Great article for the impatient negative nelly's that think success should come overnight. Teams that win consistantly over a long period of time were built that way, and they all had growing pains.

Which is why the 49ers may do better than expected.

Although Nolan is only a 2nd year coach, we have 6 games against rookies head coaches, and 2 games against coaches in their 1st year with a new team.

Another point is if you look at the coaches who did do well in their 1st year, most of them took over a team that was doing well already, like Gruden to Tampa Bay, or Mooch taking over the 49ers after Seifert.

Those talking over teams in rebuilding processes generally tanked their 1st season.
