If you look at the stats . We have pass rushers in Broderick Green , Banta-Cain, Bryant Young, Brandon Moore. But the D-Line was only responsible for 12 of our 30 sacks. If would be safe to say we need a pass-rushing and run stuffing D-End. But LaRon Landry if he drops to 11 do we take him. Our safties do not cover very well. I have seen M.Lewis play since he was a rookie. He was good up until last year. When he keep falling for the double move. But he was never a impact player from the start. He doe'nt make many Big Plays. Give me the man with all around abilities. When they mention your name and Ronnie Lotts .Thats I want that. Give me a emotional leader on defense. A firiery in your face give type of guy. Thinking about that. Here is a another good question. Who is our leader on defense? Please dont say Derek Smith .Because you have to make plays to be a leader. I say we need to take one of these guys. :sflogo: 1a Jamaal Andersen 1b Adam Carriker, 1C Laron Landry 1D Patrick Willis :clapping: :clapping:

Why are the 49ers still trying to amass players in the draft? We have very specific holes to fill and we should try to build a team (like Walsh did in the 80's) rather than fill up a roster with another dozen middle round picks.

In order to get to the next level (the playoffs) this year, we could do the following. Get Darryl Jackson (Seattle wants a low 2nd or high 3rd for him) trade and pay for Kris Jenkins. With this, two glaring needs (DT & WR) are filled immediately. Then, through the draft, get a DL in the the first round, WR in the second and look for Offensive linemen, Line backers and maybe a DB in the rest of the draft. Let's give rookies time to develop underneath veterans while improving our team in the current year.

Jenkins isnt a Nolan guy and Jackson is on his way out ( & injury prone)
keep our draft picks and get youth and much needed depth

We need help at D-Line, WR, ILB, O-Line, and FS in that order

Looking only at this year imo FS is the weakest position we have. Looking at the teams future though DE is.

So we go out and trade for two of the most injured players in the league?

No thanks I'll take my lumps with cheap rookies.

IMO, I would say that ILB is the position that we need to address first (Smith and Ulbrich just won't cut it). Patrick Willis would greatly improve the middle of our defense.

2nd I would go DL

3rd WR

4th FS

Check your stats Ace. Jenkins has been hurt just once in his career. I will admit that Jackson is absolutely fragile, but I just think that we need starters, not journeymen and special team players.

I think our biggest area of need is our pass rush. our current pass rushing positions look very bleek with Banta Cain more than likely being our biggest threat. I dont think Lawson will be a Merriman type guy ever so i think a true Rush outside backer is our biggest need going into the draft. Seeing how there are none worth our #11 pick we can afford to wait until round 2 as i think there are some high quality guys in the bottom of day 1. Lamar Woodley being number 1 on my wish list. I'd personally love to see a Michigan party with Branch in the first and Woodley in the second.
