can't wait to beat you guys!!!
when are you guys planning on a draft? i hope not for like 2 months with all the injuries that happrn before and during August
That actually can make it more interesting (drafting early).

interesting or absolutly horrible. how can you predict an injury in June. if a player gest injured in October then i can deal with it, but drafting a player in the first 3 rounds for example and you lose him for the season....that would ruin the game before the preseason started. personally, to keep everyone's interest and to make the game more competitive i would have the draft in or around August!
Nail on the head. It sucks if you lose a premeir player, but that's not likely, it's usually a second tier, or a back-up player. IMO, it just adds an extra 'realistic' element...like you are running you team through the offseason, and injuries are a real concern.
I can see why people don't like it.
Also, if you're really good at finding sleepers, you can get them before everyone else discovers them during PreSea.

I commish two private, moneyball leagues, and I started a 'Dynasty League' for this year, now I'm getting into Ace's league...I'm thinking no more for this year. hey maj, of all the fantasy teams I've been apart of, all of them have been auto drafts. I will be commishing one this season with the on-line draft, is this a long drawn out process? I know we have 12 people on our league, I was just wondering how this on line draft plays out....
And the SeaChickens make the league complete. We're all full up now boys. Let's get it on!!

Nice now we just need to decide on a draft date and time and unless there are any objections we'll use the random number generator that someone posted on the site for draft order.
Also any one want to use flex positions?
I'm all for random order...
About the date, I'd prefer to make it later (july), but if not, ok... just let me check out some job interview I've got next wednesday and I'll tell ya 'bout day and hour.

On-line drafts take 2-3 hours, because there is a time limit. In my leagues, draft night is a big party night, since in some cases, it's the only time some of us really get together during the year. We don't have time limits, and spend a lot of time BS-ing, so it takes a while...we usually get some hold 'em going on after the draft as well, so it's a long night.

I've drafted last in alot of leagues and you can build quite well because you get those back 2 back picks.
Those first 2 are the most important though IMO.

Ace,
What does "No Flex" mean...does it mean the draft goes 1-12 every round, without snaking back around? If so, we should change it so the late picking teams have a chance.

I think he means a wildcard spot in the starting lineup... like a WR/RB or a WR/TE

Ahh...that makes sense.
I like the 'flex' position. It's crucial when getting through byes, or injuries.

What we do in the leagues I run, as far as starting rosters, is if it's legal in the NFL (except 3RB formations) you can run it (ie. 5WR sets, 2RB + 3WR, 1RB + 3WR + 1TE, 3WR + 2TE, etc...). The lack of talent, especially during bye weeks, or when you roster is banged up, help keep you compatative without having to make extra transactions. My :two cents:
I don't care when we draft...but the sepentine style is most fair in single season leagues.
Ace Matherton
06-04-2006, 11:02 PM
Alright I've changed it to 1QB 2WR 1HB 1TE 1(WR/TE) and 1(WR/RB), I think that will fill the need for starters fine.
Ace Matherton
06-04-2006, 11:17 PM
As I said before anytime for me before August 23 is fin preferably if on a weekday after 615pm pacific.
If it's on a weekday, I need it to be sometime like 8:00 or after. I live far from work and because of firewall issues, can't draft on Yahoo! from work.
Stupid work places that don't let people draft their fantasy teams. :whistling:
majesstik1
06-05-2006, 01:46 AM
in theory that makes sense but when you lose because you have to start a back-up RB like Shaud Williams and you lose a game because a player like Hicks gets 2 carries for 11 yards you might change your mind. drafting a minimum of 36 RB's is absolutly crazy, or even 48 WR's.
I don't think you understood my post. I was saying the same thing you just did here. I want the flex position, so when your team is weak at RB or WR one or two weeks, then you have the resources to stay competative. I'll be darned if I'm starting Shaud Williams when I have a capable WR or TE to fill that spot.

thats fine if everyone will be here and will stay the whole time because that is 11pm here in Buffalo and i would prefer not to be drafting at 4am. i will say around the date of Aug 23 should be pretty good for me.
I agree and dont think its fair to have the east coaster's be up at that time so I nominate either saturday or sunday Aug12-13 or 19-20 as the draft dates we pick a time that we can all be there. I'm open any time those dates and they are close to the beginning of the season.

