Broncos to Swap with Texans for No. 10 Overall

Neil Stratton, of Inside the League, has learned that the Houston Texans, as previously rumored, will trade its first-round draft pick, No. 10 overall, in this year's NFL Draft to the Denver Broncos Friday, April 27, in exchange for the Broncos' first-round pick, No. 21 overall, and second-round pick, No. 56 overall. The Broncos would select Mississippi LB Patrick Willis."

Those who are familiar with our needs, does this really affect us much?

I would think that the trade would be for more than just their second. Houston is giving up too much in that trade. They (Houston) basically are moving down 11 spots and getting a second rounder in return. I don't get it!!!

yeah, something is not right here. and DOnt eveyone think that this is just for Willis, If Landry, Okoye, or Anderson fall I would expect them to go there first.

the broncos jumping up 10 spots and only giving up a 2nd round pick? wow, that idea sounds like it came straight from a messageboard. If this is true then this is just ridiculous. And what dumber is the texans gave up a 2nd round pick in their trade for Schuab!

So the texans pretty much dumped david carr AND lost 10 spots in their draft this year for an unproven QB.....OMG....

I don't think that's all that bad of a trade for Houston, honestly. For comparison sake, we moved up about 20 spots and gave up a 2nd and 3rd rounder, last year.

I'm very glad this happened, though. It makes it much more unlikely we get Willis. Willis will be a good, maybe very good player, but he is a bad value for our defense.

Hopefully Landry goes 6 or 7, with Okoye going to Atlanta, Brown to Miami, and Willis to Denver, allowing us to grab Jamaal Anderson, or Adam Carriker with the 11th- I have to say, Anderson is very intruiging considering the flexibility he would give us on defense. He would allow us to go 4-3 often, or line Anderson up on the left with Lawson blitzing on the right, etc. He could help cause nightmares for opposing offenses, if we scheme correctly. Could use him in all types of zone defenses, even have him drop back as a linebacker, and cause the defense confusion over whether he was to blitz or play zone coverage. I'd like to see what Manusky could do with him. As someone mentioned earlier, he could play an AD type role for us.

Houston is giving up thier 1st (10th overall) for Denvers 1st ( 21st overall) and Denver's 2nd rounder (56th overall). So they are doing a 2 for 1 swap. How do they compute value when dealing with picks? I know they have some number system that appoints a value, anyone know where to get a copy?

There is a big difference when you are talking about moving from mid/early second to late first as opposed to moving into the top ten in the draft for virtually nothing. Denver's second round pick is at the back end of the round and the talent drop off from #10 to #21 is WAY to much to even compare. In my opinion, Houston has way too many needs to be moving that far down in the draft for 1 extra pick. Shoot, they would be better off talking to New England to at least get 2 first round selections (still not worth #10).

Texans | No deals completed yet

Updating ongoing reports, ESPN's John Clayton reports a trade between the Houston Texans and any other team will not happen Friday, April 27. If anything is going to happen, it would take place during the NFL Draft Saturday, April 28.

REPORT OF TEXANS-BRONCOS TRADE NOT TRUE

There's a report on a web site that posts football new snippets in small blurbs with even smaller fonts that used to get a lot more traffic than us (but no longer does) stating that the Broncos have consummated a trade with the Texans for a flip-flop of the No. 10 and No. 21 pick in the draft.

But Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the report is false, and that the Broncos and Texans have not had a single serious discussion about swapping picks.

Schefter also says that the Broncos would never do a deal like this before the draft. That makes sense to us, since the purpose of moving up would be to get a specific guy who might or might not be there when the higher pick is used.

Texans GM Rick Smith is on the radio live denying this deal...so take it fwiw.

He said this pick will depend on who is there at 10 and the team may not move out depending on who is there.

They made a hard push for Kerney so DE is a big need for them.

I wonder who they favor though of those 2? Maybe Carriker as his power will complement Dumervile's speed rush nicely.

Keep in mind that Schefter was a Denver beat writer for a long time before joining NFLN. I'd believe his take on just about anything Broncos-related before just about anyone else.

Plus, he's a midget, and midgets never do anything evil.

This rumor is being shot down by other sites, and if the target really is JUST WILLIS, there is ZERO chance they'd make the deal on the day before the draft, or at any point before Houston is on the clock. Doing it now means a team like SF or Buffalo could leapfrog you again to 9 to take the player you want.

The only way they would do it this soon is if they have about 3 different guys they are very high on, none of whom will be there at 21.

Do you really believe they would take Carriker? They run a 4-3 Willis would start in that defense. He's a SUPERSTAR, POTENTIAL PROBOWLER! So many on this board don't think Carriker is worth the 11th pick, why would Denver spend the 10th on him?

Makes me Wonder if they are targetting Levi Brown and expect him to be there at the 21st pick.

If they take an OLman at 21, I think it would be Kalil. Center is the most important position for the ZBS, and Kalil is a beast. I think they'll go DB or WR in round 1 though.
