Are you for keeping it in the game or against it? I'm kinda on the fence. I like what it tried to do for the game as far as realism, but as far as actual play, I didn't think it was that great. I'm just curious to what you guys think, since this was a big addition to last year's game.

I like the Vision cone!!!!
It seperates the mediocre players from the great ones.
I don't use the Hot reads as much... But it's a nice feature...
I hated the vision at first. Using the Analog stick to control the vision was difficult unless you were Peyton Manning, Brady or Trent Green. Using players like Alex Smith and the analog stick is too hard.
Instead of the analog I use the R2 button and hit the receiver button twice. It is much easier.
Once you get used to it, it's easy.
I think it makes the game more realistic. Like you could look to one side of the field to draw the safety and then quickly look to the other side and throw to a WR in sigle coverage.
I say keep it!!!!!!!

i'm for it.. one of the few things that help madden feel less like an arcade game. i still prefer ncaa though.. it feels more catered to players who like to build a dynasty as opposed to madden which seems more for online play.

That's a good point and an important part of playing quarterback, which I'm all for. Here's my only issue, and I know I'm probably getting to technical about this...
Madden, at least ideally, is a simulation of real football, meaning you have to experience and react the way a qb would in real life. In the old versions of Madden, on any given pass play, you would try to read the defense and scan or progress through your receivers and once you found him, you fire the pass and your job is done. That's it. Now here's the problem with the vision cone - you (as the player with the controller) may see an open receiver BUT - there is an extra step involved. You have to manually turn your quarterback's head to the direction of that receiver. Adding that additional step makes the passing game a lil unnecessarily complicated. It's a feature for the feature's sake and not exactly an improvement. That split second of timing , I think, makes a huge difference between getting the pass off and taking a sack. So from the concept of realism, it kinda makes it more real, it kinda doesnt. That's just my 2 cents. I know it gets different when you play with Manning or Brady who have huge vision cones.

I'm acually better with it rather then it not exisiting. Lol. I liked the feature and if they got rid of it I would boycott Madden, and only play NCAA (I know it has no pass cone but the games the better of the two without a pass cone.)
They are keeping it though.

There is an exta step involved. But...
If you use the R2 button. You can tap the receiver button twice real quick. There's not much of a delay. In the beginning it was hard, but once you get used to it, it's a piece of cake.

Keep it. I don't have trouble using it, and I think it enhances you as the QB more...now if they could just get the precision passing the way I want it. Allow for over throws, leading the receiver more, etc. Maybe they can do something where you can throw to a spot on the feild with it.

I think EA has all ready stated it's still going to be in the game, but on default settings it will be turned off. I thought it was a decent future, but as far as being the premier future in the game, I thought it was disapointing. I'm not feeling so high on the new blocking future in Madden 07 either.

I like the concept of it, but if they EA implemented simple things correctly, the vision cone wouldn't be necessary. I can make progressions without a vision cone so I don't need it for that. What it did was make QBs running backwards and throwing across their body to the opposite side of the field, virtual INTs like they should be IRL. If EA would get that concept (especially in NCAAF) the need for a vision cone is dead.

not a fan, get rid of it. this eliminated alot of reads IMO. i like my pass progression the way it used to be without the cone.
You can turn it off, i usually did. The only time i dont turn it off is when im playing other people because their defense tends to be a lot better than the playstations.

I love going against cover two and lookng away from the main reciever. It works most of the time, not always.

I Like it. I dont think your any good if you cant play with it. I wont even take the game serious. Pression Passing works better with the cone on.

Just like someone said before I have read that the cone is there in O7 but it is off by default. I think that means that it will not be required when you play online ranked games. Does anyone else have any info on this?

i like it... it allows you to look at one side of the field and draw the secondary that way and quickly switch to the other side of the field and drill the open man

And that makes it more realistic not less.

Get rid of that crap! I hate it you get through 2 WR's at most before you have people up your arse!
Its just too many buttons! I would like it a lot better if they implimented it better. My idea for it is this.
Snap the ball the cone starts on the primary wr. To switch WR's simply press the corresponding button and to throw it press the button again. That would be SO much better

Lame for online.. I can turn it on for franchises though I suppose.
People that don't like it only dislike it because they have no hand eye coordination and don't know how to use the right routes with it

not true, i think most people don't like it because your lucky to get through your 1nd read before a defender is on your arse and ready to sack you.
Maybe. I don't have that problem. Usually I set it on my first read, if that's not open and I'm being rushed, I'll roll out or step into the pocket and adjust to another wideout. I have plays where one routes always open so it's either my first or second read no problem. Also adjusting the way your offensive line blocks if a person loads blitzers on one side.

i like the cone, it just needs to be fixed a bit. the analog stick on the xbox is too sensitive. there should be a sensitivity control like there is in halo. also, sometimes when my receiver is dead center in the cone, the pass still goes way off. no idea why, but it needs to be fixed a bit

sure that kinda works but your probably the Eagles all the time and McNabb has a huge window so even if you don't adjust the window you can complete passes to WR's that aren't the primary receiver. i hate how if you don't have a QB with a huge window that the first or maybe 2nd passing option are the only option. it shouldn't be impossible to make a completion to your 2nd 3rd or even 4th passing option in the shotgun formation.
Acually, I never use the Eagles . Games are too easy with them. I use pretty bad quarterbacks most of the time.. the last franchise I did.. Quinn Gray (69 overall QB on the Jags) was my QB .
I'm good at using the pass cone with any awareness at QB, whether they are Peyton Manning.. or Cleo Lemon.. ChrisG has played me online and he can tell ya that.

That idea sounds better. You don't have to hold the R2 button to pick your receiver.

I like it quite a bit. It took a while for me to get used to it but it does not bother me at all. The only thing that bugs me is when your running for your life and can't throw the ball away.
It also bugs me when you're playing DB or when you switch to your WR to take control of them before a pass gets there and when you hit the triangle button and the just randomly jump up in the air even if the ball is thrown at their feet. When you push the triangle button the player should reach for the ball where ever it is.

Oh yeah, they need to fix that punt return blocking thing... that sucks.