What up fellas!
(((Flash-80))) checking in. This was my first draft of the year. I usually don’t draft until the preseason games are over. But since this is a free league, I guess it doesn’t matter. And since no $$$ were at stake I decided to NOT do the robot format of 2 or 3 RBs in the first three rounds. Instead I made some less popular picks.
1st round
Ronnie Brown at 8.
Sure I could have chosen the Edge. I could have also chosen Caddy. I probably should have picked Lamont Jordan, but he’s a Raider and I’d hate to root for him. So I chose Ronnie Brown a high risk/ high reward type player. I like him in MIA this year. If he can stay healthy the whole season he should be very productive. Last year Ricky (743) and Ronnie (907) combined for 1650 rushing yards and 325 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. Although, it’s a lot to ask of Ronnie to carry for that many yards I think he can easily top the 1400 rushing mark in that offense with 10 tds or so. Add in about 300 or more receiving and he should be a solid pick.
2nd round:
T to the Izzo
I usually target a RB here... but decided to go the elite WR route.
3rd Round
Plaxico Burress
This guy had 76 catches, over 1200 yards and 7 tds last year. He was also targeted 166 times. That’s more targets than Steve Smith, Chad Johnson, Marvin Harrison and Tory Holt. That’s over 10 targets a game. Just the sheer numbers could make this guy formidable. I'm aware Eli and Plax aren’t the best of friends off the field, but on the field he has been his favorite target. And with Eli getting more comfortable with another year, this guy could be a nice surprise.
4th round
Chester Taylor
This is my dark horse pick. This guy has low mileage but is not proven. He will be running behind FB T Richardson and LG Hutchinson and is the favorite to win the starting job. I’m not sure he’ll be this year’s Lamont Jordan. But the last time I had this feeling and jumped on an unproven player for a starting RB was in 2002 when Duece McAllister took over for R Williams in New Orleans. With all that said, I had to get the Mewelde handcuff as insurance.
5th round
Reggie Bush (My 3rd RB)
Everyone knows he’s one of the best prospect to hit the NFL since Barry. The ceiling for this guy is among the highest in recent memory. If Duece’s knee slows him down or if Duece goes down again. This could be one of the biggest value picks in the draft. Even with Duece as the starter, Bush should get plenty of action.
6th round
Eddie Kennison
If he can come anywhere close to his 1102 yards and 5 TDs of last year. He will be a perfect #3 WR.
7th Round
Deshaun Foster
Another High risk/ high reward. Solid for a # 4 back. I would have liked to get DeAngelo as well, but had to fill other spots. In the very least, Deshaun should be a solid starter in the beginning of the season while DeAngelo is still learning the playbook and blocking schemes. The Carolina situation could become a RBBC later in the year. The key is DeShaun’s health, which is shaky at best. But when healthy this guy runs like a beast!
8th Round
Ron Mexico
I realize this guy is inconsistent. He can win a week single handedly for you, he can also lose a week single handedly for you. It’s Feast or Famine with this guy. With the rushing yards and rushing tds making up for his passing deficiencies, every year he seems to put up decent fantasy point totals. If you play the match ups right this guy could be okay.
9th Round
Kurt Warner
With two of the best WRs in the league, a newly added pass catching RB and a team that likes to play catch up, this guy could likely start more games for my team than Vick.
10th Round
Ben Watson
My sleeper TE.
11th Round
Keyshawn Johnson
12th Round
Eric Moulds
13th Round
Ben Troupe
Solid Back up TE
14th Round
Mewelde Moore
15th Round
Miami Def
16th Round
L Tynes- Kicker
Overall, I like my team. I did however, probably chose more “Boom or Bust,” type players for my usual tastes. I usually stick with a little safer bets in the beginning and take more chances in the middle rounds. But nonetheless, I feel confident that this team will be competitive. Hopefully I'll have lots of luck and an injury-free season.
We drafted a little early, a preseason injury or two could completely change things. But I’m glad we drafted early. It gave me the opportunity to look back at this draft and see what I would’ve done differently. It’s good practice for the money leagues!
Good luck to all!

I'd temper my enthusiasm about Plax. I had him last year, and he absolutely sabotaged my team done the stretch, putting up terrible numbers. He's an enigma at the very least.

Fair enough... it's peaks and valleys for lots of WRs. Some more than others.
It was either Plax, Hines or Roy Williams.
After I made the pick I was second guessing myself for not takin Hines or Roy. After those guys it was receivers like Javon Walker or Darrell Jackson. One guy I really wanted was Mason but it was a little early. But oh well. I could've also chosen a RB. But I figured the quality of RB I could get would be available in the 4th round.
In the end I decided that Plax will hopefully get a large share of opportunities again this year, hopefully he'll capitalize on them more often this time around.
Hopefully this pick doesn't come back to bite me!

Otherwise this could be the Cedric Houston show? Is Blaylock still there? I'm not sure it matters who starts for the NYJs...

