hey just read Fitz want to leave AZ at the end of the year when his contract is up because he does not like the run based offense AZ is running.
If niners pick him up how much is he worth and do you think he will fit in.
WE NEED A BIG RECEIVER CANT DEPEND ON D-DROP BALL JACKSON

I would love this guy in a Niner Uniform, but if he doesn't like the Arizona run offense what would possess anyone to believe that he would want to play in Mike Nolans pathetic offenses.

I don't think he would want to play in SF where the WRS no longer get the ball. :hoppy:
I thought he signed a 6 year deal in 2004. I am sure they did not give him $20M in guaranteed cash for a 4 year deal.

Wow. If that's true I'd do everything humanly possible to lock him up to a long-term contract.

That was from probably the worst football "rumor mill" site on the web (you know the one PFT and now all the "rumor" sites are taking to it). Its all over the boards of various sites now. Its pure speculation based on the fact that Fitz has publicly stated he is not in favor of the new offense, also in the blurb was the speculation that since he has a clause in his contract with massive escalators that if the cards dont redo his deal it makes it nearly impossible to keep him especially with boldin also set in a long term contract. The article also said the Vikings would be the destination based soley on the fact he once was a ball boy.
To put it simple we are two weeks into the season and already the irrational and piss poor journalism has started and the lemmings are clearly eating it up.
I'd count on PFT being correct about as much as i'd believe Ricky really did stop inhailing the sticky icky!.

Yeah but at the same time most players think that they will change the way team's play. Especially WRs. Imagine if Smith had a big, tall WR that could go up and fight for the ball. His numbers would be a lot better.
Not to mention, Fitz surely knows the WR history the Niners have had and maybe he wants to fill the shoes of a Rice, TO, Clark, or Taylor.
one can only wish, right?

Oh and by the way that rumor is from the same site that said Denny Green was going to trade Boldin, Berry, Adrian Wilson, and first round pick to the Vikings for Randy Moss.
Yeah they might not keep him but I guarantee they dont let him walk for nothing.
...especially not to us. Or the Rams. Or the 'Hawks. He'll end up in New England like everybody else for a first rounder, a third rounder and a zoom lens.

there isnt a team in the NFL that wouldnt want larry fitzgerald
that is probably true.... for the cardinals to give him up would just be not right.

Maybe there's some contract clause that went into effect, or will go into effect?
It's possible there is an opt out clause, which wouldn't be uncommon in a 6 year deal.
And it's also possible the rumor means in two more years.
All the article says "when his contract ends" it doesn't specify any time soon.

if that's the case, fitzgerald will probably have nothing to worry about when his contract expires. Knowing the Cardinals, they'll have 3 different coaches by 2010. Maybe the last one will be Mike Martz.

My bet is that “IF” he heads out of AZ it will be to an AFC team. That is where the majority of the real FA talent heads these days.

I'm sure McCloughan & Nolan would more than LOVE to bring Fitzgerald in IF he hits UFA next off-season. That my friends is a big IF. Also, the way we've looked so offensively inept the first 2 games we aren't looking like such an attractive destination to Mr. Fitzgerald. Step it up guys, I believe in ya.:sflogo:

Frankly, we can have all the ALL PRO WRs in this league.....but if we don't use them, then it won't matter. In our current offense, we have VD, Delanie Walker, JB, Arnaz, Jason Hill, Lelie.........those are more than adequate to provide us a potent passing offense.

What if in the offseason we got him and then if Alex continues to struggle we brought in Chad(About to get replaced) Pennington. Pennington is a leader and a very accurate passer if our o-line can help keep him healthy and young Alex can back up and learn from him. Offense having Fitz, DJax, Battle, VD and Gore with Pennington who spreads the ball around throwing. I don't know but it sounds interesting to me.:hide:

Yeah it is bad. Your bad.
One season Boldin and Fitz both had over 100 catches and 1400 yds, the next, Boldin had a pretty good season but 25 yds less per game, Fitz came nowhere near great. The main difference? Matt Leinart.
A trained chimp can toss passes to both Boldin and Fitz and make the Pro-Bowl. Matt makes ineptitude look easy.

PFT has to be the worst source of news on the Net.
Fitzgerald has been on tons of TV and Radio shows this week and has had nothing but glowing remarks about coach Whisenhunt and the offesne. Anyone that knows Fitzgerald and Boldin, would know that both players want to win a Championship and if that means less balls thrown there way then so be it.
Either way both players have at least two more years to go before becoming FAs and I seriously doubt that the Cards would just let them go.

:rolleyes2: I swear the only people who bash the site have reading comprehension deficencies, here is what PFT wrote:
There's no indication that Fitzgerald, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2004 draft, plans to try to force his way out prematurely. Based on the escalators in his rookie contract, there was speculation when it was signed that the Cardinals would likely have to extend the deal after four seasons.
They go on to say, it might not be worth have 2 very highly paid WRs in a running offense, and the cardinals COULD opt to trade him, not that they will or is even likely.

kurt warner is also an excellent passer at times (makes some BIG mistakes), but he worked really well with good, big receivers.

Anquan Boldin went to the probowl with Josh McCown tossing the rock to him, and McCown is equally as terrible, if not more so than Leinart.
You catch the Ravens game? Pulled Matt for someone who doesnt suck, ala Warner, and Kurt lit them up. Matt is dead weight, we are not going to make any progression with him behind center any time soon.
