Dedicated follower of fashion

Coach Mike Nolan is not giving up on his quest to wear something a bit more dignified than sweats on the sideline.

He met again this month with representatives from Reebok to discuss eschewing the 49ers team apparel he is required to wear in favor of something with more class. Reebok is looking into designing different outfits but no decision has been made, a team spokesman said.

Nolan said it's a matter of dressing for respect. Basketball coaches look like authority figures on the sideline. The football coaches of yesteryear also looked the part. Nolan scoffs at baseball managers and the "costumes" they wear in the dugout.

Vince Lombardi, Tom Landry, **** Nolan ... the sideline attire worn by those gentlemen is what Mike Nolan is trying to capture. But, thanks to Reebok and their idea of marketing, NFL coaches of today dress more like gym teachers at the local middle school.

Nolan said recently that several NFL coaches have expressed a desire to be allowed to dress differently. Hopefully, we'll see a new NFL dress code this season.

Just returned home from watching the late showing of "An Inconvenient Truth." ... And I thought the forecast for the 49ers' pass defense was scary. Wow.

I agree. Man wearing sweats= disrespectful and dirty, but man wearing suits= person with authority.

the NFL and Reebok makes no sense that they would rather a coach look like a bum like Bill Belicheck and his dirty hoody's but resist Nolan wanting to wear a suit.

If Nolan ends up with Belicheck's win record and Superbowl rings I would not care if he wore a Glad BagŠ with is winky hanging out every game.

Reebok doesn't sell suits.

He should wear a personalized red "NOLAN" jeresy! High socks, ****ies shorts and shave his head

Just kidding of course. If coach wants to wear a suit then I say he weres a suit. Hey maybe we can all pitch in and help with the league fines! :sflogo:

I'd go with hot pants that read "VD" on the back with a picture of his face up front
