Anytime you buy anything with a signature........make sure it comes with a certificate of authenticity............

There are like 4 or 5 certified Davis Autos on ebay. Topps, Donruss and Sage already have mutliple versions. Just wait until Early 2007 and the non-numbered, non-jersey autographs will be averaging around $25 or so even if Davis is tearing it up.

A COA isn't enough for me. Anyone with a computer can do that. If I'm buying a non-card auto, it has to be authenticated by someone like Upper Deck ( UDA). There is so much fake game-used and fake siggy stuff on the market, it isn't funny.

You guys must not be around football cards much... 76.00 is a lot but I just seen a reggie bush auto at 1500.00. By the way those companies (Topps, Donruss, Fleer, etc.) all put certificates of authenticity on the back of the cards. Most players don't sign the card anymore; they sign stickers. They sit down and sign sheet after sheet with like 100 stickers on each.
$76 isn't too much but the people paying thousands for Reggie Bush cards right now are going to be disappointed once SP Authentic/ SPX/Exquisite rooks hit the market. They are likely to be his "best " RCs and current cards of him in his collge uni will cool off considerably. It happens ever year with the top draft picks.

That's a very good price. I wasn't referring to cards like this one. All rookies have some interest but every year a few collector "darlings" hit the hobby and their cards soar immediately. They are almost always RBs, QBs & WRs that command big $$ ( like Reggie Bush ) who's early cards take a nose dive later after the "heavyweight" brands hit the market.
I think VD's cards will hold/increase in value over time. Because he's a TE, his cards won't command big prices like Bush,Young etc but he could score alot and that will give his cards staying power.

if anything, errors like that actaully add to the value of a card. but for the record no card is worth anyhting nowadays unless it is graded by Beckett
Do you mean listed by Beckett instead of graded? There are plenty of raw cards out there that get big $$ even ungraded.

Hopefully it will be worth more than my 2004 signed Cody Pickett Rookie Ticket (numbered and embossed) :D
Actually, this reminds me... I've got hundreds (maybe thousands) of cards of 49ers players dating back to the mid-80s up through the late 90s. I've never inventoried them, and maybe the time has come. I know I have to have some serious treasures in there. It's a whole boot size box of cards, and I even have some sheets of cards that were never cut in addition to those. All of them 49ers players either while 49ers, or prior to/after. Maybe I should start having some of the alum sign those instead of the bio cards they hand out.

yes but i collected cards recently and nobody will buy or sell a card for nearly as much as if it was graded. grading a card also ensures that the condition of the card wont change.
That's true. There is a segment of collector's that only collect graded cards. It's been my experience that grading skyrockets a card mainly when it's a condition sensitive set or a rookie. Grading inserts only raises the price marginally but it's still worth doing in some cases. I was only arguing the point that "no card is worth anything if ungraded".