Thanks to Jerm I just picked up Ahmad Green.......who sounds to be off the PUP and ready to practice in a week or so......
I think He's going to have a breakout year...........
Ahman Green for Randel El ???
Let's see...
Ahman Green appears like he's going to be the starting RB for GB. Jerm also has Gado. Starting RBs are huge in fantasy football. Any potential starting RB has value as Ahman was chosen in the 8th round of our draft. Even Tru says so himself "I think he's gonna have a breakout year!" The potential is there.
Randle El is probably the third WR for the Skins. Although Randle El started last year for the Steelers he put up a measley 558 rec yards and 1 TD. He did have 2 punts returns for Tds. But even with that, in our scoring format he scored 87 points for the whole year. This is on par with undrafted receivers like E.Parker, A.Chatman, Corey Bradford and Doug Gabriel. People remember Randle El for his trick plays and flash, but in fantasy he's almost not draftable. This point is proven as he was chosen in the 14th round of our draft.
Someone seems to have gotten swindled...
I could be wrong and Randle could blow up this year... But it is unlikely as he'll be fighting for catches (Santana Moss, Lloyd, & Cooley). I think you could get a legitimate WR for someone like Ahman, who in recent reports say is looking to be on track in his recovery.
Even if Ahman goes down and he doesn't play a down this year. You can get a similar value WR in free agency.
Sorry to be a hater. But I put my vote in for a VETO!
How many vetoes does it take for a reversal??

All good...
Would you have drafted differently if there was money involved?
Only one preseason game has been played and there were no major injuries to drafted players. I would have liked to get the money sorted pre-draft as well, but I don't think it is too late. We'd have to do it real soon though, like by friday. But it doesn't really matter.
What matters is that it appears that most people don't want to play for money, so this is probably a dead subject.

No wouldnt have drafted any different and I dont want to offend anyone here by saying they are not trustworthy (I respect all of you), but for me I have a lot more confidence in my team than I do all the owners actually putting up the money. I've just done deals like this where 3-5 people get the money in the account, a couple of owners drag arse, and by the time the season starts some of those owners have lost a guy or two and dont throw down. Then its all for not and if the guy who's papal account it is is'nt trustworthy you dont get your money back either. Like I said I've just been burned too many times in situations like this over the net.

All trades are decided by league vote majority rule if you dont like it go to your team page and decline it no sense in stating your feelings if you dont plan on making a decision. Bit lopsided but both owners feel it improves their teams so its OK by me.

Honestly truesac IF this trade gets banned I'll have lost all hope for this being a fun league, its not an aggregious variance between the two players and neither team becomes a "super power" from it. Fitz for Green would be one thing but Randle El seems alright especially since both owners get a position they needed prior to the trade.

I'm with TrueSac and Jerm on the trade. You can nitpick the everlovin' crap out of any trade if you want to. I'm only put off by the egregiously ridiculous ones like Carson Palmer for Ben Troupe or something.
A RB that had an injury marred season last year and who hasn't proved he will be back - not to mention will probably be splittin' carries with Gado and Davenport - for a guy who may be the Redskins second receiver is in no way a ridiculous trade. Will someone get the better deal in this one? Probably. But at this point, there is no reason to believe that either one of them will light it up. Right now, they're both B or C list players, each with the potential to be A list or D list.
If we're going to nitpick this trade, it's gonna be a long season as far as trades go. IMO, the only reason to ever veto a trade is when you think someone is being taken advantage of or if two guys are working together to stack one team. I don't see either as even a remote possibility here.
Totally fair trade as far as I'm concerned.
I can see where you are coming from. However, I personally didn't think it was nitpicking. Randle El at best is the 2nd WR for the skins. The second leading WR for the Skins last year gave you a whopping 22 catches for 217 yards and no TDs. Given Randle is much better than Patten, he has also Lloyd to compete with for catches this year. Randle is waiver wire material (14th round). Green chosen in the 8th has much more value.
I'm not trying to be a hater... I got love for you Sac! But I think he could've received a better WR. Atleast give him your third best WR (McCardell). Atleast he's the number 1 WR on his team.
Carson Palmer for Troupe? Who's to say Carson won't be fully recovered? He's still rehabbing. Ben Troupe on the other hand was the 12th highest scoring TE last year according to our settings. So he definitely warrants a spot on a roster.
Get this! BEN TROUPE SCORED AS MANY FANTASY POINTS AS RANDLE EL LAST YEAR!!!
Ben Troupe- 530 yards 4 tds
Randle El- 558 and 1 td
Randle did have 67 passing yard and 1 passing td.
He also had 2 return TDs.
But similar stats... similar final fantasy point totals... yet Randle is seen as a much better player? He was starting last year. This year he may or may not be a starter. Maybe in real life he brings a lot to the table. But fantasywise, unless something happens to Santana, he won't get as many looks.
Sorry to be "Lame"...
I think it's fun to debate these things....

