We need the NFL approval first.....but rumor has it that it is in the works for 2008. I have to think it must be true as part of the 49ers big market push to the faithful....

Those uniforms did look GREAT! I would agree, they should wear them all year long, especially with the black cleats, I had visions of Ronnie Lott being out there. With Nolan in the suit and the uniforms, I had flash backs.

Uh huh, much like the Arizona Cardinals and Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions and Raiders...they haven't changed their rich history and tradition in decades and look where its got them???...

I'm trying to decipher a point. Can you help me out? How do you "change a history?"
Btw, those 2008 unis looked great last night. I've had enough of all of that black, garish piping and black shadowboxing of the numbers on next year's throwbacks. It's just too much.

WOW! I was never a fan of the new look burgundy uniforms anyway but seeing those awesome Montana era uniforms last night sure did remind me how great they looked. Wish the Niners would ditch the burgundy and black and go back to this clean and classic look. If not permanently, wouldn't it be a great Walsh tribute to have the team wear them all year with the BW patches? I can't help but thinking the glory days look helped conjure up a little of the Candlestick Park magic in that last drive. Go Niners!

The Cardinals are cursed. Will forever will be so no matter what they do they will always be the Cardinals. They switched jerseys last year and yet they still are on the bottom of the NFC West.

As mentioned by the above member above we are switching back in 2008 to the old jerseys. I can't wait to see the white road jerseys as well. But, rumor has it Nola is going to tweak the jerseys a little bit. Gosh I hope not. Because thats tradition. Just like the Jets going back to their throwbacks permanently in 98.

You and I both. I never liked their current burgundy, crimson, magenta..or whatever color you want to call it jersey. Its just too much design for me. I love their Joe Montana era jersey...they looked great on it last night. I am looking forward to 08.

I love the look of the current uniforms, I dont dislike the old ones, just like a little flash to go along with the "new" team, all that speed and power is a big step up from last year, the old ones look flat to me

Uh huh, much like the Arizona Cardinals and Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions and Raiders...they haven't changed their rich history and tradition in decades and look where its got them???...Well let me see, Arizona did change, so did Detroit a couple years back, but the fans spoke up and had it changed back.
The Raiders were in the Super Bowl not long ago, and I can think of a dozen teams that would love the hardware the Raiders showcase over at the Nimitz facility. Keep in mind that Cleveland is an expansion team, the original Browns are the Ravens.

I hate them. Ugly red.

I prefer the newer ones for the most part. The red is bolder, the shadows really ARE historical, and the Gold pants make the uniform match up better. Could never understand the old style pants, why have that color? It's not red or gold!
I hope the tweaks are getting rid of the logo on the sleeves(too small, and looks too busy), and make the gold/black piping smaller or get rid of it.
The "throwbacks" are ok, but are not really that special, since they still wear them at least a few times a year...they just look dated, imho.

No the Cleavland Browns are not an expansion team. All of the records and everything to do with the Browns up to when the Ravens became a team are the current Browns. That is why they had a 60th patch last year like we had last season. they were just not in the NFL for a few seasons. Some still think they are not in the NFL and the Browns are makeing a good case for them.

Great. They got to keep the records.
But not the players.
Expansion.

The Browns of today are an expansion team!! Yes, the uniform, name, records, history were held over from the "old" Cleveland Browns, but this team (The Players) have only been around for a few years, which qualifies them an expansion team. Just like the Texans......

They don't have to tweak the throwbacks except for the red and white striped socks
they can make them all red just like they did in 1995 and everything would be perfect
you don't add a new color scheme for the Eiffel Tower or the Taj Mahal so don't mess with the 49ers throwback uniforms

exactly, its like the packers saying they are green and gold, but in reality they are yellow, the only thing gold in green bay is the golden showers they take after the game

Nolan is a traditional guy. No wonder I like him. I'm glad to hear the rumor the uniforms are going back to the Montana/Walsh era in 2008. But a rumor and confirmation from the team are two different things. Please Niner brass, go back to the old uniforms. If they asked the league to wear them the rest of the year to honor Bill Walsh, anyone think the answer would be no?

Is anyone here a fan of the 94 throwbacks? I'd like to see them go to something like those and maybe have both gold and white pants.
