I hope the 49ers are not too strict with their tailgating rules at the new Stadium(Wherever it is built). This past year I went to Arizona for the Week 1 game and they banned people from having Charcoal Grills.
The Superbowl didn't allow tailgating at the game this past year as well.
And to top it off, while trying to plan a trip to the Seattle Seahawks game in Seattle. I came upon this party pooper list of rules set forth by Seahawks/Qwest Field.
http://www.seahawks.com/FAQ.aspx?id=13226
Q: Can we tailgate at the games?
A: Tailgating is permitted on Qwest Field on the east side of the North Lot. You must have a season parking pass to enter the North Lot. Qwest Field security, Seattle Police and King County Sheriffs will patrol the lots to ensure the safety of all event attendees. For your convenience, portable restrooms are located around the perimeter of the North Lot. Please adhere to the following tailgating policies: Park in ONE stall only. Awnings, chairs, BBQ’s, etc. cannot extend into other spaces or traffic lanes. In the North Lot, tailgaters should park on the east side of the lot. No charcoal BBQ’s or fires on the ground. No glass beverage containers. No alcohol or drug use. Fighting and taunting are NOT permitted. Throwing, catch and sports activities are NOT permitted. Please dispose of all trash in bins provided. No kegs or large beverage containers. All tailgating activities must cease 15 minutes after scheduled kickoff These lots close 2 hours after the conclusion of the game. Be prepared to depart at that time.
Q: Can we have a BBQ in the North Lot?
A: Yes, but only if propane is used. No charcoal, wood fires, or deep-fat fryers are permitted.
Q: Why can't we just tailgate anywhere like they do at other stadiums?
A: Tailgating is permitted ONLY on Qwest Field on the east side of the North Lot. Qwest Field security, Seattle Police and King County Sheriffs will patrol the lots to ensure the safety of all event attendees. Additionally, we urge all fans to comply with city and county laws.
When I read the "No throwing, catching, Sports activities" part. I was saying "WTF?!"
What do you all think? I as a fan and tailgater, would hate to have security on our butt about what we can and cant do at a tailgate...

Maybe they have had issues with people damaging other people's vehicles by accident. I know I would be pissed if I came back and my car had a dent in it from people playing catch with a baseball or something.

Worst rules ever. That is total crap. No frying turkey for Thanksgiving game. No playing catch. No Kegs or glass.
It reminds me of the time I went to se a Giants game at Dodgers stadium and they have a no tailgating rule, period. We were drinking in the car and they still were tapping on the car window telling us no you have to get out of the car and leave. I'll be watching at home if that ever happens.

You know those S.F. paid parking lots with chain link fencing?
Replace the chain link with corrugated tin.....really!

I can see the no wood fires and charcoal BBQ. You have a lot of people that just dump their coals on the lot and that is not good for the lot. We have people that do that at the Stick right now and it is just a mess after the games.

I would agree to some of those rules, like only propane BBQ's since they are a lot less of a hassel, and they don't leave a huge mess. But where you can tailgate is lame, also tailgating is one thing the 49ers have been saying is one thing they want to keep, they even said they didn't like the Candlestick site because it would take away from the tailgating, I am sure we will not have the strict rules on our new stadiums like other places.

Yeah.. It is a mess.. I just prefer Charcoal/wood fires instead. I use to dump the coals on the lot. Fromthe3rdRow and Panamared schooled me on how it should be handled. I always dump it in the hot coal bins now. My Weber grill has the pot on the bottom to catch all the coals/ashes. So its easier to dispose of...

I hope you are right...

Oh come on.. when I pull in in my environmentally conscious Prius cranking my Al Gore book-on-tape, pull out my organically grown tofu, and eat it on my soy crackers while drinking my shade-grown coffee, I think I shouldn't have to witness someone irresponsibly eating meat, much less causing global warming while cooking it! :pigfly:
YEAH RIGHT! I want BIGGER SPACES for my 6.0 LITER DIESEL DRINKING DODGE CUMMINS! I want to whip out my CHARCOAL GRILL, and throw a slab of CORN FED BEEF on it, and then watch the other games on my TV powered by a GAS GENERATOR! Then when I gotta use the can, I'll do my part for the environment and wipe my rear on a SPOTTED OWL! :dance3:

I agree! They need to make the parking spaces longer and wider. Tailgating requires a full-sized extended-cab pick-up. The current spacing is totally un-acceptable! There's no room to open the vehicle doors, and pulling in between 2 other vehicles blocks the lane for 2-3 minutes. Bigger spaces would increase fan safety in the parking lot.
In fact, I would be willing to pay more if the current spaces were 2 ft. wider, and the parking lanes were 3 ft. wider.

That sounds cool to me. But knowing them, they'll probably want to pack as many cars into the stadium as possible... I'll pay an extra 20 bucks for a bigger parking space... lol...

Make it $10.00......per space per game. We don't know what the tickets will cost.
Better yet, have a 2-tiered parking pass system. Put in 5 story parking garage that is parking only with the traditional sized parking spaces and no tailgating. Then have the open with the extra dimensions as I described (2 ft. wider between vehicles and 3 ft. wider driving lanes with arrows so vehicles only travel one way.
I hope someone from the front office sees this idea!
