I am please to announce that SupportOurNiners.com (http://www.SupportOurNiners.com) has been re-launched with new information about the 49ers' plans for a new stadium in the Bay Area by 2012. We've added new features including an FAQ section with answers to questions submitted by fans, an e-newsletter, and a list of ways you can get involved and help the team.

Over the past few months, we have received many photos of fans holding their homemade signs and banners showing their support for our efforts to build a new stadium. Many fans have also sent photos holding signs that show their opposition to "SB 49," legislation that was introduced by a state senator in California earlier this year that would create a 75-mile "no 49ers stadium zone" throughout the Bay Area. If passed, this legislation may force the team to leave the Bay Area, our home for our entire 60-year history!

PLEASE CONTINUE TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT BY SENDING US YOUR PHOTOS!! We'll select new photos regularly to feature on SupportOurNiners.com. Your signs and banners can say anything you'd like, from "Support Our Niners" to "Help Us Keep Our Niners in the Bay Area", etc.

Please email your photos to me at Steve@SupportOurNiners.com. Thanks as always for your support!

Best,

Steve

Steve,

You can use the shirt I designed as my SUPPORT proof as a fan. The ladies upstairs have my picture with S Sam, if you need a photo, too. I sent it earlier when it was requested by the 49ers (?Teri) for Jed York's letter about fans supporting the stadium.

My 2 speeches before the City Council should count, too, as signs of my support!

Niner Jan  :go9ers: :clapping:

What's happening this Tuesday about the stadium on the Santa Clara CC agenda?

**********

SORRY...I just looked at your updated SupportOurNiners website, Steve, and saw my photo is already there (with 3 of the 5 Lombardi's)!

I could not imagine if the Niners left the bay, and what's with this guy trying to introduce that new legislation. "The hater's will always keep hatin'" I just don't understand....

Marcus,

Candlestick stadium is the WORST, most decrepid stadium in the NFL? Who do you insist on San Francisco? Are you one of the people who can't take any kind of change? Do you believe in a better place for our players to play? The 49ers do! And I support what is better for them. Why not you?

The City of SF has not supported the maintenance of the stadium in the past decade, allowing things to get worse and worse. Only now, when there is a threat to their losing their source of revenue is the City of SF waking up and promising all kinds of things in the 11th hour...

I hope that the new stadium comes to pass and that when the current contract ends, our players will have something better to look forward to. Until then, no new stadium until at least 2012, I believe.

SB 49 is a joke, 49ers belong in the BAY AREA, The City of San Francisco can go to Hadies, Keep them in the Bay and they will always be our boys.

On behalf of everyone at the San Francisco 49ers, thank you to the many people who responded to this thread by sending us photos showing your support for a new stadium. Your enthusiasm and creativity is overwhelming!

So far, people have sent us photos of themselves in their best Niners gear holding signs with messages like "Build the Stadium" and "Support Our Niners". We've also received photos of young fans writing messages of support in chalk on their driveways, and even family portraits taken at our headquarters in Santa Clara.

Some of the photos have already been posted on SupportOurNiners.com (http://www.SupportOurNiners.com), and many more will be added soon.

I'm also pleased to announce a new section of the site called "Supporter Spotlight (http://www.supportourniners.com/spotlight/index.php)", where we will regularly highlight new fans. Niner Jan and Eric Thurow have already been featured on the site, and today we added Neeraj, a 7 year old who showed his support by building a model stadium out of Legos. Click here (http://www.supportourniners.com/spotlight/neeraj.php)to check it out!

PLEASE CONTINUE TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT BY SENDING US YOUR PHOTOS AND LETTERS!! We'll select new fans regularly to feature on SupportOurNiners.com (http://www.supportourniners.com).

Please email your photos to me at Steve@SupportOurNiners.com. Thanks as always for your support!

The 49ers do not need a new stadium. I don't know why there is no respect for the history that we have in Candlestick. We don't need a megamall stadium. We need to take a clue from the Packers in Green Bay. New stadiums have no history and no character. They are the modern track home of sports facilities. Why can't we renovate Candlestick, play at Stanford stadium for a year or two. I think that I speak for most long time 49er fans when I say we're resentful when we hear Candlestick being called different corporate names, our history, our tradition can be bought? I have no fear of the 49ers leaving if they can't get a new stadium. The NFL will make them leave the name in S.F. and we'll get new owners for the new 49ers, just like the Browns. A billion dollars for a new stadium? This new stadium lame duck idea is emblematic of everything that is and has been wrong with the 49ers under the current regime; Perception of greed and no loyalty to the fans. I think this latest attempt to have fans send pictures with homemade signs supporting a new billion dollar playground is pathetic. Trying to pretend there is a grass-roots movement for a new stadium is ridiculous. There's not.

And you are one of the most ignorant people people I've seen posting on this board on this topic.

The 49ers do not need a new stadium.

Actually, we do. The league says we do. We've got the most antiquated, oldest, most run down joke of a stadium in the league and it's a joke. The league has been on the team's rear end for 15 years to build a new location.

I don't know why there is no respect for the history that we have in Candlestick.

We had history in Kezar too. Why aren't you complaining about that?

We don't need a megamall stadium.

Clearly you don't even know a thing about the current project. We're building a football stadium. There is nothing 'mega' or 'mall' about it.

We need to take a clue from the Packers in Green Bay. New stadiums have no history and no character. They are the modern track home of sports facilities.

And guess what, back when we moved into Candlestick, it had no history of football and no character. How about that! Sorry but people don't pay $100 for an NFL ticket to enjoy history. They do it because they expect things like HDTV megatrons and heated seats. If they want history they can go to a geology museum.

