I rememeber going into the 2005 season we were 250-1 odds to win the superbowl at one point. Being 15-1 two years later is quite an improvement.(Atleast in Vegas's eyes)

Does anyone know what the odds are that we win the west this year?

1 / 1.

I'd put $20 on those odds. I'm guessing it's going to be closer to 5-2.

How do odds work anyways?? Say the 49ers are 15 to 1, does that mean if I put $10 on them and they win the superbowl does that mean I win $150??

Young2Rice
05-05-2007, 11:58 PM
yes

In that case I should put at least $20 on the Niners.

I was talking to the bookies while I was watching the Warriors demolish the Mavs.
Nolan is the talk of Vegas.
The Niners are expected to be 5-1 odds next year.
Niners are the sleepers of the NFC as in possible NFC championship game.

Was this a legit sportsbook or one of those places underground where you can buy fake purses and a fake rolex from???

I put 100 on them.

Cesar's Palace---and how did you know I was into fake pur...errrr....Rolexs?

I'm just still pissed that I can't bet on football anymore. The state lottery got rid of their sports action betting......:(

yup both my sites got shut down too (thanks Bush) Sportingbet.com and pinnaclesports.com were great for years. Sportingbet has the niners as 33 to 1 to win the superbowl right now, I usually just put cash down for season over/under or NFC West (which was 40 to 1 last year)

Sportsbook.com has the 49ers at 40 to 1 for the Super Bowl, 18 to 1 has NFC Champions, and 3 to 1 as NFC West Champs

The Niners stock is rising according to the oddsmakers, who have us at 20-1 to win the Superbowl. We're right behind Seattle -- 18-1. The Cards are 35-1 and the Rams are 50-1. Seems like we're getting some respect from people whose living depends on making an unbaised evaluation.

so i was looking at the futures for football and we are getting alot of respect from Stations Casino they had as 15-1 odds to win the SB last year we were i think 80-1

Other teams in our division odds
Seattle 6-1
Rams 25-1
Cards 30-1

we were i think 13th overall odds wise

I was really shocked at the odds there i thought i would be able to get them at around 50-1 odds like i had seen a month ago

on a side note i saw at another sports book that had the niners 40-1

The odds must have changed:

http://www.vegas.com/gaming/futures/superbowl.html

I don't know where the source from the op was, but this is vegas.com ... I assume that's legit.

The niners are 45-1, which means people who are saying they'll take 15-1 odds should probably put some extra money into it.

As for the pats being 5-1, personally I think that's like free money. But I guess anything can happen.

getting 40/1 for the niners across here in the UK..........I think i will be parting with some cash on that me thinks!! They are very generous odds compared to 15's.......:whistling:

14/1 across here to win the NFC conference!!

I think you have that backwards. In order to be a homer, you'd have to bet on the niners even if the odds were like 1:1 or 1:2, meaning you'd have to put down $2 for every $1 you'd win.

For a million to 1 odds, you'd get a million for every dollar you bet. I'd take those odds for almost anything. Almost.

Probably because of injury concerns around McNabb, and WR situation.

I understand McNabb, but what exactly is the WR situation when they finished 2nd in overall offense?

Well i do not bet on anything.but my point was "so there is still a chance" we win the whole thing.

Second in overall offense doesn't speak solely about the WRs - Westbrook and LJ Smith play huge roles in the offense. I just don't feel that with Stallworth's departure and Curtis as the replacement is an improvement over last year.

I guess that was my point. One guy suddenly makes the WR corp questionable? Reggie Brown had bigger numbers when Stalworth was out as did all of the other WR. Stallworth isn't as big a component to the Eagles O as you might think. Now if Westbrook goes down............

Eaglesfandan
05-28-2007, 01:45 AM
And to add to that I'm really wondering what they are going to do with LJ after this season. He says that his agent has made an offer that is less than what he could get on the FA market. I highly doubt that. If he has a good season he gets a contract extension during the year, but you never know.......

Yeah, perhaps I overvalued him, I just remember Stallworth always being a huge long ball threat. I think Curtis is fast but I don't think we've seen what his full potential is yet.

In any case, McNabb/Garcia or McNabb/Feeley is a decent option for the Eagles, but it's been shown that they get to the Super Bowl with a healthy McNabb (though T.O. may have had something to do with it), and it's getting closer to the end of his career and he's showing a decline in health. That also goes for the defense, which has been awesome the last few years but the veterans are also gaining in years.

McNabb is a question no doubt, but I am way more worried about the defense than I am the offense. If McNabb is healthy I see no problems (BIF IF) but the defense gave up 200+ on the ground against NO in the playoffs last year. Hopefully they do something to fix that or the Eagles can continue to brag about their empty trophy case..............
