They were talking about this on NFL Network the other day since David Carr had come in for a visit. In my opinion, I still think he should be the starter for the team. They didn't win a game without him when he was injured this past season. And if you look at his numbers, they weren't elite, but he was pretty decent in terms of efficiency. And he has a pretty nice QB rating once he gets into the post season. I really don't believe that he should be on any sort of "hot seat" at this point.

I like Jake Delhomme.

He had an off year with an offense plagued by injuries

Thats his team. They were just a bunch of under-achievers last year as a whole

The novelty is starting to wear off with Delhomme. He's good but not great. How long does a team keep a good qb on the roster? Not that Carr would be an improvement... Sooner or later you gotta draft for the future.

Id give delhomme anothe year or 2.

If he doesnt pan out, then yes, start looking for the future in the draft.

I still think he's just as good when he took Carolina to the Super Bowl. He's always been that "good, but not great" kind of quarterback. But he usually makes the right decisions at the right time. Especially in the big games. Steve Smith no doubt has helped him though.

I agree 100%.

Tough question........

He hasnt been getting it done recently and his completiton % and accuracy have been horrid. Plus, he makes alot of dumb throws.

On the flip side though he has brought them to a SB, knows the offense, and has a tremendous ra-poor with Steve Smith.

QB is by far the hardest position to just plug in a new starter so for that reason I'd stick with him but if I was Carolina I'd do everything in my power to acquire a top backup.

Yes he should start over Carr...Carr is definitely not better than Delhomme.

yes, unless they sign carr, then i would say open competition. unfortunately i dont think chris weinke will ever thrive in a pro style offense, but i think they cut him anyway didnt they?

His completion percentage was actually the highest of his career last season.

Well, 61% is barely passable. I cant find a site that ranks QBs by completiton % but Delhomme was in the middle of the pack in terms of his production.

Plus, he was 21st in YPA which is why his completition % went up......he had to resort the shorter passes to help his poor accuracy.

Just because he improved his accuracy doesnt mean its still not a big problem.

But despite his low accuracy in the past, it's still been enough for him and the rest of the Carolina offense to make plays. Honestly, I think it was just a down year for the entire team. Steve Smith was injured the first two games, and Delhomme missed three. They might have made the playoffs if he was in the lineup.
