The picks
11. Adam Carriker, DE
42. Sidney Rice, WR
76. Brandon Siler, ILB
97. Brandon Mebane, NT
Notes
- Landry, Okoye, Anderson, and Brown are all gone by the 11th pick. We pass on patrick willis and alan branch. They go 12-13.
-If we went WR at 42, i might prefer hill over rice. Hill went 73 to Houston in this mock.
- Eric Weddle went 68 to Tampa Bay. Personally id like to trade up for him.
Thoughts on the mock?

I really like this draft for us. The Carriker pick is the best if we want to go 3-4 D-Line in the first. Rice or Hill at that spot is a toss-up and we may be getting a steal in Rice in the second. Also really like the pickup of Brandon Siler and Mebane. One of the few mocks that I like from Scott Wright.

Those are certainly some common names you see mentioned. I wonder how much of a "group think" we have going on here. A few people mention names that would be good for the 49ers to target, and then the next people use some of the same names with a few changes, and after a while everyone comes up with a similar draft scenerio. Last year it seemed that Nolan and Co. were right on target with what this MB was hoping for in the first round. After that, it was anyone's guess. I bet the same thing happens this year - the first two picks are somewhat predictable and after that the MB posters get surprised. With all that said -- enough already. Bring on the draft. Arn't we there yet?

I like this draft as well, Carriker or Brown would be my pick, I could also see Willis but its doubtful.
Personally, I like Rice more than Hill, plus it looks nice on the Jersey!
I feel he is more consistent and has a better chance of becoming a #1.
I didn't think Siler would be picked this high, but I really don't know too much about him, what I do know though sounds good.
Mebane would be a nice pick up and could be a solid contributor right away.
However, if we go with Carriker in the first, I think we look to pick up O-Line with one of our first 4 picks.

GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT draft, the first 2 guys have star potential, and Siler is really a perfect fit at 3-4 ILB. Does it really get any better than this?

i would be happy with this. then have us add some o-line depth while adding a Rb in the 4th rounds would be great as well.
We could definitely grab guys like Ramirez, Duckworth, or Alleman....and I hear we are looking at Kenneth Darby for our back up, he has a similar style to Gore and was a workhorse in college...so I would be happy with this as well.

I can't see us taking Carriker over branch. The rest of the mock is solid.

A couple of things on this mock...
Gonzalez goes before Dwayne Bowe?!
Beck goes before and Kevin Kolb goes before Drew Stanton?!
Jason Hill in the mid-3rd is a bit late for him
Mebane dropping to the late 3rd round is waaaay too late. Early 3rd probably at the latest...
I can't see Carolina not adressing TE or S until the 3rd.
just to name a few

If this draft were actually possible, it would be great. I still prefer Hill over Rice, since we need a guy who can contribute right away, Rice isn't ready for much action yet.
