hes starting to make me like him i knew he was a good guy but he does seem very humble and hes a very good speaker and watching a little more of him ive seen a little more that he could possibly shed blocks. Ive never thought he wouldnt be a great player i just have different value on the ILB position so thats why ive never wanted him at 11. Would i be disappointed if we drafted him somewhat because i feel you can get a very good ILB in the later rounds and DL is a more pressing need IMO.
But i still stand that i hope we go DL

kffl is reporting the bronco deal with the texans is a done deal. So it looks like we may not have a shot at drafting Willis unless we trade up.

Somehow, I doubt Denver would make it so blatantly obvious that they are intent on drafting Willis. It would give SF and Buffalo too much opportunity to trade ahead of them, with very little ammo left to trade up further. I think they're targetting Okoye, Anderson or Carriker.

Do you guys really think the ILB pos is deep in this draft? I thought it was one of the weaker in terms of quality players.

I still want the 49ers to draft Carriker, but Willis is in a close second

Thats what I think too. I think they want Carriker. I dont think we would trade up ahead of them because there are too many guys that are great value at #11 that Nolan would be happy with. And if they are all gone then someone **** good fell out of the top 10 that is a steal at #11.

Well, on the bright side, Didn't Denver want to trade up past us last year to take Vernon Davis last year?
We saw how that worked

we need this man! Just watching those videos gets me excited of the possibility of getting him. If denver trades up to 10 i imagine our chances of grabbing him our basically out the window, but if hes there at 11 we better take him, i dont care that carriker would fit our system better, willis is so explosive, just that hit on that poor LSU running back shows me what he can bring to our team.

This class is actually pretty deep at ILB:
Patrick Willis
David Harris
Stewart Bradley
Paul Posluszny
H. B. Blades
Brandon Siler
Anthony Waters
Desmond Bishop
Zak Deossie

Denver just signed 2 LB's, they may not be much to speak of, but I would suspect the reason they traded to 10 is to get a rush end, which is their main need on most draft boards. I am sure they covet Willis just as much as we do, but IMO, they will go with either Carriker or Anderson with the pick at 10.

I thought the guy the broncos were trying to get was Okoye? Could they be using Willis as a smoke screen?

Right there with ya, mate. I've been pulling for Carriker since last summer, but I would not be disappointed (much) if they took Willis, and it seems more and more like that's how they're leaning every day.. He sounds like a great kid on and off the field, a real "Nolan guy".

Nolan and Co. have had 2 very successfull drafts and I'll be happy with whatever pick they decide to go with whether it's Willis, Branch, or Carriker. I just think that Willis will be the pick because he may be the BPA available and the 49ers are real high on Ray McDonald who they may try and target later.
Willis wore #49 for a reason and I don't think it was a coincidence, He's destined to be a San Francisco 49er.....:football:

This deal sounds bogus. Why would the texans move down 11 spots for just a late 2nd rounder? Not happening

If the 49ers wanted to they could trade up to 9 for him, but one problem is if the Lions and Falcons make a deal and the Lions are at 8 then the Niners would have to move up to 7 cause Adams would most likely be gone by 8 and they'd get Patrick Willis.

Certainly a strong possibility with their mediocre d-line but for the past couple of years they've brought in vets to sure up the d-line and have tried to beef up the LB core. I'd expect them to continue that trend with the selection of Patrick Willis.
This is why Shanahan and the Broncos are so good; when they see someone they want, they do what it takes to get him. Few teams wheel and deal more than the Broncos.

I hear you Misfitz. This is why I have liked Willis all the way along. He is a standup guy and would be a great leader for this defense. I glad you have at least taken some of the dislike for him on in the 3-4. With this Broncos deal in the works we may be taking defensive line and I would have no problem with that at all. I want to ask you though, if the Broncos move up, do you feel that we move up to the 6th spot? I feel this is a very strong possibility maybe but not sure what you feel on it.

Yep they basically have us to thank for walker and Cutler too
The Broncos received the 37th and 68th overall picks in the deal.
The broncos deal 37 for Javon Walker
The broncos then use 68 to move up and draft Jay Cutler

This draft is weak at DT. After Okoye and Branch, the drop off is significant. IMO The Bronco's want to pick ahead of us to get one of those two guys.
I think we are going to trade up to the Dolphins for their #9. I doubt Quinn drops down far enough for them to get him, but who knows. We might have to trade with Washington, after they trade with Miami.
Assuming this trade is real.

I read an article on him in ESPN mag a while back... dude has been a grown *** man since before most of us were in junior high. Your also gonna be getting a guy who appreciates the value of what's in front of him, not some punk whose got a bad attitude because he's been told how "great" he is his whole life because of sports.

This is the first I've even heard of Denver being really interested in Willis, even though it makes sense with them losing Al Wilson.
However... they have intense problems on their DL, and have already expressed a ton of interest in Carriker as well. It could be that they're moving up to get HIM, not Willis.
If they do end up drafting Willis, and Landry is gone.... I think the smartest thing to do would be to trade baaaack into 1st round and try to wheel and deal ourselves into having two 1st round picks. I don't think that many teams will want Carriker that bad after us. Possibly Jacksonville, but even they have bigger needs.

well thats mainly always been my arguement i didnt think him at 11 is a value pick and all the people started saying that singletary would make him great and i didnt buy it
