he is coming back just fine and is supposed to be ready for training camp.
Great! so I can rank him right below Billy Bajema on my list of TE's....

I read that he's coming back and looks to be in great shape. Ken Dorsey said it's nice to be playing with his former teammate and he looks every bit like the player he was in college.

I don't expect him to have a great season or anything.. but I think he might be a late round fantasy steal.. with the right attitude and some solid quarterbacking from Frye, he can definately put up numbers..

Brwons need a better QB than Frye for him to have a great season
Exactly...even if he did break out and stopped being a retard....the team around him may not allow a good season....
Thats too many ifs for me.

So far Frye's more proven then Alex Smith, and everyone expects Davis to break out..
In all reality, I have a feeling Frye will do okay, nothing spectacular, but show some good improvement.. Mostly I like his offensive line, the additions of Shaffer and Bentley were great.

How fast did Winslow run his 40 at the combine and how is his strength compared to Vernon Davis...just curious because both were selected 6th overall

Good post. And we all know how well Todd Heap has played despite having Mr. Boller at QB for him. Frye will be good enough for KW2 to put up solid numbers.

Yeah, I figure if Frye's offensive line plays to it's potential, with the time he'll have, KW2 should have no probs..
@SF49erFaithful
I believe Winslow ran in the low 4.5's.. Might have been a high 4.4.. Not sure of his strength numbers, but they were't as good as the strength numbers Davis put up though.
Overall I thought Winslow should have went about 12-15 rather then 6. He had better knowledge of the game then Vernon though, and was more polished.. The lack of scoring at the end of KW2's career at Miami made me not a fan of his.

If both were coming out.. and I had to pick one.. I would say Vernon Davis. He has more potential. I think coming out Winslow was more NFL ready, and had a better understanding, etc.
But overall I dislike Winslow's attitude, the lack of scoring at the end of his career, and he simply has less potential.

Winslow was recorded at about a 4.51 at one point after the draft, I remember my friend telling me he was one of the faster tight ends he's ever seen, plus he plays much faster then what he times.. in football pads etc, him and Davis are very close in speed.
Ran avg 4.52 at Miami's pro-day
http://www.nflfans.com/draft/article.php?story=20040227224927459
Feb 28th was Pro Day at Miami. More than 150 NFL scouts and coaches were in attendance to watch some of the top prospects in all of college football. The surface was grass, what Miami officials called "tee box grass" - obvious reference to grass you find in the tee box on a golf course (sturdy, short cut). According to reports there was a bit of a breeze.
Sean Taylor, cornerback Taylor stood in at 6-2½, weighed 228 pounds (two pounds less than at the combine), and ran for a 4.51 average.
Kellen Winslow, tight end Winslow (6-3 7/8, 247 pounds) was actually four pounds less here than at the combine. He lifted the bar 24 times and ran for an average of 4.52 seconds.
Vince Wilfork, defensive tackle Wilfork was 6-1 1/8, 323 pounds, lifted the bar 36 times and ran for a 5.08 average.
Vernon Carey, offensive lineman Carey was 6-4 3/8, 335 pounds, did 30 reps in the strength lift and ran for an average of 5.33 seconds.
D.J. Williams, linebacker Williams was 6-0¾, weighed 250 pounds and had an average 40 time of 4.55 seconds.
Jonathan Vilma, linebacker Vilma was 6-0½, 233 pounds and had a 4.61 second average in the 40.

Yes they both have unproven QB's, but.....
They are both practically Rookies except VD has a good head on his shoulders and more talent. Winslow has less physical ability (although still impressive) and so far he has done some dumb things.
Although Winslow has probably learned his lesson, you never know with these guys...

I know, but Winslow also knows the playbook and has a little bit of NFL experience.

I was watching Best **** Sports Show 50 Biggest Blowups and one of them was Kellen Winslow Jr. really angry about something and was telling the reports he was really pissed. Not sure why though...BTW it was when he was in college in Miami...not on the Browns
The old "I'm a fkn souldjah!!!!!"...

Frye is great. I actually think we should had gotten him in the third and Edwards as our first pick.

It had something to do with the way the opposing team was tackling I think. Trying to take players out at the knees etc.

Speaking of KW and VD... I found this interesting.
http://fantasysports.yahoo.com/analysis/news?slug=fantguru-06offseason_adp&prov=fantguru&type=lgns&league=fantasy/nfl
Heath Miller (Pit) – I am very surprised Miller is not being drafted sooner. He seems like s steal around pick 110-115.
Vernon Davis (SF) – Davis just missed the top 100 overall. Why he's going before Miller I'll never know.
Kellen Winslow (Cle) – Winslow is not in the top-100 yet and rightfully so. However, we cannot forget how much talent this guy has. He is certainly worth grabbing about 110 picks into the draft and stashing away on your roster.
Just thought it was funny that at about the same draft postion, Winslow is worth grabbing after 2 knee surgeries but Davis seems to be a stretch. :pullhair:

It's cause Alex Smith is still unknown. I can't wait until preseason. I want to see how he has progressed.
