49ers head coach Mike Nolan confirmed Wednesday that Frank Gore will handle carries in short-yardage situations this season.
Thus, his touchdown numbers will almost certainly rise. Gore lost goal-line duties to Michael Robinson because of fumbles early in his first year starting, but regained them and scored six times in the last eight games.

Gore is the man.
All he needs to do is hold onto the football and follow the jersey that says "Allen"

I wouldnt say that is an absolute steal, that is about right where he should be.

Let's get back to our West Coast Offense. It worked with Montana and Young - we need to push for this:yahoo:

A WCO would mean less attempts for Gore...

It's just a steal, not an absolute steal?

It isn't the West Coast Offense. The original offensive system that Coach Walsh Built his system on, was very similar to the Coreyll. What Coach did, was tweak it and turn it into something totally revalutionary. Personally I think it should be called the Walsh Offense. He labored over it, babied it, and raised it to fruition. Because of this, I think it should carry his name. All the offense before this was predicated on needing specific pieces to the puzzle to make it work. This was the first offense that was designed that allowed some freedom in talent, that still allowed people as a whole, to be great!

I like the idea of going with the west coast but we have to have a balanced attack. I would like to see what a hybrid west coast/Numbers system would bring to our team. We have to air it out at times but running the ball can set up the pass. Especially this year when teams will be going after Frank Gore to stop our run so we start passing more this year to keep the load off Frank Gore and make teams think more great.
