Regular Season - Patriots vs Bears
Post Season - Chargers vs Patriots
Colts vs Patriots is great but if San Diego won this game the Colts would have probably never made it to the Super Bowl.

you seem to support the ravens a lot like in the rep thread u said the ravens are 100x better than the 49ers. How bout u make interesting and useful comments than raving about a team with only one superbowl.

Chicago @ Arizona on monday night football was my favorite game of the year. Matt Leinart tore up the bears D and even after they were down 24-23, he still put them in position to win the game(it's too bad their kicker choked). They were dumb to go conservative in that game.

Even though the Eagles have zero Super Bowls I would rather have a contender that is in the hunt. You can ask many veteran posters here about the whole SB arguement. Talking about 1980 is just as good as trying to brag about 1960 in my opinion. Mike Ditka said it best, "If you live in the past you die in the past. Talking about the past is for cowards."

Ha. You're only going to hear that from fans that have no Super Bowls. And who cares what Mike Ditka said. That guy is an *****.

He has a super bowl and he said it.
Talking about past Super Bowls is cool but my favorite championship is always the next one earned. The Celtics won 8 championships in a row at one point but haven't been near the championship in 20 years. Do you think their fans are content and constantly living in the past when talks about contenders come up every year?
The 76ers have won before too but when was the last time they sniffed a Championship game.
i get both sides of the argument however using ure logic then u would rather support a team who always contends but never or only wins the superbowl once in ten years (aka the eagles, chargers). Its good to support those teams, but its even better when ure team has already got 5 superbowls. I guess the younger fans wouldnt know unless they saw the 4 bowls we won in the 80's. When ure an old fan and u hear a ravens fan trashtalking ure team on ure messageboard, anyone would get mad.

BS87 is right though. The only fans I've consistently say past SBs don't matter are fans of teams with none. Fans of teams with with at least 1 SB win will say past successes don't matter when dealing with a fan of a team with more, but will turn around and use the "more SBs" argument against a fan of a team with fewer or no SB wins.

I've never taken a poll of people who are fans of other teams to know who consistently says what. I know I'm not a fan of a winless team and I consistently say so what about the past. It didn't help when the team was 2-14.
This is anecdotal evidence, so it's safe to say I don't have a poll. However, if you chat with a wide variety of fans over the net, you can observe a few things. Obviously, each person is different, but as a group, you will notice each fan base has its tendencies.
While I share your sentiments about past successes, as a group, my fellow Niner fans are quick to play the "5 SBs" card when arguing with fans of another team. I've noticed Cowboys fans are quick for that, too. Eagles fans will generally be of the opinion that SB win in the past isn't all that important. Rams fans will vary depending on who they're talking to. If a Ram fan is arguing with a Niner fan and that person brings up the 5 trophies, that Ram fan will complain that the Niner fan is living in the past. Yet if they take any flack from Seahawk fans, many of them will bring up their SB trophy and gloat about how the Hawks don't have any.
That's just how I've seen it. Maybe your experiences are different.

I agree for the most part, but to me bragging about 1980 is the same as bragging about 1960. Like I said JMO......

Ravens fan. The thing that always cracks me up are the younger fans who weren't around or all of the fans that wouldn't admit they were Niner fans two years ago. Some I know chose to fans of teams that already had SB victories so they wouldn't have to defend that arguement.

I agree, and IMO, such things really aren't relevant unless you're discussing a team's histroy. I've never felt the need to talk about past SBs because the first 4 came before I was a fan of the team, 1 of which was before I was even born.