in that case i have no problem with the trade, not trying to screw anybody. had you drafted the players yourself then i would say your S.O.L and the trade was a bit lobsided. but since Yahoo and their great football knowledge drafted the players for you, i'm all for some competitive balance and say the trade is fine.
although i will say....you can hardly complain with your roster because YAHOO did a good job drafting for you and your team looks pretty strong.
Good points... However, I am unable to take my veto back... yahoo won't let me! THEREFORE I VETO!!!!!! ha

i actually agree with you and not to be a jerk but Randle El had slightly more fantasy value because he had a pass TD so his stats were...
67 pass yards 1 TD, 73 rush yards, 558 recieving yards 1 TD
I thought I put that in there... He also had 2 punt returns for TDs.
Regardless, according to our settings in 2005:
Randle El scored a total of 83.78 points.
Ben Troupe scored 77 points.
Much of a difference? and that's when he was a starting WR...

TO VETO OR NOT TO VETO!
This was a sore subject in one of my leagues last year. The $ stakes in the league were pretty high, so people were really into it.
We used to have it so that if 1/3 of the owners vetoed, the trade would be rejected. But before the draft we made it clear that any owner could veto for any reason they wanted to. So when you drafted you didn't count on trades. However most trades would go through anyway since most people wouldn't accept a lopsided trade.
To make a long story shorter...
One trade in particular got vetoed last year involving TO (Before the suspension). One of the owners got pretty upset. But he was ahppy again when TO got suspended.
Anyways, we now use a Yahoo Plus League feature. With this feature Yahoo acts as a third party to any questionable trades. Kinda cool feature.
If you have a problem with a trade, there is a button to click. The link allows you to send Yahoo a message and reasons why you think the trade should be vetoed. They read it and make a determination. Their decision is final.
Now we are happy fantasy football people...

If you're suggesting that you're offering him something instead of the trade he's already made, it's too late for them to back out of it now. The only thing that would stop it would be for the commish to overrule it.
I don't think the commish could overrule it.. Unless he let's it go through and then manually puts the players back on their respective teams.
It's set at League Votes.
The only way it would get stopped is if the majority of the owners veto it.

08-08-2006, 01:08 PM
I've had trades resolved by Yahoo! and they've got to be pretty bad for them to overturn them. I highly doubt that this one would be overturned given all the factors surrounding Green.
The other thing I would say on this (not directed at you JR) is that you should be careful about rejecting trades because people might get spiteful and IMO, that ruins the league. Again, just MHO but I think it's bull***** when people object to a trade because they think it's going to give someone a competitive edge. Everybody trades to get a competitive edge or what would be the point?
Just as an FYI, if someone's trade is even remotely in the ballpark of equal value, I won't be that guy that vetoed it.
Understood Ant...
I can see where you are coming from. Vetos people can take personally. They shouldn't take it personally and just offer up another trade that hopefully wouldn't get vetoed.
I also think that if people stated their opinions more often than not, it could be a fun league as well. I hate boring leagues where it's quiet. People will disagree for sure, but sometimes that's the fun of it. The more active members the better.
Especially early in the preseason when everyone knows everything. and then during the season watching all their predictions crumble. I know... I do it all the time!! haha
I hope no one takes anything that I say personally. It's all in fun.

Even if Green is a RB by committee he is going to get over 500 yards which is all Randle El had and he was the #2 WR, now he is the #3. RB's are more valuable in fantasy and Green as the starter will get 500 yards in his sleep, BTW it isn't his #1 RB it is his #3 RB behind Edge and i think Willie Parker.
My thoughts exactly...
Randle will not even get enough looks in that offense.

Green is 1 year removed from a 1000+ yard season and the Skins have already said that their starting WR's are Moss and Lloyd. even if Randle El sqeaks into the starting lineup, how much production do you expect from him as the #2 WR, he only had 500 yards and 1 TD last year. Gado is a cinderella story that will end up 3rd or 4th on the depth chart especially because he isn't impressing this year and Herron may start over him and Davenport isn't the future either especially not with injury problems. when healthy Green is the starter and we all know it, apparently he is looking good and will be 100% for the season.
Its good to see I'm not the only one that thinks this is lopsided.
Any potential starting RB is worth more than a waiver wire WR.
Like I said previously, the 2nd leading WR for the skins last year gave you 22 catches 200 or so yard and zero tds... Now Randle has Lloyd to compete with too. It doesn't look like a productive fantasy season for Antwaan.
If anything the recent news on Green has increased his stock.