Why can't we renovate Candlestick, play at Stanford stadium for a year or two.

One word, 4 syllables: Ir-rep-air-able. The stadium is over 50 years old. It's sinking into the ground. It has a foundation that's cracked and damaged since less than 10 years after it was built. Candlestick is a dead venue. It was built for 48k baseball fans. Not for 57k football fans with luxury boxes on top where it had double usage for over 20 years. That stadium has long been beyond renovation or survival.

Lambeau field, which so you so adore? Not only does it hold 14k more fans per game than Candlestick, but is only a football venue and built for football.

I think that I speak for most long time 49er fans when I say we're resentful when we hear Candlestick being called different corporate names, our history, our tradition can be bought?

It's called sponsorship and it creates something called revenue. You want to play in one of the smaller stadiums in the league where owners struggle to get revenue? Then don't complain about the naming rights. If you love the name so much, write a letter to the owners begging them to raise ticket prices $7 per seat instead of accepting multi-million dollar deals to rename the stadium. Then poll the fans and ask which they'd rather have, some pointless corporate name they pay nothing for or an extra $75 for season tickets.

I have no fear of the 49ers leaving if they can't get a new stadium. The NFL will make them leave the name in S.F. and we'll get new owners for the new 49ers, just like the Browns.

Actually, the NFL cannot do that. First of all, the Ravens moved from Cleveland to Baltimore, which is several hundreds of miles. Santa Clara is a whopping 1 hour drive southeast of the city. New York has 2 teams for over 8.2 million people in that city, you really think the bay area and its 7M or so residents will sustain 3 football teams? Meanwhile, LA has not 1 team? Besides, try to prove that the 49ers is a San Francisco name. The city could sue to have the San Francisco removed, but not the 49ers name, which is a regional and historical nickname. It was the california gold rush, not the san francisco gold rush. This team will remain the 49ers.

A billion dollars for a new stadium? This new stadium lame duck idea is emblematic of everything that is and has been wrong with the 49ers under the current regime; Perception of greed and no loyalty to the fans.

No loyalty to fans? The fans WANT a new stadium! Also, it takes a billion dollars to build a stadium in the bay area!

Candelstick isn't even the teams first home and it's not even a home built for the team, they're squatters on an old baseball stadium! Yet you're still crying over it. It's like that stuffed animal that's been ripped and abused and lost its stuffing that the 6 year old clings to so deeply and cries for hours when it finally gets tossed out.

Oh boy. I've been through that before. Fortunately, by the time they're 12 they're thoroughly out-grown that particular behavior and can embrace change. Well, at least if you've done your parenting right.

Why are so many faithful okay with the idea of leaving San Francisco.

Last year, l finally fulfilled one of dreams and went to to see the niners at the stick ( I'm from Australia, mate).

Granted the stadium in in disrepair and should be demolished, But why move away?

Our roots are firmly planted in SAN FRANCISCO. Firstly at Kezar ( which l also got to see) and now at candlestick park. Our success is our city's triumph.

History does mean everything. Without it you have nothing. You can't see where you're going unless you know where you've come from.

Where're the SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS, Not just the 49ers. IMO we will be doing a disservice to our past champions, our legend coach and to the true faithful if we pack up and leave the city, just to save our owners some dollars. What price do you pay for that history.

Would you prefer them to stay in the greater bay area or leave norcal. I don't mind the team moving to SC as long as they stay in the bay area. Plus, the city of San Francisco has done **** for the team.

If we don't make playoffs...quickly demolish the stadium and rebuild quick before the next season...have like over 100,000 workers build this massive new stadium, please just stay in San Francisco.

STEP 1:Dig a new underground metro system to relive traffic in the area
STEP 2:Dump the dirt into the pacific and build an island behind the existing stadium
STEP 3:Insert new stadium on pile of dirt
STEP 4:Knock down old stadium for prime parking
STEP 5:Make it kick ***!
STEP 6:Hoist 6th Superbowl Trophy
Simple no? Whats all the fuss about?

red for the golden gate bridge, and gold for the ****in gold found in SF not in santa clara.

Um, no significant amount of gold has ever found in SF. It was merely brought there from the Sierras and minted into gold coins, or shipped somewhere else. Get a map and look for Hwy 49. It runs from Mariposa to Vinton. That highway is called the "gold route" for a reason. Specifically, the stretch between Downieville and Sonora is where most of the gold was found. Although it's not operational right now, the largest gold mine in the entire world is the Empire Mine in Grass Valley, CA. The main entrance to the mine is about 0.5 miles from Hwy 49.

STEP 2:Dump the dirt into the pacific and build an island behind the existing stadium
STEP 3:Insert new stadium on pile of dirt

STEP 4: Watch the stadium sink into the bay when the reclaimed ground liquifies during an earthquake. A magnitude 6.0 would be enough to damage the stadium beyond repair in a matter of seconds.

wiz i respectfully disagree with you about the name "49ERS". contrary to what you want to believe the name is a notoriously northern california name and nothing else. go up to the sierra foothills and highway 49 is called the "49er trail" from history books i read, southern california NEVER had 49ers milling around rodeo drive or up and down hollywood blvd. THEY WEREN'T THERE..they were up in northern california panning for gold on the american river and filling the saloons in the gold country in towns like sonora, jackson, and placerville NOT VAN NUYS! i'm sorry i just don't see how a team could look at its fan base and keep the name especially when it doesn't fit that region. if you want any group of people that came to southern california then you should call the team "the okies" because many people from the depression and the dust bowl of oklahoma and kansas filled the la basin after the turn of the century. so i guess we'll call them the la okies:)
