I was reading a note from my fantasy team and i have ted ginn. and the notes says that cam cameron drafted him because a lot of other recievers don't want to be punt returners. haha just thought that was funny.

There are a ton of receivers in this league who want to have no interest in being that punt returner. That's why first and foremost he was brought in, to be the punt returner."

From here on out I shall refer to Mr. Ginn as "The Punt Returner"

I seriously hope Cameron is a heckuva coach because if he bombs, he will never live this down

Cameron gets very excited when he referres to Ginn as a punt returner, but calls him a "work in progress" as a WR...

I'm not too troubled by this pick as most are. Essentially, he drafted a Devin Hester.

They have a pretty good D, a good return game, and a little bit of help on offense and they're going to win a couple of more games.

People are troubled because he drafted a hopeful devin hester instead of a franchise qb.

That's the key word. Cam is "hopeful" that he turns into a Devin Hester. Even if Ginn turns out to be a good punt returner, I feel that his decision to past on a potential franchise QB will get him ran out of town. The fins aren't going to win more than 5 or 6 games next year.

I'd rather take a franchise quarterback then a kick returner with a top ten pick. Hester looks like the kind of guy that might come once every 50 years. We're not even sure if he's going to have the same success as he did his rookie season. I just have a feeling he'll end up like Desmond Howard.

Yeah, just because someone looked like a great punt returner in college doesn't mean that they will be great in the NFL. You don't draft a player then brag about his return ability as his number one asset. When draft a WR, tell how explosive you think is he going to be. You draft a corner, talk about how he will shut players down. You don't ever draft someone on the emphasis that he is a good returner. Being a head coach I thought he would have been better at saying things like this for interviews and press conferences. Looking at the situation in Maimi, I can't believe they passed up on Quinn with thier first pick. There is no way he can sell that to anyone.

Don't mean to start a "Quinn was overhyped post", but

QUINN WAS OVERHYPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that is all.

Who was Quinn going to throw the ball to?

I don't think they want to go into re-build mode just yet. QB is a tough position. They'd essentially be giving up the season with drafting a QB. Plus, they had Culpepper at the time and were looking at green. That'd be a lot of money tied in at QB.

I just think they could use help on offense more than a QB. I wouldn't place my chips on Green due to his age but if he's healthy and in the game, I'd rather have him over Quinn. They lost a lot of close games. A little help on offense could make a big difference.

The Dolphins probably feel they can compete right now. They did shut out the Pats 1 game, ended the Bears undefeated season, and beats the Chiefs by 3. They did lose by 21 to the Bills and were shut out there. Only team that scored over 30 on them was the Packers in a 34-24 loss.

I don't know that I would have gone for Quinn either. At least when a new/rookie QB goes in there, he'll have some help on the outside and good ball position if Ginn pans out.

So you believe that Ted Ginn is the difference between the Dolphins "giving up the season" or not? He's going to make the difference between mediocrity and the playoffs?

Even if they drafted Quinn, they may well still have brought Green in and shipped out Culpepper.

You can argue that Quinn wasn't worth the 9th pick, but are you saying that Ginn was?

I would have looked at my O-line before Ginn or Quinn. Quinn could have ended up like Alex Smith during his first season had he been drafted by Miami.

They do have Ronnie Brown who is no Frank Gore (:D) but he's decent. If it pans out, Ginn will add some dynamics to the offense.

Drafting a rookie QB is essentially giving up the season unless the offense already has legs to stand on. Ginn says "we're going to fight it out" whereas Quinn is a "we're going to start re-building" kind of thing. With the aging defense, by the time Quinn would have matured if he panned out, the defense might be getting rebuilt. Then teams end up with "we better put up some points because we're not stopping anyone".

I'm hesitant to call playoffs for the Dolphins due to their division. I think the Jets are pretty solid at this point. The Pats, they're the Pats. And the other team, yeah, the other team, what about the other team? That leaves them at the third spot in the division. If the AFC North steps it up and the Bengals don't implode and the Steelers make a comeback, that could be the Wildcards there. So it could be that the AFC has a 10-6 team like KC a couple of years back and they still miss the playoffs.

I wouldn't be uncomfortable calling a 9-7 season for them. I wouldn't call playoffs just yet and if they don't get anywhere within a couple of years, they won't get anywhere past that with the aging defense.

me too. all those TD that they are going to produce is going to be HUGE. i don't think that has happened before in the NFL. a family returning punts for TDs.