I don't either...........:nonono:
Wait till you see my next trade....lol
You're a sneaky dude. Can you teach me your Jedi mind tricks???

On Deion Branch...
Tom Brady loves the guy! I read somewhere that Brady was clamouring for the Pats to pay Deion accordingly.
His hold out shouldn't affect him too much since he's a vet and knows the playbook.
He is Tom's favorite receiver by far. If he can stay healthy again, he should post solid numbers. Something similar or (Most likely) better than last years 998 and 5 tds stats.
He's a solid #3 WR for any team.

Man if you think this is a critical trade.......you are going to ish bricks once the action reallly begins.......
You are blowing this trade way out of proportion at this point.....At first it was mentionable, but now it has become a bit old.......especially since it is all for fun with NO money involved.
And like you said........Randle El breaking out and Green faltering is as much of a possibility as Randle El underachieving and Green getting back to his old form.
Both scenarios are just as likely as the other and that is why either side can be debated just as accurately.
And remember Karma is always on my side............
Ha!
Old? Because you want the least attention on it so it will go through? It's been less than a day... and it's the only action going on in the league right now.
If it were any other two players, I'd probably be posting my opinions on them as well, even if I agreed with the trade.
I honestly don't think both scenarios are just as likely. Last year was Randle's best season, and I think he had more opportunities as the starting WR for the Steelers.
I, like you, think Green is a much better bet. If someone wanted a 500 yard WR you can find those in free agency. Marty Booker is available scored more points than Randle last year and he's not a 3rd WR this year. There are others...
This is for fun and no money is involved, but it's also fun to have people who care about the league enough to say what's on their mind.
With all that said...
I wouldn't mind if the trade goes through. Good luck to you Sac!
:fortune:
I want one of those... I have Shaun Alexander in two leagues now. :shoot:

Ok.......now I know it is going to be almost impossible to get one past you....
Next time it is probably in my best interest to sit back and watch instead of joining the discussion and drawing it out.
I'd say there should not be a discussion until its official either way, let everyone judge based on their own opinions rather tahn being swayed by posts here. Once official (it goes through or is declined) then let the discussion begin and the humility dispensed!!!!!!!!
What ***** dropped Dallas' D for the 49ers D......................:fishing:

What ***** dropped Dallas' D for the 49ers D......................:fishing:
That would be me. 49ers scored more defensive TDs last year than anyone else. I hoping for the same this year, plus, I couldn't bring myself to root for Dallas at all. I still have TB, so it's only my #2 defense, and I can feel good about rooting for them.

A trade has is being made! A trade is being made! :francis:
All kidding aside, given the circumstances surrounding those two, I think it's as fair a trade as any but I'm sure someone will come along and scream "Foul!" based purely on the high profile of one of RM.
If it's of any relavance, TSN's whole team was auto-picked, and mine was auto-picked for the first 4 rounds, because the draft room wasn't working for me. I had to restart my computer, and go to IE to get it to work.
So, it's highly possible either of us could have just drafted these guys ourselves, had we been able to.

**** your quick Jerry..................I also picked up the Dallas D through waivers(or at least I thought I did), yet it seems you put yours through a few hours before me.
I'm stuck with two ****ty defenses.........:madgal:
So? The difference between a bad D and a good D is about 1-2 points a game...

You can blame that on the higher waiver priority! ha!
Once you use it, you move to the back of the line for waivers. I think I had the 4th or 5th waiver priority or something.
I figure since I used one of my last picks on Def, I could just play the match ups all year and not feel bad about dropping defenses.

FFFFOWWWWWWLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Randy Moss "IS" high profile! He's gone over 1000 yards in all but one season in his 8 year career! He's also averaging 12.25 TDs per year!!!
Larry sucks, he looks like he's gonna lose a lot receptions to Anquan and their pass catching RB edge! He's had one good season! Might be a fluke!!!
WHAT A RISKY MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too risky for my tastes!!! Therefore I must VETO!!!!!
What are you guys thinking!!!!????????????????????????????
Hahaha!!!
Calm down dude... I was just joking...
It's a fair trade. I like it! Not sure which side I would prefer to be on though.
Aaron Brooks' inconsistency scares me. Plus Moss is a Raider and I'd hate to root for him. That alone is good enough for me to like Fitz better.
Brooks did have some nice seasons locking onto Horn, so Moss should have a productive season.
Fitz has the benefit of having other great players like Anquan and Edge on his team. Teams will not be able to focus on him.
Both should do well. I have both ranked towards the bottom of the elite tier of WRs.
NICE TRADE!!!!!
