going to houston is a tackle. but overall i agree with you. they will look at Okoye, Landry, with an outside chance at CB like Hall.
yeah they will prolly go d, but green wont solve any problems at rb, i think they should snag peterson if he falls

Come on man... it's one thing to say they won't pick AP, but to say they won't even consider him, the last bona fide playmaker in this draft on offense that can come in and immediately contribute to them, is just silly. He's better than all 5 journeymen you listed, one of which is not under contract and none of which is a 250 carry stud.

He'll continue to get votes every time you put him in the poll, but I can see him falling far before he's the consensus.

Minnesota needs a WR and pass rush. I can't see them letting Anderson get by them with this pick however, and grabbing a WR in the 2nd or 3rd.

I agree, I hope they go offense which will give us another defensive player to pick from, but I don't see anyone on offense worth the 7 pick besides Peterson and I was very impressed with Chester Taylor last year as their running back -- so I see them picking Anderson if he is available.

I like Peterson but they have a multipurpose back who has great speed in Taylor. I don't see the desire for a 1st round back because Taylor is a very solid young back. Possibly 3rd rd for RB to compliment Taylor but with the wholes the team has in the passing game on both offense and defense as well as the pass rush issue I don't see them looking to complete the 1-2 punch at RB in the first round. It's not as big a necessity.
Chester Taylor is good, but is he really the guy you want in a RUN FIRST offense ? To me is good, but nothing special.
If your gonna be Brad Childress and bank all your money on a defense that can't cover and a strong running game, at least have a DOMINANT running back. I've already forgot the name of their QB, and I wish I could forget their WR's, as well.
They need playmakers on offense. There is good secondary and 4-3 pass rushers in the later rounds, I don't see them doing anything with just 1 "solid" skill player on offense.
