View Full Version : Bush won't rule out holding out
THE NEWS
Shortly after the Saints drafted Reggie Bush in April, he told the media that he had instructed his agent to do whatever it takes to finalize a contract so he could report to training camp on time. However, Bush seems to be singing a different tune these days. "Obviously, I would like to be to training camp on time," Bush told the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "But at the same time, that's the difference between college and the NFL. It's a business now, and that's the way you have to look at it." Bush and Saints general manager also noted that contract talks are still in the early stages.
Our View
Reggie sure changed his tune quickly. Of course, his agent's heart probably stopped when his client told the media he would do whatever it takes to report on time. Fantasy owners shouldn't spend too much time worry about Bush's contract status, as no first-round picks have agreed to terms yet.

I hate the whole buisness aspect of the NFL, remember the good ol' days when the players played because they loved the game? Money ruins everything

If he holds out for several months, does that all the people on this board who wanted us to throw the Houston game to get him will finally realize throwing a game is never a good idea.

I will hold judgment until all is said and done. Bush is a good guy.

I don't blame these young kids. The avg. shelf life of a RB in the NFL is three years. You risk your body and need to make as much money as you can before your careers is over. The NFL owners and NFL corporate is making sooooooo much money off of these players its ridiculous. There is plenty of money to go around for the players. I just feel bad for the Vets that didn't have the opportunity to make this sort of money. Despite what I said above, I do believe that as a rookie you gotta earn your money, but talents like Bush are an exception.

In fact it wasn't. Seriously, that'd have been a horrible PR move, having the #1 pick two years in a row, and also it'd have been bad for our salary cap.
I don't care about Bush. The guy is a freak, but we got our own offensive playmaker in Vernon, who, for now, seems like a harder worker.

2) Houston's back-up QB throws an INT TO THE HOUSE late in the game after they were up a TD. At a point where they didn't even need to pass the ball.
3) Their kicker missed like a 30-sumthin-yd field goal at the end of the game that would have won it for them. It wasn't even a close miss, it was **** near in the other direction. How do you even make it to the NFL as a kicker if you can't hit a FG like that ? And he did that exact same thing against the Titans a week or two prior to that.
Considering Tony Banks was release by the Texans after the season, I very much doubt he was instructed to throw a INT.
And as you pointed out, their kicker has previously missed several kicks; he was only 26 for 34 in 2005. So I it wouldn't be out of the question for him to just plain miss an easy FG in the last game.
And considering the head coach was fired after the game, I have no reason to believe he felt it was his job to throw the game.

i never wanted us to throw any games. if it happens it happens. but if we somehow came up with the opportunity to draft him then there wouldnt be a moment of hesitation.
