The News
The Chargers have talked to four teams regarding a possible trade for restricted free agent running back Michael Turner. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Bills, Cowboys, Titans, and Jets have all expressed interest.

Our View
The Bolts placed the highest tender on Turner, but it's unlikely they'll get first- and third-round picks in any proposed trade; in a similar situation, the Falcons wound up with two seconds and a two-spot jump in the first for their RFA, quarterback Matt Schaub. Of the prospective suitors the Bills and Titans have the greatest need for backfield help. The Packers, also widely reported to be in the mix for Turner, have evidently not contacted the Chargers.

Well I think he'd be a good running back if he got a starting job. At least a 1,000 yard back. Very explosive player from what I can tell. Titans and Bills should make a run at him. I'm surprised the Jets are still interested in him. Didn't they just sign Thomas Jones?

I was thinking the same thing. The the Cowboys also have Jones and Barber. I find it more odd that they would be interested.

Yeah that's even more strange. Wasn't it just a couple weeks ago where the Cowboys were thinking about dealing Julius Jones somewhere? Are they still planning on doing that?

Wade Phillips worked in SD, so that may be one reason. I think they should just give the load to Marion Barber. That guy runs with so much power and is such a good redzone threat.

I think he'll end up a Bill.

I think he'll end up a FA next year after backing up LT one more season.

Julius Jones has worn out his welcome in Dallas, from what I hear. The good performances by MBIII don't help his case, either.

If the Chargers are smart, they'll hang onto Turner. LT is the man, but he has a history of breaking down toward the end of each season. Before Turner got hurt this past year, he was splitting quite a few carries and it really helped keep LT fresh at the end of the year.

Unless the Chargers get an offer they can't refuse, I don't see Turner being traded.

Another to the mix GB deal possible!

Now that the Randy Moss ru mors have died down (for now), the latest Green Bay trade talk has the Packers sending the 16th pick in the draft to San Diego for the 30th pick and running back Michael "The Burner" Turner. Stay tuned.

Seems like an okay trade.

Ya, he kinda maxed out his rookie year, which is weird. A big MNF game, a couple other big games made for a promising career that hasn't panned out. I didn't even think he was the best RB on DALLAS last year.

Or the Chargers were winning a lot, had a complete offense, and the AFC secured which reduced LT's role.

LT is arguably the most well conditioned athlete in the entire NFL, and actually gets better towards the end of games, especially when the Chargers need someone to go to. Schottenheimers biggest mistake last year was when he STOPPED giving the ball to LT in the 4th quarter against the Pat's in the playoffs when he had over 100+ yds going into the 4th.

The Tennessee Titans are getting serious in their search for more help at running back and they started by visiting with restricted free-agent Michael Turner of San Diego.

Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt was not available for comment. But San Diego general manager A.J. Smith had said several teams had inquired about Turner as the NFL meetings wrapped up last week.

I would think the giants should have interest in Turner. When they did play well last season it had a good amount to do with Tiki Barber....whom they replaced with reuben. ouch. They have brandon jacobs who is a bruiser but it was the 1-1-2 punch of tiki breaks one, tiki breaks one, then jacobs pounds it into the end zone that got them so many wins last season. i dont think droughns will be able to replace tiki, and i think turner would have a better chance to be an everydown back and pick up the yards than jacobs will.... i dont think eli's passing game is going to be anything to rely on either....

anyone agree with me? or think that the giants might have/should have gone after Turner?

Just to be clear, I don't think LT has any problems finishing games, just finishing seasons strong. I've been down here 3 years now, and it was the same story the first two. He started out gangbusters, but then started getting nicked up. Trust me, his performance down the stretch really suffered. He lacked the burst and explosion you'd see early on in the season.

Now, last year was the first where he was dominant the entire year. Turner is an exceptional back (could be a starter for many teams), and production out of the RB spot didn't drop all that much while he was spelling LT. I'm just saying keeping Turner is a wise insurance policy, especially when they'll be making another Super Bowl run.

absolutely. either way, if turner doesnt get the "starter" i think those 3 RB's combined would make a good combo, but itd probly be a helluva paychek 2
