They should jump on it. They probably aren't gonna take CJ 1st overall anyway, and if they do, its just stupid, and trading back down to #4 overall all but guarantees them a shot at one of the top 2 QB's in the draft, Quinn or Russell.
Even if WR is a problem, theres boatloads of them in the 2nd and 3rd rounds that can still make a big impact.

Might want to read it again:
There was speculation that the Bucs had already offered Oakland all four of their picks in the first three rounds (Nos. 4, 35, 64 and 68 overall)
No official offer has been made, speculation is just a bunch of reporters talking about the subject of "what if".

They should do a 3 way trade with Detroit where Tampa gets the #1 pick, Oakland gets the #2 pick so they can draft Russel, and Detroit gets the #4 pick so they can draft Joe Thomas or the top defensive player if Cleveland suprisingly drafts Thomas. Works out perfectly for everyone.

Another Ricky Williams type of deal eh? I dont think the bucs even have to trade away all their picks since CJ might fall to them at #4.

Not really. Actually, not even close. The Saints traded every pick in their draft save a 2nd rounder and then their 1st and 3rd the next season. 2 of the picks the Bucs supposedly offered are more or less very late 2nd rounders or early 3rd rounders.

What is it about the Bucs selling off all their draft picks for a shiny nickel seems familiar.

I would not offer that to move up with the current situation at the top of the board.

WHy is them taking CJ stupid??? The guy is an incredible athlete. And trading down to 4 DOES NOT guantee them a qb. Its very likley that the browns and lions may want both those qbs.

I would'nt pay too much attention to these type of rumors leading up to the draft...A lot of these teams start throwing up smokescreens to entice other teams to trade...

Here's what I read:
Per the report, there is also speculation that the Bucs have offered four first-day picks (No. 4, No. 35, No. 64, and No. 68) for the No. 1 pick. Under the trade chart, however, that quartet of picks falls 130 points short of the value of the first overall selection. As a result, the Bucs would have to give up all of their remaining picks -- with the exception of two compensatory picks at the bottom of round seven -- to make up the entire difference.
Bottom line: If Al Davis is going to give up the No. 1 pick to two of his former employees (Gruden and G.M. Bruce Allen), it will have to be on the Raiders' terms. We wouldn't be surprised to see Davis ask for all of Tampa's picks in 2007 and a first-rounder in 2008.

If the talks are true, and if I was the Raiders organization, I would take the 4 picks in the first 3 rounds. You have 1/3 chance you will draft a good QB in Russell or Quinn.

I'd love Tampa to salvage their future on a WR while their OL remains horrible and with an old QB and a bad QB. Be like the Falcons w/o a fast guy

I know their not exactly the same, but their concept is identical. Which is one team (in this case TB) is giving up a boatload of picks for one player. From that link it said that TB was giving all of their 1st day picks to move up to #1.

i think oakland takes calvin johnson (i will officially hate johnson if this happens
because i cannot stand the GAYders) and then in the second round they will
pick up trent edwards from stanford!!! IMO
If Oakland takes CJ they will be devoting a ton of cap space to Wr's. Moss alone is 10M+ and Porter has got a sizeable paycheck. While they may succeed in trading Moss, the market is cool, Davis is stubborn and will not wish to part with him for significantly less than he paid. Johnson will demand big money. Burgess is threatening a hold out unless he gets more. Oakland does not have lots of cap room (a bit over 8M last time I looked). They have but one QB on the roster with any recent NFL experience, and he (Walter) is not in my opinion viable behind that OL. To me, the rumors of Oakland taking CJ are a smokescreen to get trade offers unless they can dump Moss.

John Murphy and Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports report that some NFL types believe that the Buccaneers are planning to make a play for the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.
The selection is currently held by the Raiders, who fleeced the Bucs five years ago out of two first-round picks, two second-round picks, and $8 million for the "rights" to coach Jon Gruden.
Per the report, there is also speculation that the Bucs have offered four first-day picks (No. 4, No. 35, No. 64, and No. 68) for the No. 1 pick. Under the trade chart, however, that quartet of picks falls 130 points short of the value of the first overall selection.
